We will do ALL 12 months on the calendars for 2 weeks, OUT OF ORDER.
This is an EARLY MONDAY posting.
Have fun
We will try to post one of these topics once a day for your enjoyment.

These are the rules:
* Post only your FINAL piece on this thread, based on the topic on the thread.
* RESOLUTION : The image can have any aspect ratio up to 800 x 600
* They can be done on any medium.
* If you wish, you can add a brief text description about your piece.
* Only original compositions. No "tributes" or plagiarizing, unless is it an integral part of the challenge.
* The topics will be posted every day between 10:00 - 12:00 am US EST.
* The artist also has to post total length of time it took (Thanks Clanger for the idea) and program used.
* Only final pieces can be posted on the thread. They must have been done AFTER the topic has been announced.
* Any piece caught breaking the rules will be taken off the thread.
* The topics will be picked at random from the list on this thread
(The author will be given credit). So guys keep them coming.
*You can add multiple entries, but please dont post WIP (Unless you intend to update them). NEW RULE!
*ANOTHER thread to quantify and track WHO has participated the most on these threads.

Good luck

A friend of mine just got me going on painter today and I decided to make my first entry on the DSG forum. This is my second effort using painter. Time spent 1h 30m. Just tried to capture February in the mountains.

once again i had no clue what i was going to do.. i was going to do 'LOVE" as a theme but switched my mind at the last min. I decided to go w/ what i see on a February night here in the dessert... the unseen side of "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas".. lol
PS7/Mouse/30mins. +/-

miss bogey - nice bear again.. i love the running theme
daw - same. love the running theme, but the brush stroke for the kat's nose looks a little funny. too dark or something... not really sure. IMO
telemaco - nice landscape again... love how u changed the cars and added the snow...

*edited for spelling

~1h - Photoshop CS - Wacom

Kidcanuck : the compo is nice, it could perhaps use a bit more room though or make the inside of the room a bit more defined to draw the eye inside, I would have loved to peek inside it lol
Miss Bogey : I wanna hug him *_*, nice painting btw, I love that serie of yours
Daw : Funny cat
Telémaco : Hehe, nice mood on this one too, if the first seemed really hot, this one makes me feel cold ^^
Freakwncy : Interesting concept, perhaps just a little too blury

01 January 2006, 12:01 AM

Its been a pretty sunny January with no snow... so I expect Feburary will come with a vengence :argh:
I have been slacking on my months... only doing 5-15 minutes sketching..but Ive been busy and working on my site... at least I have not missed a day :D keeping with my resolution

Hey all!

50 min, Painter + tablet

01 January 2006, 05:26 AM
For this one I decided to use different brushes than I normally do (usually I ONLY use digital airbrush). It turned out pretty nice, I didn't think I would like the change. Anyways, it's been dark and gloomy the past week 'round where I live and I suspect it'll be more of the same next month.

Procreate Painter Classic + Wacom + around 45min to an hour.
I don't know if I'll participate in much of the calander; I don't know what's characteristic of all 12 months!

01 January 2006, 07:40 AM
Phew, I was feeling uninspired by the ambiguous months, but then I had an epiphany and realized that I could basically draw anything I wanted! - so presenting: the "you're not hardcore" 2006 Calander

1hr sketch, 3hr Ps, 20min AFX for the crappy smash effect. used ref for the pose, cloth

Hi Res version (1600x1200) link not working ATT

01 January 2006, 08:47 AM
akrovak - welcome and a very nice landscape!

Who said no two snowflakes are the same

you're sticking to your resolution at all costs, I see...:scream:

No, sorry, don't mean to be rude. In fact I find your determination impressive and am looking forward to what will come up as a result of your continued output..

and, erm, btw...
*searches for his own entries this year*

Nah no offense taken :D, Lol. I know my last few sketches have been only a few minutes long but I have been too busy to invest the few hours I would like to put in. I know that for me if I just dont do anything days will go by then weeks months and before I know it I would have missed 80% of these years DSG... so I have to participate often if not daily even if it is a quick and dirty 5 minute sketch if not then I will just let it slide and never get it done... Its all about building a good habit. Next step is to take the time to produce quality work :D

01 January 2006, 06:04 PM
I figured I might as well stick with the landscapes I've been doing, I hope you enjoy. I used Art Rage and mouse, took a little less than an hour to complete.

01 January 2006, 09:28 PM
The brown is my house, the red is my car. February in Colorado. The next day would be 65 degrees and sunny

Artrage, Paint and mouse 13 min

01 January 2006, 09:37 PM
artage 30 mins, afterwork in artweaver,5mins

01 January 2006, 02:50 AM
Aaklen fought too many wars and waited too long to go back to his kingdom.
He decided to leave but, in february, the sea was frozen so he had to pull along his ship.
He never came back. When the ice melts and breaks in spring, the old mariners say
it is Aaklen coming home.

2 hours/PS CS

I think I'll stick with WW2 for the DSG Calendar. Mainly because I've found a WW2 event database, so I'll pick an event a month. I hope I can complete a year...

Here's february 1945, the terrible bombing of Dresden...

Painter, Phshop, 1.5h
Oh my, this is not going to be a happy calendar...

01 January 2006, 03:39 AM
