View Full Version : SuperSonic Animation

Hey all,

I'm not really an animator (takes off the disguise), but since I built a Sonic character, I had to try him out in an animation, and a friend suggested turning him into SuperSonic. That was last Sat, on what was going to be a weekend project, but turned into 6 days.

I admit to having to take some artistic licence with his transformation, as I have never seen it on TV or in game, only still pics of him already transformed. So i knew he turned yellow, caught on fire, his hair went super saiyan, and his eyes turned red.

The video is Divx, and it came out a little dark and saturated, not entirely sure how to clean it up better. The one going on my new reel will be full uncompressed, and at its full quality. I may post stills later to show the proper lighting etc... But, over half a gig raw, to 16mbs with audio, im not complaining.

Also, the music, I did find some Sonic the Hedgehog music online, even a song called SuperSonic ( ). But ultimatly I wanted something a little more epic sounding. Not really in character with Sonic, but it did sound better than Sonic Techno....

Enjoy, (

(EDIT: A fixed version here ( )

looks good, i always did think super sonic was a little bit too much like Goku...but anyways, one of the things I would do to change this is ease the camera in and out of your feels a little bit jerky pulling out, and the camera stops on a dime...i would ease it to a stop gently.. but even's very nice to see super sonic again.. good work!

Hey kalfred,

Thanks for the reply. I totally agree with you, me camera work needs more polishing. I see what you mean, it does come to too sudden of a stop and should have hoverd there for a sec before the cut.
Camera work is definatly on my priority list of things to improve, cinematography and editing are interests of mine, but still very much a noob!!! :)
