View Full Version : Mr. Nitro Grass

Required: Any version of EIAS with Mr. Nitro & Dicer + extra time to read my bad writing :)
Level: Basic
Sample Movie 1mb (http://home.graffiti.net/yhloon:graffiti.net/movie/grass.mov)
Sample Project (http://home.graffiti.net/yhloon:graffiti.net/project_sample/Grass.zip)

EIAS doesn’t come with any instancing tools, that’s why, to create grass field is kind of painful job, unless with some help from 3rd party tools, for instance, Placer Deposit from northernlights (http://www.northernlights3d.com/index.html) or FiberForge from Konkeptoine (http://www.konkeptoine.com)

Here, a dirty tricks initially discuss in Post Forum, to ‘help’ create grass field with EIAS plug-in, Mr.Nitro & Dicer, which… is quite easy, render fast, good to look from far but not in closed-up.

1. Bring in Mr. Nitro from plugin menu, set the Outer Blast = 100%, Air Resistance = 1000000, Triangles = 100%

2. Create a plane with UberShape. Than parent the plane to Mr. Nitro, drag the “time thumb” of project window, check the plane break into small triangle pieces, stop the “time thumb” when you see the most triangle pieces pointing up and down.

3. Select Mr.Nitro than export to a new fact, name NitroGrass

4. Import the NitroGrass again, scale the height to about 10, depends how high you want the grass. Now a small piece of basic grasses is done.

5. Bring in Dicer from plugin menu, chose Global Coordinates, and check Triangulate All Polygons.

6. Parent the NitroGrass to Dicer, than Export again to a new fact name DicerGrass. The reason of this is to add more polygons to NitroGrass, so we can apply the deformation later.

7. Import again the DicerGrass, than apply the deformation of Taper & Bend/Bezeir, to animate the grass field.

Hope the above explain well

here I apologies first if I made any typing or grammer mistake, and please point out any mistake that I’ve made...Thanks
