Hey that SSS looks very, VERY promising.

It looks like moutwateringly delicious SSS.

I'd be interested to see what can be done with it.

I think that you can get Chanlum to get an SSS look similar to that. I'm really hoping that Lightwave 9 SSS(Omega?), has lots of options that can have subtle control so as to help get towards a step closer towards very realistic human skin. With 'red ear' and anything else that you'd need.

But from what I see of those screenshots I'm really looking forward to seeing what can be done.

After watching the demo video, it appears that there isn't just one SSS shading model...

...there are Two SSS shading models.

Omega and Kappa.

I'm quite impressed with that video! The SSS shader, when animated, looks quite sophisticated.

The Node Editor looks fairly powerful.

It will be nice to give it a test run once the demo version of LW9 is released in 2006.

BTW: Nice job on presenting the philosophy of the technology in the videos NT. Should really help you guys with new users.

That new video is great! Please, more videos like that in the future (ie- in depth explanations, educational approach, practical applications, finished examples, etc).

I am not real wild about the amount of explanation in the new video, when they could of trimmed that down and added more examples of SSS and its shading network. The content was great, but I felt like they could of been more concise with messsage and content of the video and saved time, bandwidth, and had a better video. The size of some of these videos is just a little too big I think. But you really gotta hand it to Newtek in bringing us great stuff regardless. Thank You

After all the hype words (metanurbs, hypervoxels, skelegons, powergons, etc) and terms that Newtek have released on their technology, you would have thought they would have name the Video "SSS", that alone would have had the crowds of folks downloading it.
