Have fun
We will try to post one of these topics once a day for your enjoyment.

These are the rules:
* Post only your FINAL piece on this thread, based on the topic on the thread.
* RESOLUTION : The image can have any aspect ratio up to 800 x 600
* They can be done on any medium.
* If you wish, you can add a brief text description about your piece.
* Only original compositions. No "tributes" or plagiarizing, unless is it an integral part of the challenge.
* The topics will be posted every day between 10:00 - 12:00 am US EST.
* The artist also has to post total length of time it took (Thanks Clanger for the idea) and program used.
* Only final pieces can be posted on the thread. They must have been done AFTER the topic has been announced.
* Any piece caught breaking the rules will be taken off the thread.
* The topics will be picked at random from the list on this thread
(The author will be given credit). So guys keep them coming.
*You can add multiple entries, but please dont post WIP (Unless you intend to update them). NEW RULE!
*ANOTHER thread to quantify and track WHO has participated the most on these threads.

Good luck

So since I just found out Osama Bin Laden is threatening the U.S. again, I figured it would be a good time to do a Sept. 11 painting. Took about 35 minute using Artrage, pen and paper.

01 January 2006, 07:31 PM
Here's my September. I used painter and the photoshop leaf brush (I figured that wasn't cheating this time since it was a quick sketch :D). Took me about 1 1/2 hours.

september, i always think it should be the 7th month and ember resembles amber.
so my drawing would be a princes with a colier with 7 pieces of amber.:P

"Osama Bin Laden is threatening the U.S. again" as far as the dutch news he was offering a seize fire.

Wiggin Very sad. Powerful and sad. A tragic day of death and pain. This day but every time violence and hate has taken life.
jullenar This is very pretty.. I like it.

I am still doing signs Libra 15min photoshop.

01 January 2006, 04:14 AM
This is a fractal so it doesn't count... but I really liked it, I thought it was very september. :D

The only thing this sketch shares with the month of September is the title September. But if anyone can find some deep personal meaning within this, my 20 minutes will not have been in vein.

Jullenar- He looks very sad :( Very well done though. I like the zodiac. ;D
InesD- It was a sad day, and I agree hate should not be a reason for violence.
djtrousdale- I don't know what else to say but I like it.
Drone2222- Lol. I feel like that in Sept. too.
Ashton- Very interesting, keep it up.
Bear-DK- A classic kind of beauty.

Sorry, this is Wiggin I work w/ Zyrinx. I keep forgetting to change login XD

Bear-DK// Where is the focus point ? I gather its rain on leaves, so you could push the translucent nature of the leaves a bit more. The purple stem is good, you could introduce more light and shade into the leaves, pull out a hightlight or 2 and add detail to the droplets.

A good tip is to convert the image to greyscale and see how the balance of colour is working for you.

Thought I'd get out another month before I left work. The cat going crazy chased the fly to the frog.
Artrage and paint/mouse 15min

djtrousdale - that program looks fun, i'll have to check that out!

01 January 2006, 05:33 AM
Me? Late? Why, I never.

Longer than the November one, I guess roughly 1.5 hours? Still photoshop.

01 January 2006, 08:21 AM

01 January 2006, 09:43 AM
Still on Artrage.. Second try 30min, & PS (compositing & fly) & Wacom
Got drunk and wanted to do it over

Still not sure what this has to do with September... but hey!

01 January 2006, 07:05 PM
uhm 2 hours PS ;o

01 January 2006, 10:59 PM
PS ~1h15

jullenar : Nice Compo and colors, and IMO, using custom brushes is not cheating, it's just using the advantages of the digital medium ^^
djtrousdale : Interesting technique, fractals are funny things (except when you need to study them...)
Drone2222 : hehe, made me laugh, the cross hatching is interesting, just maybe a bit too random
NateTG : nice pic, there is slight problems with her anatomy though (shoulders a bit too large and the hips are too low mainly)
Ashton : Interesting compo and nice style overall, I'm just not really fond of the red bridge/balustrade on the bottom, even though composition wise it makes an interesting element I don't really get what it is and it's purpose on the pic ^^;;
Bear-DK : I think you would need to define better the shadow/light areas, right now it's kind of flat. Moreover for this kind of pics you could look at some macro photos to see how to make the composition and the background more interesting and add some depth in it.
ComradeBitter : nice one, I like the movement of the dress
Zyrinx : the second one has more volume, yet I think I liked the expression of the first one more, less angry, sillyier ^^
Kamjar Fadai : awesome, I really like how you rendered the foggy mood and the light, it's great

01 January 2006, 11:12 PM
September, the rain won't stop, every hero who lives in our heart dreams of a better day to fly.

2 hours and a half

Painter, around 1h45m, ref used for the StenGun.

British Paratrooper, Battle of Arnhem, sep 1944.

Couple of great sketches posted before mine!
