Haya Cg-talkers ! This is my finished lill' wizard's house. I'm gonna make a landscape and characters and so on....
impressions and critiques welcome :D

11 November 2002, 09:07 AM
Hi Titank...very good work on textures and nice modelling.
very original finish, I love the colors..
Full on

11 November 2002, 09:28 AM
Awsome, very vivid and colorful. Gotta love that style

11 November 2002, 10:17 AM
Haha... this blue stuff... rooftiles (?),
are in the wrong direction... this way all the rain can directly flow into the house.

But the rest looks fine...

11 November 2002, 10:54 AM
Yeah i noticed that too late, i'll have to change it... or pretend this is a house in a land where it's always sunny :p

Oooh! Neat! I love this style! I think I saw this in the WIP section. Very nice. Just fix those tiles. Question: the lights...are they fireflies or what?

11 November 2002, 03:05 PM
reminds me of something from Final Fantasy 9.....very cool!

11 November 2002, 03:09 PM
Thx man ! They're just stars actually, and a lill' magic something speeding in the background ;)

11 November 2002, 04:05 PM
Hi man !

That's awesome! Really nice!
I like the design and textures.
Waiting to see more.

11 November 2002, 04:08 PM
Hahaha I just noticed the roof tiles. They are all ASS BACKWARDS. Those are gonna let the rain!!! I love the colors and presentation of this model otherwise.

11 November 2002, 04:54 PM
Trés beau!

Nothing to critic! It's great! :applause:

11 November 2002, 05:31 PM
Looks awesome
This would be one of those things that looks cool within a fenced small yard with grass and all. Dark eerie setting. Wowzers, be sure to show us if you finish making it into a scene.

11 November 2002, 08:51 PM
oh yess!!! i like this cartoon style stuff! good work!!!

11 November 2002, 09:38 PM
Thx guys i really appreciate all these compliments, that just gives me MORE motivation to do better :D.
Good call Arjun, a small fenced yard is exactly what's on his way as a landscape ! And by the way pretty thank you Proton for your comment, now i can show off with my buddies BWHAHAHA HA !
See you soon for rest of all this :)

11 November 2002, 10:30 PM
There's no handle on the door :p

11 November 2002, 10:34 PM
HUM ! well done :D You exposed me !!! waaaa!

11 November 2002, 11:17 PM
It´s a wizard´s house. They don´t bother with door handles...:)

Great work!

12 December 2002, 07:21 PM
Here's a night shot, this is both my first landscape and first night shot, what do you think of this ?

12 December 2002, 07:55 PM
wow, i love it!
wonderful atmosphere..the clouds and the glowflys look phantastic.
are they painted?
i would suggest to add some extra lanterns to the house, it´s somehow too dark.

12 December 2002, 08:00 PM
Looks great....If I was you I would light it just a tad bit more to show off the model...Well done.... :surprised :buttrock:

12 December 2002, 09:50 PM
Man that picture is excellent. Extremely stylized work. Great job.

12 December 2002, 11:43 PM
this is really sweet. the originality of the textures is something I haven't seen in a while. the only problem i see is the roof tiles are backwards. but i know you already know that heh. awesome work:love:

12 December 2002, 11:57 PM
Salut Titank:)

Impressive job you show here:thumbsup:

Good design & texture, I like it's nouveauan look.

Crit: I kinda agree with Remi about the lighting, set more lights but not too much, just to show the shapes. And maybe for that little sparkling lightbulbs on the ground I'd say go with yellow colour to make this scene more dynamic?

Btw how the h*ll did you do those clouds??? Excellento:applause:

12 December 2002, 11:58 PM
a lot of the colors look toonish

12 December 2002, 11:59 PM
FOr some reason i have lost over a hundred post counts, i used to be at 420 posts, the hell is going on, Im not joking now it says im at 314, HAS this happend to anyone else?

12 December 2002, 12:04 AM
Really beautiful work
What's that mr voice? You want to see an animation/movie?

What, did I say something? ;)

12 December 2002, 12:07 AM
Trés belle scene mais si tes nuages etaient faits main ça serait encore mieux!
Retouche le photo par exemple, qu'elle paraisse moins realiste...En "blurant" un peu tout ça!

Beautifull scene!

12 December 2002, 12:42 AM
Im in love.

12 December 2002, 12:55 AM
post counts are down cuase of a server roll back, and just so the artist READS it

the tiles are backwards, the bottoms need to be on top of the tiles below them, or else rain and such flows INTO the house

12 December 2002, 09:16 AM
I know about the tiles man, dont break my ears like that :)

Raden : the clouds are photo, there's a massive post-prod under photoshop in here.

I really like your style. The scenery reminds me alot of one of my favorite games: Abe's oddyssee. (You know, the little, chanting green anti-hero alien that goes doh--doh--doh--doh--) Really nice, especially the last render "by night" Great work, can't wait to see a whole village in this style. Good work, man!!:buttrock:

12 December 2002, 04:33 PM
That little hut has a lot of character. Great job! Can't wait to see the style of characters that will inhabit this world. It kinda reminds me of Final Fantasy 9. Great game that was.

As for the critiques, as pointed out, the tiles don't make sense. I mean, it looks cool, but illogical.
And the grass infront of the hut looks too uniform, both in spacing and length. Make it more chaotic and varied like the grass on the hill. ;) Other than that, it looks very enchanting.

12 December 2002, 05:52 PM
Good work!
I like the magic of this scene;)

I think your cloud is too realistic for this scene:D

Good continuation :bounce:

12 December 2002, 06:34 PM
WOOOW!!! :buttrock: :buttrock: man, thats great dude!!!
but... the rooftiles again. Sorry, I realize its a shitty job to fix :thumbsdow ... Man the picture is great though. What program did you use again?

12 December 2002, 08:10 PM
i used Max 5 and photoshtop, both for texture and post-prod :)

12 December 2002, 10:07 PM
hhooooo c est baaauuuuuuuxxxx

moi j aime bien !!!

i give you five star !!!

12 December 2002, 10:22 PM
cool feel to it... really enjoyable style

12 December 2002, 11:14 PM

I love the model since it was in the WIP section. A little more lighting to highlight your model would be nice as stated.

I like the clouds in the sky, maybe the stars that are behind the clouds should be less bright? Overall a real beautiful job.

Oh, and I don’t know if anyone pointed it out to you yet, but your roof shingles are upside down ;) j/k

12 December 2002, 05:25 AM

very cool.
remember Myst.

i like all...

12 December 2002, 07:43 PM

12 December 2002, 05:04 AM
so are you going to post more pictures :D and good to know u heard bout the tiles ;)

12 December 2002, 05:05 AM
YAY. Love the fantasy/storybook illustration look. I strive for that myself. Looks great. I know it's been said but the roof tile thing is a little odd. Not something that goes un noticed but other than that it looks fantastic.

12 December 2002, 11:26 AM
Thanks for all your msg guys !
But well i have to be honnest this scene is very far from perfect and the night render helps a lot to hide some things...
But i'm letting this scene behind for a while, so that when i come back to it i'll have a clearer idea what to improve and how to do it !

So here's the total day scene !

_Anticz : yeah i noticed the inspiration in your work, i've even taken a pic of your nixye ( the one with blue crystals ) to my inspiration folder for my next scene :p
_Thx Tariel ! If this pic could bring some feelings to the viewer... i'm just so pleased about that !!

12 December 2002, 06:49 PM
really wonderful. I love it.

I want to see a character on this set!!!!

12 December 2002, 09:48 PM
Cool style!
Especialy the 2nd picture (at night) has got a lot of atmospere! I don't know why, but it somehow reminds me of "The Secret of Monkey Island", and also the second part: "LeCuck's Revenge"... *good ole times*

XerC, who wants to see more of these great night shots!

12 December 2002, 10:23 PM
This is really great. It has so much charater that it lets your imagination run wilde.

I only have one suggestion or more of a request. What if ther was a little bit of morring fog? Oh and what program R U using?
