Ryan weighs in at a svelt 2464 triangles and likes gardening, walks in the moonlight and campaigning for world peace…

...and he was also on my course at uni. :)

The model has been lingering around for a while on my harddrive, so I figured I might as well post it. There's no fancy rendering involved, these images come straight from the viewport.

And before I forget, Ryan has a 1024x1024 texture, with alpha. ( (

Looks good man...and quite convincing too...but there are some areas that let it down in general...

The eyes seem to be looking in different directions, and does not seem to be centred..

The hands don't seem to be quite as descriptive as the rest of the character...they need more detailing to the colour map...

Overall in general...a spec map would work well to make it pop..but something subtle..ya know...

All the same it looks good, if ya refine it some more it would certainly enhance it...also any chance of wires?...

Here we go with the wires. The model deforms quite well, but I do need to alter the layout of the mesh around the pelvis. They're not exactly ideal at the moment. ( (

Wow, outstanding mesh! I have no complaints there. The textures look very "photo" to me though, that may be what John Woo is speaking to about the contrast/spec issue as well...I'd like to see a little more hand-painted shading and variation, especially on the jacket and face. I think some more alpha shading on the goatee would help a lot too. It looks like there is some texture shearing on the shoes. I love the assymetry in the pant cuffs!

i dont see a problem with the "photoness" there arnt any faults that give it away, very realistic, yes it doesnt look painted but hey you cant beat reality for realism.

agree about the hands though they look less convincing both in modelling(bit blobby like blown up rubber gloves) and texture(needs some grain).

Adam Atomic - The texture is comprised mainly of photographs, hence the photo look. Now you mention the jacket, I might paint a few more details on to add interest.

I agree with the goatee alpha, that does need to be redone. I think you're right about the shoes too. :)

SHEPEIRO - I think i'm going to have to alter the hands a bit. As you said, they're a bit blobby. Seems that the palm and fingers are a little too long, which is making it look a bit distended.
