Here you can see the main parts of my work. The concept of the city on the turtle's back might be like the photo shown here.A castle will be added on the top of the city too.

This is my first post in 3D and it is one of the ships I want to use in my scene.
It doesn't have texture and material and it needs more details.
If you have any comments about the modeling of it I'd be glad to hear it.

04-06-2006, 10:15 AM
Hi Adel, Your concept is really epic as required!!!

Great model It should be a great final image!

04-06-2006, 12:44 PM
Woohoo! Finally Adel has started the modeling! :bounce: Looking good so far. Waiting to see more.

04-06-2006, 12:50 PM
waited so long to see the first modeling, and here it is.
Great one so far. At this point i'm not sure what could be mentioned right now. The first thing i thought when comparing your drawing to the ship, was: wouldn't those paddles be a bit short? I think they're great for lenght, but seeing them in perspective - like in the drawing - you won't be able to see them enough.

04-06-2006, 12:53 PM
Very good ship model.
You idea remember me a old game call GOLDEN AXE. The 3š Stage is the "turtle city".
good luck!

04-06-2006, 12:55 PM
hip hip hip hourayyyyyyyy... yes... polys are here... and you in the same time... it's nice to see your first polygones... and what a polygons... this ship comes to be very impressive, very giant... good stuf...

...good continuation Adel... we're watching your advance... go mate

I'm waiting for more...

04-06-2006, 01:15 PM
Ah Hah!!!:applause:

Great to see you have started modelling and a great start to the model itself. Of the details you have included I dont think you need any comments just yet, seems liek you know exactly how it is going.

Keep it up!

04-06-2006, 01:45 PM
This is really an impressive beginning in modeling ....yeah ....have fun my friend.

04-06-2006, 02:25 PM
Nice work so far Adel, I really like the concept, and great work on modeling the ship. Good luck on the competition :D

04-07-2006, 11:47 PM
Well, by the look of this ship (very nice style), we can expect something awesome. :)

The ship model is good, but i have a question, will you use the same style of the ship in your city? Because a civilization usually uses the same style on all its buildings and ways of transportation, ie. There is a lot of windows and a rounded shape in this ship, so i guess that the buildings of your city will have a similar look, or not?

If you need some reference to add details to your ship i believe THIS (http://www.port21.pl/article_1062.html) and THIS (http://www.ambuehler.ch/trip_reports/2003_schweden/2003-08-06/vasa-heck_big.jpg)can help you.

I've asked you before, in this thread, about the city picture reference you chosed to use, what city is that on the picture? do you know? or where is it located. Thank you.

04-08-2006, 12:37 AM
great modeling ! :) nice to be spaming again :)

04-08-2006, 02:31 AM
Hey Adel,

Wonderful start to the modeling , I really like the back of the ship with all the fine details.:bounce: :bounce: It will look really great once it is in the water. One comment, it is hard to tell in the front view you have but the front part of the ship looks like it could be more round or fuller as in the inset sketch of yours. Now, it looks like the front could be to sharp compared to your sketch . Your sketch rocks btw.

Look forward to more updates and I see you have entered the 2d challenge too. I will have to see what you are up to there.

04-08-2006, 03:04 AM
great to see you start the 3d adel! looks great and full of detail so far. nice design.

04-08-2006, 10:02 AM

oh!!! I can't wait to see how your galleon turns out -- are you using references of actual historical ships? It could be reused in your future projects perhaps if it were based upon an actual ship -- who knows, even sold to Discovery Channel, History Channel, or Viewpoint models online, etc., if you would be interested. Just a thought. Almost an inherently 'Journey' evoking vehicle...great theme!

I also participated in 2d now which I hope to finish it on time.
Wish you luck!
