High quality anim/matchm,!
Seriously impressed by the quality!!

I think that this is a class-example of where/when 3d-tracking is motivated!
Today it's gotten so easy to matchmove a clip that everyone knows how to.. the problem now is that not that many knows when to do so. To preserve a professional quality in a production you have to balance technology with gut feeling. Never compromice the beauty of simplicity, just to show of your cracked version of boujou or matchmove.

This you managed by far to avoid, and the feeling I get from your clip is; Inspiration, respect and utter joy for the technology of 3d!!!

Keep it up!

02 February 2006, 07:31 AM
oh man that was awesome!
having been thru the 3danim and vfx program myself i usually know what amount of work to expect from a student reel but i think you went above what most students cant do in the 5-6 months of school. The breakdown was nicely presented too, can we see a higher res version pls. ?
Congrats and im sure youll get a job with this.
front page worthy for sure.

02 February 2006, 07:37 AM
wow ori!
Im truly impressed with your reel. Awesome job for sure.
Everything is very well presented and very creative.

Im sure you will find job with no problem at all.
awesome work once again.

02 February 2006, 07:52 AM
wow man.. holy crap that was cool! i seriously watched the whole thing just in amazement of how much work it took and how awesome everything looked! i agree with what was said above.. insanely inspirational piece! mad props!! XD

02 February 2006, 08:23 AM
Ori, this work is so inspiring. Pls, try to make it with better compression, I think this thing deserve it.

02 February 2006, 08:47 AM
Hi Ori~
I'm glad to see your demoreel.
that's really awesome work.

02 February 2006, 08:49 AM
amazing stuff, very professionally put together with a great sense of originality. The music worked great with the whole thing and that robot following the person is incredible from idea to integration in the set to the technical aspect of it. I would have loved to see a longer breakdown, altho the way you presented your breakdown was very original; the robot breakdown, its rig..things like that would have been welcomed.

ps: and the intro shot was amazing as well, well, looks like i have only good stuff to say, no reel crit except for the breakdown comment that is usually one of the most important aspect of a vfx reel i believe.

02 February 2006, 09:35 AM
Hey Ori, Avoda Madhima!

everything looks really great!
great concept as well.

they only thing that poped out, was that in the low angel shots in the street,
when looking at you (?) from the POV of the little robot, the cords attached to head are missing...

but this is a great great demoreel!

02 February 2006, 09:48 AM
thanks for you people ! really happy to
inspire someone ^_^

Will put a higher rez version soon.

respect and joy

02 February 2006, 10:06 AM
Shit man, what can I say? You know that after this year is up I only hope I'll have made something so alive with creativity and originality as the work I've seen from you. You really showed me what is possible here at VFS and I'm thankful. I didn't expect that you could make this much better than the last edit but I was shocked again. CHILLS DOWN MY SPINE, AMIGO. CHILLS! Hahaha, anyway, thanks for the inspiration as always.
Best of luck.

02 February 2006, 10:14 AM
Ori.. you plain and simple rock!
Admit it there's 20 cloned versions of you running around.. cause i have no idea how you made such a long piece with such superior quality in such a short time.

you're the man!

02 February 2006, 02:20 PM
Awesome concept and the composition is very well done nice works mate, cant wait for the hi-quality vrs that would be nice to see? Did you use any type of motion tracking system to get the camera angles right?

02 February 2006, 03:02 PM
Just wow.. is that studnet work? wounder what your future work will be like, good luck.

02 February 2006, 05:39 PM
superb vfx ori
the breakdown is more than brilliant, i watched it aout 5 times and i watched it once frame by frame, and the ending song too is brilliant :)
its for sure one of the finest vfx quality i've seen

02 February 2006, 06:28 PM
Good job. I like it :)

Good luck,

02 February 2006, 06:29 PM

Hi people !

again thank you for your comments ,
if you could see my eye twitches from the
complements ^_- --> ^_^

Thank you heber for the host ^_^

Glenfx - awesome for the savefile thingy... pretty simple.

and 4th child (hehe) you made me realize that I didn't
put Boujou in my program credits... hehe ... used it so
much it became obvious ...

I guess I have to say that I came with a lot of computer
graphics knowledge before I started VFS, Which pretty much took
me and lifted me higher. and as for the amount of work, I like
to look at it as a big , hardcore puzzle. the little elements doesn't
stand alone strongly its the total. as the lighting is pretty simple,
the model is a freaken box ^_^ and the rig is a very simple 3 bone
ik. It's cluttering (ofir...) I guess - and a nice concept.

so yea, I used boujou for the tracking , which was quite involved
and iteresting, amazing how this software as rigid as it is... can be
approched from so many angles.

thank you for the curiousity,
happyto inspire ^_^

02 February 2006, 08:36 PM
Strange yet cool. The one thing I would change are the rotations on the breakdown shots. Maybe lay them down and translate without rotation. Its just really unclear what exactly you're looking at.

Good luck

02 February 2006, 08:42 PM

Truly VFX talent.
I'm downloading the Hi-res version..... Can't wait to see it!! I Love the breakdown very much, .
Piece of Art ~~ Congratulations!!

02 February 2006, 08:46 PM
congrats on an awesome reel and good luck  - I'm sure you don't need that :)

02 February 2006, 09:21 PM
Simply awsome!

02 February 2006, 09:33 PM
oh Man that was crazy blend of 3d and RL!! RESPECT:buttrock:

someone give this guy a job!!!:deal:

02 February 2006, 09:33 PM
That is probably the best VFX reel I've ever seen.
Great idea with your shot breakdown at the end!

You wont have any problems at all finding work with a reel like this.

Congratulations!

Edit - If I can download the High Res version, I can help mirror the file for a bit.

02 February 2006, 09:57 PM
Great Picec Ori

and you r right the high res file is dead slow, probably because over 50 people try to download it at the same time....

02 February 2006, 10:17 PM
might want to get your files up on another server as well, i can host max 1-2 days

(these front page plugs generate alot of traffic...)

02 February 2006, 10:20 PM
damn, excellent reel!

I've put it on my server (~50GB of bandwidth).

02 February 2006, 10:29 PM
Awesome stuff Ori! Can't wait for the grad screening of 3d55, lots of good stuff. Will you be there or will you have caught a flight back home by then?

Here's another. Now my server can't handle plugs like these very well so I'll have to remove it in a day or two.

02 February 2006, 10:44 PM
Great little short/reel !

The idea is very original and inspiring, i love everything in this piece,, good luck for the next !

02 February 2006, 11:08 PM

AWSOME stuff Ori, you know what i think about your reel, jobs will be coming to you!

02 February 2006, 11:17 PM

your level of creativity and ideas are very exceptional.
congratulation on the FP!

02 February 2006, 11:33 PM
great work man, is that panakronic on the soundtrack? i can appreciate your matchmoving that was cool.

02 February 2006, 12:18 AM
this looks more like 2 demo reels then one, i have no idea how you did so much work with the time constaints its insanity, well i hope everything works out good for you and good luck with whatever you plan to do

02 February 2006, 01:58 AM
Wow, that was amazing! Awsome work.

02 February 2006, 02:26 AM
I can't really think of anything other than "totally awesome job-ish" sort of drooling, non specific comments that allude to the astronomical coolness of your reel.

Best of luck -- Kate

02 February 2006, 03:17 AM
You are a CG genius~
front page stuff indeed.
It was unforgettable memory to be with you in the same class for a year.
Good Luck~

02 February 2006, 05:20 AM
this reel is absolutley amazing your sence of direction and completion of thougth are the makings for something great. Fantastic, Compositing, modeling and story telling. I look forward to hearing about your progress in the future. I think we have found our next David Fincher. Seriuosly there aren't many reels that make you feel something not sure what yours made me feel but great work i feel better for watching it thats for sure. 5 stars from me i would give you more if i could.

I am hosting you as well if it will help have sent like twenty people to check it out so thought i could help.

02 February 2006, 05:33 AM

Fantastic Plastic Machine
02 February 2006, 07:33 AM
Hey Ori,

Obviously, I think your reel is cool. However, I have some comments:

What's with the one blue hair strand and one red? These colors are overused and boring. Instead, you should make one coral and the other a pale pine green.

Two slices and a drink are $3.00, but three slices and a drink are $5.00. What gives? Should I just order the last slice after I've eaten the first two so it's only $4.50?

02 February 2006, 07:34 AM
 Amazing!

Great work Ori! very professional and inspiring work!

02 February 2006, 07:39 AM
Very cool! I hope by the time that I'm out of school that have the creativity and technical know-how to pull off something as strong as your reel is.

02 February 2006, 08:20 AM
wow excellence !
love camera tracking
5 for you

02 February 2006, 08:43 AM
Excellent....fp well deserved. I love the camera tracking the most.

02 February 2006, 09:25 AM
Great camera matching, lovely integration of the CGI. Good idea as well. The reason why I did not fully enjoy it were the nervous flickers and jitters in the editing that I thought were completely unneccessary.

02 February 2006, 09:45 AM

Ori, That is by far the best student work I have ever seen! (Hell, its even better than alot of studio work I see around)
Amazing work, well done and inspiring.
Great editing, cg integration, idea... everything fits.

02 February 2006, 10:16 AM
EXTRA!!!

02 February 2006, 10:21 AM
 Man... Thats some skill you got there! The creative breakdowns are supreme!

02 February 2006, 10:42 AM

Keep good working

Respect

02 February 2006, 11:17 AM
Awesome, awesome work. I loved the whole idea, and I loved the execution as well. Maybe a bit too many framejumps for my taste, but still a 5 star piece of work.

02 February 2006, 11:53 AM
:bounce:Awesome, congratulations, is amazing.

02 February 2006, 11:59 AM

5stars for this fantastik work ! ! !

02 February 2006, 06:55 PM
Wow dude! That's just over-amazing! :scream: This is for sure the best VFS-reel I ever saw, as it's great to see that you really wanted to make a nice final product! You really make yourself different of 'the other' by adding such a creative breakdown, and using such a cool editing and style!

Your short/reel really reminded me of the 'Believe'-stuff and of some 'Mill'-ads.

I'm sure that you'll find a job soon, especially because of the awesome difference when comparing with other VFS-people, and because of the nice exposure here on the forums! :)

All the best with your upcoming job(s)!

Nick Smalley
02 February 2006, 07:52 PM
Wow dude, unbelievable. Truly amazing stuff.

You really are an inspiration to all of us, especially those of us who are getting into VFX.

Awesome awesome awesome awesome!

02 February 2006, 08:33 PM
Thank you thank you thank you,
All blushing here like a freaken tomato.

to all the VFSers here, I guess that's how
a reel looks like , when you don't really
care about the modeling, animation or
lighting. So I had the time and energy
to concentrate on the concept , which
was in my head for 10 month... troubled
mind result... it's amazing how I was living
it. fuufff...

and about the breakdowns ^_^ I was inspired
by this video that runs online now , about
that multiple point touch screen thing... so it
came in the moment. the song as well, popped
out , and elay , a beautiful guy from VFS's sound
department made it super fancy.

this is the link for the touch screen thingy, it's
gorgoes :

Enjoy people !

love, Ori.

ori benshabat
02 February 2006, 08:33 PM
About the matchmoving... that
was a mission. It's pretty
intense to get a good track.
so I used some "Stylish" tricks...

^_^ what do you think these
frame jumps and distortions
cover??? bad track and slidings...

get creative to find solutions to problems ^_^

02 February 2006, 09:04 PM
Really well done. My only crit for the whole reel would be how the breakdown was show. There was just so much movement going on that it's tough to see the actual elements themselves. The actualy video itself is great though.

02 February 2006, 09:19 PM
Mind blowing work Ori, congrats! Very professionally done. Time for you to interview some companies.. just showed the guys at work here and they love it! All the best,

02 February 2006, 10:24 PM
Excellent work bro  Congrats on the front page plug, and Good luck with the job search.

02 February 2006, 10:34 PM
Hey ori,

I know the mission we went through this year!!!
So it is nice to see the reward of the hard work,... that people like and enjoy it.

Your reel is amazing!

02 February 2006, 10:44 PM
Beautiful Baba :)

02 February 2006, 01:33 PM
very cool ori i think your have a lot of skills dude. i like it a lot.

02 February 2006, 04:28 PM
Probably the best VFX reel I've seen come out of VFS. Awesome cinematography, matchmoving, CG, editing and attention to detail.

02 February 2006, 11:06 PM
Give this man a job!

And a muffin!!

I had no doubts you could pull it off!

Kick-ass Job!

02 February 2006, 01:32 AM
Dear lord, talk about perection perfected,.. Absoloutely wonderful , so damn inspiring too.. Awesome awesome awesome, i had to say someting bout it.. jesus ori. Looks likes a seriously intense year.

02 February 2006, 01:12 PM
Trully impressive reel Ori! The cinematography was spot on, great originality and gread vfx.
My favorite VFX reel to date!

02 February 2006, 06:24 PM

As I already expected, by knowing your tremendous talent, your project turned out to be one of the best of the best VFX piece I've ever seen! :applause:

It's just...Beautiful and Trendy. Good job, Baba!

Best of luck in the long path through your life as a CG Artist.

Your friend,

02 February 2006, 09:41 AM
Ori, I think you know this is far more than what is expected to come out of VFS. You are very multi-talented! You've pushed the bar very high for future students.
I'm glad I got to know you at VFS and thanks for all the support through the terms I was there :)
Keep in touch always, and good luck on your bio-techno revolution! haha :D

ps, I want you to look at my website sometime!
Give me your website address so I can add you to my links section :)

02 February 2006, 02:22 AM

It was an honour sitting beside you for 4 months. You inspired me more than you know, and challenged me to try and keep up.

I really love your box. I wish you had shown a rotation for it in your reel. When I first saw your box in class, the rig, the lighting, and the animation really wowed me.

Can't wait to see what you're going to come up with next.

- Pearl -

02 February 2006, 05:08 AM
Ori!! Wow, just WOW! this is fabulous! Damn its good! I remeber when you made that first headphone robot and put it into a mini video clip ... I remeber thinking ... oh man he's gonna kick but! Now you've proven me right! Congradulations, soooo much! :bounce:

02 February 2006, 06:01 PM
Hey Ori,

I won't repeat what I've already told you in person about your work, because I know how the modest part of you squirms under too much praise. :) It was great being able to know you, Ori. You really lit up the class emotionally and artistically. Thank you. And I wish you the best of luck in the future.

02 February 2006, 07:17 PM

really awesome work man ... keep it up !!!

03 March 2006, 12:20 AM
imho, the main segment ('piece of mind') dragged on a little too long, and the breakdowns are a bit tacky... but overall, very solid work... especially given the time frame... you should have no trouble landing a job (assuming you haven't already).

03 March 2006, 07:22 AM
Ori ~ I love you man.

You know I love you more than your work, which says alot, because I just love what you've done for your demo reel! What are you gonna do about all your other little pieces. You should build a website to show all of them off!!! Or make a super duper demo reel with all of them. You know I'll watch it over and over again...

You are one of the most talented and truly wonderful people I've ever met. I'm so happy to have become such good friends with you. We will definately be staying in touch and hopefully collaborating one day again.

Oh, and no crits! It's perfect! ;)

03 March 2006, 01:09 AM
Amazing work ori. creative, thought provoking, skilled. your talent shines in many areas. i really love how you put everything together. good to see your work!!

03 March 2006, 05:31 PM

Just saw your reel a few days ago. Haven't been online for a while :)

Really creative stuff baba - sof haderech!!

It's going to be very hard for future VFSers to match up..

03 March 2006, 11:58 PM
hey ori, ive really enjoy watching this piece of art, really inspiring work.

Congratulations and good luck!

04 April 2006, 04:43 AM

06 June 2006, 06:40 AM
stay in touch with me
email me if you can! (
I still haven't seen your new website ;)

miss you!

06 June 2006, 03:47 PM
Im super impressed with this work, its like a demo reel and film in one, which i think is a first [that i've personally seen] I'll be steeling that idea off ya ;) [jk]
You've certainly given me my in/aspiration for the summer and my show reel.
And I love the way you've been honest about how to cover up some mistakes but in that process it creates !

I was just looking through the credits, and then looking back here, im sort of confused - did you do the main bulk of the work yourself, or did you have that massive team of people behind you ?
Either way, it doesn't change anything for me, because its still beatiful and imaginative, having a team normally just reduces time - and can be a refining process.

Whats your next move?

06 June 2006, 08:56 PM
RagingBull: Ori will start working at studio ImageEngine pretty soon, so I guess he's either taking a computer-less break or busy with things. About your question concerning a team or not. The entire thing has been done by ori in 6 months. The people in his credits are mainly the mentors, instructors, actors and people that had good ideas, along the way. I don't think think anybody touched his work though.

06 June 2006, 09:11 PM
Ah cheers for the input !

What are the rendering speeds like then at this school ?
Must be really good !

Unfortunatly on my degree in the last year I only got 2 months on my project, had to do all the rendering at home, so was VERY tight - and SCARY !!! Still pleased with it, got an A+ [86%]
