You're in! Sweet! Welcome, my friend, and best of luck to you. :bounce: Now lets see something great!
03 March 2006, 10:58 AM
ho ho :)
I knew I will see you in this one also!
Good luck friend!
03 March 2006, 02:04 PM
Great opportunity for your beautiful style. Good luck!
03 March 2006, 03:35 PM
Hi there! Looking forward to see what you'll come up with this time
03 March 2006, 02:09 PM
Thanks for welcoming friends! :scream: Nice to see you all back. I have couple of ideas, but nothing particular yet. Still trying to evolve them on paper. Anyway, sketch is going to be soon...
Oh and good luck to you all! :bounce:
03 March 2006, 07:51 PM
Alright this should kind of show my main idea: three kids discover a big mistical temple. Even challenge preffers micro world I just can't resist for the size in this challenge theme. This image will be evolving in my progress of course, so in the end it may differ a lot from my sketch, anyway I hope you've got an idea...
...Good luck to everyone!
03 March 2006, 07:53 PM
Wow, nice sketch!
03 March 2006, 07:53 PM
nice image ..
03 March 2006, 01:46 AM
Very nice sketch. As you implied there the challenge guidelines sound like they're looking for something different, but maybe just putting some distance between the kids/statues and the temple would do it? Either way really lovely start :)
03 March 2006, 05:22 AM
Cool. I like it. Although, the top of the temple seems rather boring. The hourglass type shape doesn't really do it for me, but I'm sure you'll do something great with it. Always do.
03 March 2006, 11:44 AM
Vedic kings, hobo: thank you :)
kary: yeah as I said before the layout in 3d will be quite different, I'll try to match everything to suit the image, this sketch shows much the main idea rather the image I see in my mind, thanks.
Hey Matthew I totaly agree with you about the temple, I know it looks like a peace of plastic toy for now, it's because I'm not skilled enough in drawing yet to express what I see in my mind. The top of (and the whole) temple will look a lot different when I'll come up with the modeling  , thanks for viewing friend!
03 March 2006, 02:55 AM
Hi ! how are you man! nice to see you again , nice concept ! and like you said your 3d work will be evolve into nice piece of art for sure! wanna see cool pattern design and detail modeling from you once again! good luck!
03 March 2006, 03:15 AM
Wow, the sense of scale in this is immense. I look forward to your use of colors and updates.
03 March 2006, 05:01 PM
Hi Monsitj, thanks for warm words friend! Nice to see you too. Yeah this time I'll have less free time but I hope I'll make everything in time and without compromises  . See you soon and once again good luck to you too! :scream:
Thanks mmoir, I hope I'll be able to transfer that sense of scale even more in 3d layout :) I just hope... I'll make it in time...
Some progress soon ;)
03 March 2006, 12:53 PM
Hey dude nice to see you in this challenge:) Now thats a great concept, I like it very much
All the best for this challenge:thumbsup: Keep rocking.
03 March 2006, 08:37 PM
Started to model...
03 March 2006, 10:11 PM
03 March 2006, 12:24 PM
Nice start with modeling:) Waiting to see more:bounce:
03 March 2006, 03:16 PM
03 March 2006, 03:21 PM
Davision: thanks, good luck to you too :)
madshooter: hey man thanks for droping by and all the best for your challenge too :D
03 March 2006, 04:50 PM
Very nice start for your modeling - a beautiful head
03 March 2006, 05:19 PM
Nice start dude!!! Cant wait to see the body up to the texture. keep up the good work. I can see that it will be a great model once its done. jas check the lower jaw. Great work!!
03 March 2006, 10:26 PM
Started the body, made some tweaks on head to make it look more "cat look". Sorry for slow progress, have problems with time this time.
03 March 2006, 10:32 PM
Gunilla and megabytes2004: thank you guys for a support, I hope I'll finish this one in time :)
03 March 2006, 11:07 PM
I've been waiting. Good to see you moving forward. Looks beautiful.
03 March 2006, 07:56 AM
excellent modeling start. the head is really cool but you can work the legs more I think.
03 March 2006, 10:06 AM
glenn23: Hi man nice to see you droping by, thanks! Yeah I don't want to give up though my circumstances are really forces me to do that...
authentic: Yup this is just the start, lots of work is still waiting, thanks ;)
03 March 2006, 11:24 AM
I am looking forward to this, fantastic start on the modeling, the big cat looks very regal. Bravo.
03 March 2006, 11:29 AM
Beautiful exaggerated form to the cat..so gracefull! congrats
03 March 2006, 06:30 PM
Hey. Sorry I've been neglectful in following your progress. The statue is looking great. Perhaps one of these days I'll learn how to do quality organic modeling like that. I'm not going to hold my breath though. :) Anyway, I can't wait to see how everything falls together.
03 March 2006, 12:04 AM
Great character, i realy like the the style you gived to the cat
03 March 2006, 03:01 PM
handlebar, shakes, BrianC, MattGyver Thank you all I'm happy that you liked :D
Anyway, I can't wait to see how everything falls together.
By the way now there are some changes. I'm thinking of giving a different mood to my image and I also have some thoughts on making kind of a huge monument instead of temple representing the gate to the sky somewhere.. well like the journey begins you know...
03 March 2006, 08:51 PM
Allright seems like things are moving. It's still not completed as you can see but not so much left.
03 March 2006, 09:01 PM
A quick test render to see how it looks like...
03 March 2006, 10:27 PM
"No, Billy, you can't climb the cat. Billy! Come back!" Looking good. I like the stretched out style, but I wouldn't mind seeing the head just a bit bigger. It seems very small to me.
03 March 2006, 01:30 AM
I feel the panther looks just right.
Just keep it this way and I'm sure u can move on to other parts.
nice modeling tho.
looking forward to ur update.
03 March 2006, 02:38 AM
reminds me Lord of the rings... Anyway thats nice. I like your cat. That can make a very nice pic.
03 March 2006, 08:43 AM
"No, Billy, you can't climb the cat. Billy! Come back!"
Cha, All right Billy it's a male, whatever, now leave those "things" alone...
...but I wouldn't mind seeing the head just a bit bigger. It seems very small to me.
Maybe, I'll try to experiment on that thing later, thanks :D
kfc Thanks man, nice avatar
reminds me Lord of the rings... Anyway thats nice. I like your cat. That can make a very nice pic.
Maybe  I saw the 1 and 2 part of LOTR don't remember any cats or panthers, I am not really a fan of LOTR
03 March 2006, 08:55 AM
This looks already great  big statues gives always a great mood.
I`m looking forward to see more, wishing you good luck and alot of fun:bounce:
03 March 2006, 08:56 AM
nice modeling, but seems that you've lost the proportions somewhere.. the body is too long?
here is a nice reference
03 March 2006, 09:20 AM
Nice head model, but I pretty much agree with Tigrenka, something weird with proportions. Hope you'll add more details on body muscules ;) anyway if its only sculpture...
03 March 2006, 11:37 AM
Lovely cats. But it seems to organic for sculptures imho. Maybe textures will fix this.
03 March 2006, 11:46 AM
Also, i think proportions are just fine. It brings height in composition, besides it's in cheetah propotions.
03 March 2006, 05:30 PM
Nomad: Thanks nice to hear that mate :D
the body is too long?
something weird with proportions
Yes the body is too long, I made that inentionally so they would look taller. I'm still not happy with them too, though I think I know what's wrong with them. Also, yeah, the body still needs some work.
...it seems to organic for sculptures imho.
I was thinking about that too, I don't know, there are actually sculptures like that, even Tigrenka's references profs that.
...It brings height in composition
Yes thanks that's the reason I've made them so long...
Thank you all for c&c They'll sure be useful. Now I want to jump on other image parts, I want to have a base image of my picture. See you
04 April 2006, 07:51 PM
The cats are looking cool:thumbsup: , I do think they could have more definition on their backs. I am thinking they need a tail , and that the tail could form a railing to steps that go into the temple . Just a thought. Great job so far .
04 April 2006, 07:12 PM
After lot of concepts and brainstorming on temple and overal image I think I found one that I like most of all. I may change my mind about it but for now this is what I've got.
04 April 2006, 05:34 PM
Started to create decorations, looooots of work is awaiting
04 April 2006, 08:33 PM
ah love the new update =) the pattern under the creatures are looking good... if you add this kind of detail everywhere its going to look really great! the back legs on the creatures look a bit off... but i might just not know their anatomy well enough heh... great work!
04 April 2006, 11:17 AM
mmoir Hey thanks man, sorry for delayed answer, yeah the tail is of course going to be. Thanks for suggestion friend :scream:
WhisperWithin Thanks. :D I'm not happy with their feet either. I’ll make some corrections though it won’t be seen so much in the final original size image.
04 April 2006, 11:23 AM
wow! great ideea, very nice cats and i think your image is the only one so far that is gonna be at night.and gunilla's. well great concept , good luck
04 April 2006, 04:06 PM
thanks, so that means it's only Gunilla, because my image won't be at night...
04 April 2006, 04:32 PM
Working on ornaments which are going to be on columns. Still not completed...
04 April 2006, 04:36 PM
04 April 2006, 04:38 PM
some close up
Your opinion, c&c are very welome
see you soon and thanks for watching
04 April 2006, 04:56 PM
Really nice looking ornaments - you're up to a huge task if you're going to cover everything with them. It's cool you're modeling them and not using maps
I like the size of the cats too - didn't know they where going to be that big... impressive really!
The shapes streching up on each side of the sphere looks like it could be there tails, is it?
04 April 2006, 03:11 PM
Gunilla thanks, nice to see you here, about the tails: no they won't, but the idea is actually really interesting :wip: , The last layout looks total crap to me so I'm making the new one right now. While I'm still not sure exactly what I want, I can't go any further :( , also I don't have much free time this time so I'm moving really slowly, hope to find the proper (or at least decent) layout soon. See you :wavey:
04 April 2006, 03:44 PM
Once again I love your elegant style! Can't wait to see the new layout.
04 April 2006, 02:54 PM
Thanks Glenn, nice to see you dropping by
04 April 2006, 08:18 PM
Nice work, especially with the stylized HUGE cats...really like it that you were creatively bold enough to make them so enormous. Very different and interesting. Look forward to seeing more!
04 April 2006, 05:28 PM
More like concept actually, but not much time left... need to make decisions quicker, soon the final layout
04 April 2006, 05:31 PM
oceanbluesky Thanks man :wavey:
04 April 2006, 06:08 PM
Beautiful shapes, looking good!
04 April 2006, 06:17 PM
Finished Panthers, or tigers or cheetahs or whatever... anyway mostly chetahs references were used, I think that proportions now looks quite good, since I really wanted to look them unaturally tall. See ya
04 April 2006, 06:18 PM
oceanbluesky Thanks :)
04 April 2006, 02:53 PM
Small update of my modeling...
04 April 2006, 04:26 PM
Wonderful modeling - I really like your style - very special
04 April 2006, 11:12 PM
04 April 2006, 11:16 PM
Thanks Gunilla, it's always nice to hear a good word from you
04 April 2006, 11:26 PM
Beautiful! Absolutely beautiful, Andrius....you know I'm unsure of course if this is your intent for the final image, but, the way you have made the larger (huge) four shapes surrounding the centerpiece float in the air, or at least appear to float, adds quiet a bit of intrigue...especially given their enormity.
Looking forward to seeing more! Good luck!
05 May 2006, 03:41 PM
05 May 2006, 03:47 PM
Hey Andrius, love the ridges you've placed on the petal structures, especially those reaching into the temple...very beautiful. --Did you take away those four huge pillars? (I kind of like those things....). Looking forward to more, good luck!
05 May 2006, 03:50 PM
Thanks Eric for your opinion and comments, those four shapes will sure be. They will be standing on the ground reaching the sky, they were in the air because they are only dummies so far... :D
05 May 2006, 04:32 PM
Great! Kind of liked the thought that they were floating, too, but I'm sure I'll be into this final image. Good luck!
05 May 2006, 05:32 PM
Very graceful and very well choosed proportions. Good luck! Keep on!
05 May 2006, 07:35 PM
Reminds me a bit of the Sydney opera house or a Frank Gehry concert hall, but even more beautiful. You have a rare gift. Always a fan.
05 May 2006, 11:56 PM
I really like the architectural modeling here , great job.   . You really have a knack for the ornamental type modelling too. Keep up the great job.
05 May 2006, 01:16 AM
Brings to mind flowers, but with the enormous weight of a huge amount of concrete and steel, nicely done :)
05 May 2006, 10:58 PM
Started to make my characters. To make clothes I used simcloth directly on biped poses and then fixed them manualy. They will be small in the image, but in original size they should be seen just a bit smaller then now I think...
05 May 2006, 11:11 PM
oceanbluesky Yeah we'll see how it will develop ;)
Deser Thanks man :)
glenn23 Yeah I know that building, Frank Gehry is a real talent, his all architectural buildings are amazing. Can't say sydney opera didn't inspired me indeed, thanks for dropping by it's nice to see you :D
mmoir thanks, worried a bit about how those ornaments will look on my columns, oh well, we'll see...
kary When I was sketching for ideas the concept actually looked more like a flower on my paper, I even got some references of roses :D I thought that when I started to model it lost that "flower look". I guess not.. thanks for seeing it.. :wavey:
05 May 2006, 03:59 PM
This is the ring that the four collumns around is going to hold in the sky, the perspective of my layout will show about a half of it.
05 May 2006, 12:47 PM
Ok it's almost completed, still needs some tweaking mnd minor fixes. I'll take them after I make my collumns and put everything in layout.
05 May 2006, 03:55 PM
Hey cool updates!
I like your level of details. I agree with glen about that opera house :) it realy reminds.... Keep it going, its not that much time left ;) Im on fire right now....
05 May 2006, 05:18 PM
Fantastic! your almost done, and thanks for the updates.
Your architecture reminds me of the giant Lotus temple in New Deli, India. I was gifted to see it from the top of a building, during sunrise. mmm great reminder. thanks. It makes me want to travel again! I will travel to your thread to see more updates soon!
05 May 2006, 01:49 PM
This is my (more or less) final layout
05 May 2006, 01:55 PM
Textured my panther.
05 May 2006, 02:02 PM
Dodgeas3d Thanks man :D yeah the time is sure running out :surprised
rasamaya I've searched Lotus temple on google, wow it looks awesome, I'd like to see it too from above in real, wonderfull architecture, thanks :scream:
05 May 2006, 02:10 PM
Looks really good and there is a strong atmosphere in the render.
Good luck and have fun finishing :)
05 May 2006, 05:25 PM
Amazing as always, my friend. The level of detail and originality of your images never ceases to amaze me. :applause: I have nothing to critique.
05 May 2006, 06:22 PM
Wow, sorry, but really- wow. I love cats, perfect- except for the texture seam along the tail, but Im sure we wont see it on the final image.
05 May 2006, 02:03 AM
That's a very imaginative piece of work! I have to say it's really a beautiful design, great work on the detail too!
I just have one suggestion maybe the cat statue should have more ornamental carvings just like the building so they match each other more a little. Well, they look good just the way they are now, though.
Cant wait when it's finish!
05 May 2006, 06:10 AM
The design is beautiful!!!
05 May 2006, 07:24 PM
Hello, sorry for a slow progress, didn't expect I won't have time sooo much this time, anyway made the sky. I used four photos to make it, then did some manual tweaking, need to hurry up. Also finished my upper ring in the sky, and the collumns with ornaments, also I've almost completed my building (I call it "the gate") so I'll make some renders in time and post them here before the original size render...
05 May 2006, 07:37 PM
Sathe Thanks, yeah the panthers should look like that in the final too
MattGyver Hey man how are you, sorry that you won't be able to finish this challenge, for me this challenge is very difficult too, because I have a lot of problems eather :( anyway good luck, see you soon friend
rasamaya Oh yes that seam is just temporal :) thanks for kind words and support
skyisnotthelimit Thanks, yeah I was thinking about that too, you are very right, but I've
made some test and those ornaments just doesn't fit anywhere around those panthers. I'll think about that if I'll have time.
Riddick Thanks, good luck to you too :scream:
05 May 2006, 04:54 PM
Nice update - your design is beautiful as always! You need to hurry now, I'd really like to see this finished :bounce:
05 May 2006, 11:52 AM
Hi Gunilla, thanks for dropping by :) . yeah I'm in hurry now :surprised but almost everything is completed, just omptimizing everything for 4000x2560
05 May 2006, 09:21 PM
This is the small test render of my image far part. Feel free to say your opinion
05 May 2006, 06:48 AM
hi man haven't seen this thread in a while, you've got some cool design i really like the elegant orminents. look forward to the final, good luck!
05 May 2006, 04:41 AM
I like the colour consistency
05 May 2006, 05:22 AM
Really beautiful render - all the nice details are coming through well. Good luck for the final steps!
05 May 2006, 10:14 PM
this my main characters in original size. Almost everything is complete, just to fix some parts of an image, and render a few passes. Tomorow I'll send my final.
05 May 2006, 10:19 PM
Part of my image, quickly composed layers. See you tomorow
05 May 2006, 10:20 PM
Looks good! I hope to see more tomorrow!
05 May 2006, 10:24 PM
hhssuu, webwings, Gunilla, Womball, Thank you all for a support :bounce:
05 May 2006, 10:45 PM
I knew it was going to look great but this is even better than I imagined! The sense of scale is awesome. I can almost hear the incredible acoustics.
REALLY nice. I love the architectural elements...
05 May 2006, 06:11 AM
ey Horn nice pic
05 May 2006, 06:27 AM
Hey this is beautiful (of course!) but I'm worried you don't have a turntable up yet! You're working on one right???
FANTASTIC IMAGE!..with better lighing and an external environment out of the big door....it will be a winner!
05 May 2006, 10:01 AM
glen23 Hi man, nice to hear you and thanks for comments :bounce: .
DDS thanks, I'm happy you liked it
Squibbit Hi man, how are you, how many concepts you made this time? :) Thanks for dropping by
oceanbluesky Of course I have, just not sended yet, it's 360 around panther, thanks see you soon
OZ yeah I'm making some shadow passes right now to give a depth and mood that I want, hope the final will look better, Dors are part of my fixing, thanks
05 May 2006, 10:54 AM
Great progress! Watch for more and good luck for finishing!
05 May 2006, 01:36 PM
nice contrast between the sizes, colours and lights, great image:thumbsup:
The Journey Begins (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=322760&highlight=alvin)
Spectacular 3D (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=275950&highlight=alvin)
Well.....i find it REALLY one of the best work here....And im talking to the image at this point.
Im very curious to see the finale.Still...great image.
05 May 2006, 02:49 PM
Superb. The architecture is beautiful. I think there's too much bump on the statues. Or maybe the texture is not tiled enough.
When I watch your sketch, I think it was a good idea to put a red light behind the building, it was adding something that made you nearer from the subject, as if the 2 charcaters were really going on a journey to discover a strange and maybe dangerous building... But in the last picture, it looks like they're just going to visit a museum, not leaving for a long journey...
Good work anyway, one of my favourite pictures.
05 May 2006, 03:34 PM
komsa good luck to you too man  and thanks
alvin_cgi yeah, can't wait to show the whole image :)
OZ thanks, hope I won't let you down
Alphajet83 Yeah you are right, this is displacement it actually distracts me too, I'll see what I can do
About the concept, well I changed my mind, I want it look more euphorical, but I agree that entrance looks empty, I'll fix that...
But in the last picture, it looks like they're just going to visit a museum, not leaving for a long journey...
Good work anyway, one of my favourite pictures.
I think the upper part of image will change that feeling. :) Thanks for your opinions :bounce:
05 May 2006, 03:47 PM
Just great, but i think the bump map in the jaguars is too strong. A bump map more discreet and will be outstanding
05 May 2006, 08:27 PM
Ok this is it, this is my layer setup before I post the final
05 May 2006, 08:28 PM
As always some closeups before final, here we go..
05 May 2006, 08:30 PM
05 May 2006, 08:32 PM
05 May 2006, 08:35 PM
05 May 2006, 08:37 PM
And the last one...
05 May 2006, 08:48 PM
It’s difficult to walk the path when you don’t know where it leads to and it’s even more difficult when no one knows… But we did and we found it, even though everyone thought we were chasing the illusion. We went through so much, but it was worth it. Now I feel like I want to laugh, because, honestly, I was starting to doubt about all this myself... And here it is, just in front of our eyes. This is no paradise, because we’re not dead, this is our attained merit and it’s just about to begin…
I want to thank all of you who gave me support this challenge, this includes:
MattGyver, Grubber, glenn23, Gunilla, Vedic-kings, hobo, kary, monsitj, mmoir, madshooter, Davision, megabytes2004, authentic, handlebar, shakes, BrianC, kfc, Charles-Ho, Nomad, Tigrenka, Dodgeas3d, komsa, WhisperWithin, thedirtypaw, oceanbluesky, Deser, rasamaya, Sathe, skyisnotthelimit, Riddick, hhssuu, webwings, Womball, DDS, Squibbit, OZ, alvin_cgi, Alphajet83, ilusiondigital.
And all others who watched and were interested, I hope you we'll like it.

05 May 2006, 04:40 PM
congratulation for finalimage! you done very great image! I alway like the pattern in your work , flow curve element in the image and great sense of scale is awesome!
my favourite of this challenge man! good luck and see you in the next one !
05 May 2006, 06:40 PM
Fantastic work... great structures design, i like your style:thumbsup:
05 May 2006, 06:53 PM
Such a cold palette this time 'round mate and I think it deepens the sense of scale and intensifies the 'feel' of this piece...:buttrock: Stunningly detailed and presented work as always and for me this one achieves a real otherworldly mysticism that I've only ever seen you touch on lightly in previous challenges...
05 May 2006, 07:26 PM
Even if your image is vertically oriented it looks very cinematic to me. Like image from huge fantasy movie... just great. Love your monotoned colorz. Good luck
05 May 2006, 09:35 PM
It's very-very nice!! Probably you know am an industrial designer student. I seen many forms sculptures shapes. Your sense to these are .... talented you are! Maybe you shoud go to create your designs in stone, marble or molded metal. If you didn't till this day. What a scenery also! i feel myself so small in front of this. Honestly it's a masterpiece. Now time to save your workflow. Hope see ya next time too! best luck for judging, i really hope you will be chosen!
05 May 2006, 10:30 PM
Great image! I like the huge lions, great job pal and good luck!
05 May 2006, 10:31 PM
very nice... a real treat :bounce:
05 May 2006, 11:57 PM
Very impressive image    . The sky and the top part of the image is wonderful. Great job and good luck.

As it was said before, great sense of scale! Trully breathtaking! Impressive details and architectural flow!
Although many may disagree, I think a wider range of colors wouldn't have hurt. Other than that, congratulations... and good luck!

Wow Andrius! Congratulations upon completing such a wonderful just beautiful -- gorgeous image! Your texturing on the stonework really worked out well! Absolutely magnificent! Love the sense of depth and fragility, along with your attention to details.

Qweron Yeah, in movies you can often notice one dominating color, sometimes you don't even notice that a picture has almost one color with it's different value and you still think that you are watching it in "color". Good luck to you too.
Tremoside Mark, thank you for your heartfull post, it really means a lot to me . I want to say that even I take myself into 3d primarly, I'm actually very interested in all types of "art making". I'd really like to try to make something out of stone, wood, clay, metal and etc, I would really like to learn paint with real oil canvas, ink... I hope I'll have an opportunity and time to try all this (I know I will...), cause that's really interesting. Best of luck to you too, I know you'll be picked
