View Full Version : Nvidia 81.98 driver fix

This is the latest Nvidia driver from the official website and naturally you would like to use it but it doesn't work with messiah. It works first time you start Messiah but when you exit and start it again it crashes after splash screen. The reason is that messiah created it's config file from the first start. When you start it the next time Messiah reads stuff from config file and crashes.
1. navigate to messiah config file which is in c:\documents and settings\user name\local settings\temp\messiah
2. Open it with wordpad (not notepad)
3. delete first five "Format Type 0" strings or just delete first five BeginModeConfigData->EndModuleData blocks
4. Save config file
5. right click on it->properties and set it to read-only.
Messiah won't be able to overwrite it again which means that it wont save project directory changes and last files opened settings but hey, at least messiah will work. This might be helpfull to bug squashing team from pmg to try and fix this in the next release. If you prefer dark start layout delete config file, start messiah (it will work but with default configs) change to dark star and exit. Now repeat steps 1.-5. and it will allways be dark star. I know this is all idiotic but what else can we do ?

78.01 driver works flawlessly with messiah and doesn't require any fix.
81.85 and 81.98 drivers do not work.
Oh, and I forgot to mention the system it was tested with:
Drivers are all 64 bit
Windows x64 edition
AMD Athlon X2 2.64
i am using 81.95 and have zero problems with messiah...course i am not using 64 bit windows so i dont know if that is the difference

I heard new drivers had problems with DUAL CORE cpu's. So when you state your system configuration please say which cpu you are using.
