Modeled and rendered with XSI, everything is mesh, no compositing (the blurred houses in the bg is a blurred map though, to keep render time down. Made for a contest over at www.xsibase.com
Lighting is 3 area lights for main lighting and then aditional spotlights here and there.....

hmmm, my thread changed name :hmm:

I think its a great start, but the bricks on the building to the left of a car could use some work. perhaps some displacement mapping should do the trick? (and send your rendertime through the roof :applause: )
o yeah, and if your thread name changed, its because the original name didnt adhere to the forum guidelines.
edit: just noticed something else. you have too many sharp edges in your scene. the curb and the edges of the wall being the main things that stick out.

bahahah! whats with the pornographic nature of that news paper?? where can i get one?
also looks like your street sign says "anal treet". quite a bit of sexual innuendo you have here my scandanavian friend. :bounce:
Looks like your liscence plate spells "bastard" hehe, thanks to shiu for pointing it out.

Well you can make an image interesting in two ways, either u do a great render or you put jokes in it...I just wanted to be on the safe side ;)
btw the anal street sign is downloaded from internet (a real sign) It really say "sanal street" ;)
This is prolly just me when I say it but the front end of the car looks like its floating. I can't figure out why I see/think this though. Something to do with how the tires touch the pavement I think. Also, like mentioned, change the bricks.
Nice job, looks great. :)

Nice work on the shaders for sure, but i'd change that texture around a bit on the bricks...especially the bottom row. That last row seems to end too abruptly for a finishing edge. Also that newspaper for some weird reason seems too out of scale for me compared to that car. If you were to lay it out flat it's as wide as the car. I know the cars are small, but maybe not that small. Keep it up!

Get your paper and read all about it. The car is really good,

The only thing besides sharp edges like Array was talking about is the lighting on the windows dont match the shadows on the ground.
What I mean is the reflections on the windows say the sky is bright and the shadows say the the sky is darker and more GI-ish.
Excellent modeling though!

is the background CG too????
12-01-2002, 09:42 AM
is it just me or do the wheels look a bit too wide?
otherwise gr8 work!

Hapzung: the far blurred background is a photo. The rest is cg.
I really wanted to bring the car out in this image so I wanted it to clearly contrast against the gackground.
Thx for the input guys
