hey coke~glad u join man~time for ya to do something 'finished':thumbsup:goodluck
Thz man! i'll try my best to do somethin finnished :P good luck to you too!
here are some concept sketches. i think that the direction i'm headin is geared more on the theme of flight to portray the journey, and the use of young kids/creatures/animals to emphasize on the word "begins/beginning". heres what i've got so far.
i've also got another idea of a robotic bird, and its creator/scientist letting it go, as a flock of real birds begin their migration in the background. still workin on designs for the bird though, will have some more sketches posted soon.

The art is nice, and the colors are great, but I don't know if this journey is good or bad, or how the characters feel about it. I think the second concept is better on this matter mostly because of the kid's expression. I don't know, maybe it's just me, and not what you want to convey.
still playin with the flight theme. would like to add something dramatic in the background, but don't know what yet.

That one may work depending on what u do in terms of composition! Good luck!;)
kinomoto: thx alot, lookin forward to ur thread updates as well!
werepumkin: I agree with ya man. I don't really have a solid/concrete idea of what i wanna do at the moment just sketchin stuff out, i'll try to come up with something more defined in my next update. i really appreciate ur c&c's.
grobouk: aw... shucks... thz for the kind words
sh@ke: sup buddy? thz for your reply man, i'm lovin ur updates as well, lookin forward to some updates!
anzibon: thz for ur advice, not sure if i actually need to keep the char's face facin the camera though, perhaps i'll let him be lookin up, like my previous sketch. I think that actually feels like he's about to embark on a journey. thz though, i definetely think that the face down in the latest sketch isnt the way to go, appreciate your advice.
Arc80: thz pare. doin alright here i guess. thz for ur comments, i think i'll definitely be combining some o my sketches together. good luck rin sa entry mo pare, just saw the update and its lookin even better!
beelow: thz man, good luck to you too! haven't really thought about anythin compositionwise, but i'll try to do so on my next entry.

your piece looks wonderfully contemporary, a compound of dream and determination. Starting the search of a dream at the beginning. Its very cool! :)
04-18-2006, 10:42 AM

Hi Jose, that boy looks ready to die. What a cute and tragic character! LOL
I like the concept! Give him a pose like he is about to dive off. Make it humourous ala Calvin and Hobbes! Hey, how about having his family and friends rushing at him in the background, trying to stop him from committing the most foolish act of his lifetime? :D
some more color experimentation. still not happy with the composition though.. don't know where to put those jet trails
hey henry, thz for the comments. so u like the old one better eh? hmmm, i;ll think bout that, the idea of the darker one isn't that strong though, doesn't make much sense too. I think the color's weren't giving the right mood that i wanted too. nwayz, let me know what you think about the latest update, if you still like the old one lemme know.
jeromoo: hahah, glad you like it jeromoo. that's one o the alternatives to what I want the audience to think. Its up to what the audience wants to believe. logically that contraption that he's wearin is no way ever gonna make him fly, but look into the boys eyes he really hopes, he believes (well, at least i hope it looks like that when i'm done). the audience can either stick to reality, or believe with him. I prefer not to define the whole event fully and dictate things fully, my intention is to involve them in the storytelling process with their own thoughts as well, to create their own stories from it just as you have. well... dunno if i can accomplish that with the finnished painting, but i'll try heheh. cheers

Sideache: Thz a lot. Will be dropping by to check on your awesome entry. Any crits on compisitoin and stuff would be really appreciated.
added a rough layout of the smoke trails of the jetpack ppl flying up to somewhere.
