I have a few ideas brewing - will post some of my concepts tonight.
I think I can handle the modelling portion, but when it comes to the texturing I will need some critiques and advice - hope all of you pros out there will lend a hand?

Forced to leave his family behind, he gives his only child one last hug before he is gone.
This was to depict a journey to a new world. The boat with a city in the distance hovers behind them.

This one has the family all aboard the ship. The young boy is anxious and excited. He tries to pull his parents to the front of the ship so they can see the new world that stands before them.

Hi Matt! I really like both ideas! The second is really touching, but I think the first one is more "clear" and spectacular. Anyway, good luck! I hope to see the development of your idea soon!

Concept: Cookie Jar
The little boy is on a journey to make it to the top of the fridge. He has assembled some household items to help him get there. With his cat in his bookbag he will set off to make it.
I havent decided on the exact concept yet - any comments or ideas?
I like the jack and the beanstalk theme you have going on. Unworldy lighting of the kitchen and a clever use of DOF would kick ass :buttrock:
Keep it up! I love the concept :)

thanks for the input. I didnt really see it as a Jack in the Beanstalk way, but thats a good visualization of what I am looking for.
I also had the idea of showing part of the scene as realistic, but the other half through his interpretation. So he doesnt see it as furniture and a cookie jar,but like a beanstalk and his treasure he is trying to reach.

I like the cookie jar concept. If you go for it, push the angles and stretch the scale, especially if you go for the beanstalk theme. Keep it up.

I like both of the concepts with the ship in.
If you push the scale and perspective it could be awesome.
I think you just got beat to the fridge concept by this one though :) http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=322970
Not identical but might be a bit close for your liking.

Womgoose thanks. never saw that other thread. Would seem kinda crappy to have almost the same exact approach. I may push the beanstalk idea in another way or just go with one of my earlier ideas.
K - thanks man. I think the beanstalk idea would be really fun and colorful - right up my alley:D
btw - I have lots to tell you. I will email you whats been happenin around here.
thanks for the input.
I have alot going on with my last quarter of school so I will try and work on this in my free time.
