03-12-2006, 10:54 AM (

still searching...

03-12-2006, 11:44 AM
hey some really nice sketches, keep it going!

03-12-2006, 01:41 PM (

not satisfied with this one either, but trying to get close to the character... for the expression is the key, right? :)

03-12-2006, 02:51 PM
That looks nice. Lovely lighting and the composition really leads your eye around wll with all of the curved edges. If you're concernd about character size, you could even push him closer to the camera too. What will the light be? A torch? Something magic? Or just The Outside? One thing that could be fun is to incorporate the bones from your first post: They were very cool looking, and the shapes could fit in yuor composition well. Don't know if they fit your backstory, but they look nice... :)
Good luck!

03-12-2006, 02:53 PM
wonderful atmosphere and technique -- very nice work so far!

03-12-2006, 03:49 PM
thanx walrus for the feedback, you are absolutely right... but, i THINK i found another concept for this challenge.. i`ll upload the sketch later, i`m more confortable with this new concept. thanx anyway, and also, your Journey looks awsome! :)

jevinart, thank you too!

03-13-2006, 10:31 PM (

ok, i think i`ve found what i wanted.. i think this is the sketch i`ll finish!
the character is just as close to put some feelings on his face.
let me know what you think :)

03-13-2006, 10:42 PM
Hi Dominus,

I love dragons and here I love also the perspektive and mood. And background colors are great, so far.

Keep up the good work and much luck!

03-13-2006, 10:45 PM
I love the variety of your concepts, and the faciltity with which you change and conceptualize them. This last one is ceryainly very epic-looking.

03-16-2006, 03:45 PM (

i like this one more, the perspective gives a more dinamical look, what do you think?

03-16-2006, 04:37 PM
I agree. The dragon is definiately looking at where he intends to go. But you can't do a furry dragon because I'm doing a furry dragon! Oh well, you beat me to it. :scream:

03-16-2006, 04:41 PM
ill go withe the cave concept i think it has the most potential :)

03-16-2006, 04:55 PM
Good background concept.. Nice terrain and atmosphere..good luck to you!!

03-16-2006, 05:12 PM
JTD - hehe, probably not my final concept, dunno :)
Slav, thanx, but... i don`t know, i thik i`ll the dragon a chance :) my instinct sais so
idyeaah - thanks!

03-16-2006, 08:41 PM (

could be this one, so i`ll do next a color wip to see how it works...

03-16-2006, 11:06 PM (

now, i`m stuck right here and i need some help!
i like this one, but some tell me that i should come back to the one with the panoramic view.... i REALLY don`t know.. i like the perpsective of this one better, plus the characters are now with the face to the watcher.
SO... i really need a good spleep and some feedback...

03-17-2006, 02:02 AM
i'd go with the latest piece where the dragon and the rider face the camera, perhaps ,translate or place the characters lower in the frame?u could kep the angle still with the vast background u have at the moment,:scream:u can go with ur dragon~coz i'm doing phoenix:D

03-17-2006, 05:02 PM
10x for your reply ! I didn't spend much time drawing the horses (a few hours). Well, everyone has his own style of drawing and concepting drawing scenes. I personally like it detailed :D. But it's just the beginning though, i only made a few the detailed scene (in colour of course comming soon), and of course the main character: the girl :D.
Bafta multa in continuare ! Si...o sa mai trec pe aici sa vad cum progresezi :D

03-17-2006, 05:37 PM
sh@ke - here i did what you told me but its just temporary, i think i`ve found a better twist, i`ll post it soon ;)

-KiD- thanx dude!

03-17-2006, 05:47 PM
great mood and movement. the previou composition worked better for me cuz it made a larger feel for the scene. keep up the great work :)

03-17-2006, 06:02 PM
hey man great colors i don't like the first one in this page wich shows the dragon flies away to a castle it gives me a feel of end of a journey not begin, but the last one is much better.:applause:

03-17-2006, 08:27 PM (

okeeei, that is a sketch for my new ideea. i`ve seen that everybody`s doing riding dragons so i`m gonna keep the background and replace the dragon with something new ;)

03-17-2006, 10:42 PM (

this is how he will look :)

03-17-2006, 10:56 PM
that latest update is great, I love his expression! And dont worry about the vertical format, it gives a lots of dangerous feeling and feeling of high. The horizontal is often too peaceful and easygoing, so for ur theme the vertical choice would be perfect I think. keep up the great work!

03-17-2006, 11:13 PM
Bai....le ai ! ce pot sa zic :) felicitari pt desene! sunt chiar reusite ! bafta multa in cont !

03-17-2006, 11:38 PM (

so this is how the image should look, just a sketchy preview.

03-18-2006, 06:29 AM
are those for sale? man i need a car :| anyways good stuff man. should be fun to see what else is to come from you in terms of background and other such things.

03-18-2006, 06:42 AM
Haha, that looks interesting - the combination of melancholic mood of landscape with crazy pilot above. Maybe the airscrew isn't enough to keep him in the air :scream: What about to give him a little kite above head he can use for fly?

BTW: The color scheme looks fantastic

03-18-2006, 11:16 AM
NinjaASSN - thanx man, and yes, i`ll go with the vertical, looks better to me too

-KiD- - merci man, multa bafta si tie!

Slav - if those were for sale i would have buyed you one :D thanks for comments

robertmekis - thanx alot, i`ll think about his machine... anyway you made my day with your comment because i used to have your photos as wallpapers on my desktop!

03-18-2006, 02:06 PM
Ha! Great expression and pose on that guy! And you're right, it does have a more interesting twist than the usual person-riding-dragon. I like it, and I hope you do too enough to stick with it: It's good!Good luck with it!

03-21-2006, 07:49 PM
Oh my! That's great honour for me! Better I shall prepare some more for you

03-21-2006, 11:07 PM
ALL RIGHT!!! Great job! I'm glad to see how you keep pushing the concept. I think this is a nice twist with a very dynamic execution. Look forward to the next post.

03-24-2006, 10:00 PM
salutare! ai o tehnica si un stil bestial. iti urez si doresc toate cele bune!

03-24-2006, 10:16 PM
so many ideas! are you working on multiple submissions in this category? just curious... for this particular image, i think the expression on the character's face is fantastic -- great job.

03-24-2006, 11:36 PM
walrus - thanks, yes it does look better this way

robertmekis - heheh, i should visit your website ;)

werepumpkin - thank you! :)

Dimmur - multzam frumos ;)

jevinart - thanx! and nope, just this one. i like his expression too, scared heheh

04-19-2006, 06:28 PM
imi place omu asta:

are o fatza perfecta pt. "the journey begins". adica chiar ca "begins", he he, fain inceput de calatorie. imi inchipui ca cineva i-a tras un sut in cur (pot sa spun 'cur' aici ca astia nu inteleg oricum... hihihi). o colega de-a mea zicea pe vremuri, de la maica-sa citire: "un sut in cur e un pas inainte"

04-19-2006, 07:09 PM
I like the look on his face. keep it up

05-23-2006, 12:31 AM
double post, sorry.

05-23-2006, 12:36 AM
common... i was hoping for an update! line art... i am looking for the juicy bits! :wip: :wip:

05-24-2006, 10:25 AM
Slav, and all the other who encouraged me.. i'm so sorry to disappoint you.. but i really don't have now the time to finish this  i have a bunch of other projects on my head...

even if i couldn't finish this in time for the challenge, i PROMISE i will finish it sometime and i will post it here on CGsociety! i love it too and i don't want to it give up ;)

thanx everyone!

05-25-2006, 12:11 PM
