View Full Version : CgTalk Daily Sketch 586 "April" (THE DSG CALENDAR)

01-12-2006, 01:10 PM
We will do ALL 12 months on the calendars for 2 weeks, OUT OF ORDER.
This is an EARLY MONDAY posting.
Have fun
We will try to post one of these topics once a day for your enjoyment.

These are the rules:
* Post only your FINAL piece on this thread, based on the topic on the thread.
* RESOLUTION : The image can have any aspect ratio up to 800 x 600
* They can be done on any medium.
* If you wish, you can add a brief text description about your piece.
* Only original compositions. No "tributes" or plagiarizing, unless is it an integral part of the challenge.
* The topics will be posted every day between 10:00 - 12:00 am US EST.
* The artist also has to post total length of time it took (Thanks Clanger for the idea) and program used.
* Only final pieces can be posted on the thread. They must have been done AFTER the topic has been announced.
* Any piece caught breaking the rules will be taken off the thread.
* The topics will be picked at random from the list on this thread
(The author will be given credit). So guys keep them coming.
*You can add multiple entries, but please dont post WIP (Unless you intend to update them). NEW RULE!
*ANOTHER thread to quantify and track WHO has participated the most on these threads.

Good luck

Here is my little April's Fool ^^
There is a tradition in France to cut fishes out of paper and past them on the back of people during the April's fool day (don't know if it's also the case everywhere).

April has a special meaning for me as it's the birthday month of me and a lot of friends, so...

Wacom & Photoshop - and a lot of time... 2h

I have to work real hard in my drawing skills. :wip:
I had some ideas that i couldnt implement due to the fact that i didnt want to spent a lot more time on this one. Some family people and such, instead it's a solo party...

aelwine i love you April's Fool image, very well done.
Nice entries everyone.

Photoshop, walcom, 1.5 hours
Sorry if this offends anyone, I tried to die and paint them, but they just came out looking diseased.

Wigigins - ..... We'll talk when I get to work.. jk
Matadŏr - Happy Birthday!, in april
InesD - Way to keep to a pledge
daw - Love the "month animals go crazy" theme
Vahn - Love April, it's her, 7 years later, still single, owns alot of cats.
Mecha Hate Chimp - That's one of the creepiest things I've seen in a while. Fantastic
aelwine - Great Art, never heard of the fish thing in the US but I lived in Canada and never heard of it either. I think people just aren't telling me things.

April Fools

Here's behind the scene footage from those old Cadbury Bunny commericals. The excution was very weak, due to the lack of time, but the idea is sort of there.. I hope it makes you laugh. Maybe someone else can take the idea and make better version of it... LOL

Aelwine, Hate Chimp, daw - great stuff as always
Vahn - April looks a little like Gwyneth Paltrow from "Shallow Hal"
Zyrinx - I had the same idea, but figured someone else would do it.. lol
Matador - great lighting...

very impressive work. It's really hard to compete with the great illustrations in this thread. I finally got around to painting something. I feel bad it is so late.

A creature that could entirely rid a house of its cockroach problem.
A kind of underground hero spreading justice in our house, awesome !
This was a hoax published by orlando Sentinel at April fool's day 1984.
