hello folks, this is my first painting in corel painter 9. I would like to share my progress with you and of course hear tips, and opinions from you all.

My problem (i guess the bigger one) is the color of the skin and texture of it. I tried oils, mixed with air brushes, but... you know, this is not what Im looking for.

here comes two images, the first is the basic primary painting, and the second is what I have detailed so far.

Thank you and waiting for tips and critiques.

I'm somewhat new to Painter myself, and one thing I've learned is that it's best to just experiment with all kinds of brushes and different paints, then pick the one you like and work with it for that painting. Once you learn them then you can more easily recall what works best for what you want to do.

Painting faces simply takes practice, this is coming along pretty well though.
One thing I don't like is the color of the background you've chosen, it just doesn't work well imo with the light pinks. Maybe try a neutral gray, or a gray with a slight color hint in it, maybe with a light source shading the background to make it more interesting.
