View Full Version : a lead for a botanic book

02 February 2006, 03:37 PM
This is a project we had for college, to make a lead for a book, as if it was a movie. So, i choosed an old botanic book, and after month of afford, I got to that:

You can try to get to my movie from my site (, just go to the botanic section in the menu, and you'll get this page ( Unfortunately, I know some who had problems and didn't succeed to watch it (it requires QuickTime 7) and more then that, it crashed their browser (IE, what can I say? :p), So, if you have problems, you can try to download the file directly ( or from RapidShare (

I hope you'll like it. C&C are welcomed, though the project is finished already, and i'm not going to put more effort on it, I do want to learn as much as I can from my mistakes for farther projects :)

One big "bug" I already aware of is that I forgot the title... dah (too much pasion in the work, lol)

Oh yes, it's made with mostly 3ds max, after effects (and photoshop if you consider some scanning and letters' retouching :p)

--- edit ---
I don't know if any of the links still work, but here's a link to YouTube ( Yes, it's poor... baa

No replies? No C&C? I know most of you like the mounsters & science fiction stuff, but I didn't expect that none will get connected to this kind of design/art... :hmm:

oh well... At least I made good time while doing it :p

Hey man,

I like this, i like the visual style, Ima graphic designer and ive always liked the text book style diagrams etc. So seeing this stuff in motion is fantastic.

The only crit is that in places it is a little shaky (i get that its ment to look like timelaps video footage), but when the flower is swaying in the wind towards teh end, i just think it could have been a little smoother, apart from that, well done..

Like it alot

Thanks for your reply, and well, first of all it is smoother, but maybe you're right and it should be a bit more... And second, it's always a combination of several times - in the 1st scene, while growing, the grass around blows in the wind much slower, or time still goes kinda fast, when the drops slips on it. It's not a "look so many time-velocities!" Hollywoody announce, yet it's still there gently and concealed :)

Here's a link to YouTube ( Yes, the quality is so poor I want to cry, but I don't have any other options for now.
