Heya, I'm kinda migrating from CA.org
I wanna get in on this daily thing.
Looks like I have to be moderated though since I'm new, so you probably won't even see this.

photoshop cs; 1.5 hr?(lost track); i think it looks flat rather than following the form of the horse. does anyone have suggestions for how to make it look more volumetric? thanks :)http://img281.imageshack.us/img281/8006/carpet3tg.jpg
welcome beaux ..you got some cool stuff on your website ..the frontdesign-pic is really cool
pandazzled: cool idea .. some sharp darker edges.. a little more shadow on the inside and some more light on the outside top surface would make it more volumetric :)

fun stuff, I'm excited about this.
Pandazzled, about volumentric lighting - keep a clear idea in your mind of where the lighting is coming from. Then don't forget about reflected light, core shadow, midtones and highlight. Understanding those are key to form, elementary as it sounds.
Vahn, thanks. Btw, did you have a hard time finding the figure drawings on the site? I just updated my gallery to this filebrowser thing and I'm worried that when you click on 'figures' it may look like there's nothing there.
beaux: well figures was the first one i checked and there was 1 pic in it ... pretty cool pic btw :) hhmm just one thing: would be cool if you had the link back to the gallery ( in the top right corner ) somewhere in the lower right corner as well ... becuase you scroll down to see the images and it would be easier to navigate back then
01-06-2006, 02:27 PM
thanks beaux! i think i need to draw from life more, because i have a hard time consrtucting thing from my imagination and making them look real.
01-06-2006, 04:18 PM
shoot, that's what I was worried about. There's actually four directories at the bottom, but people aren't going to find them. I'll have to find a way to make them more obvious. Thanks -

overcontrast - lol...and I like the blurred background
BishopLynx - that's a great look on his face :)
beaux - welcome, and nice take on the theme.
pandazzled - really cool!! it took me a minute to realize the horse was a horse-shaped carpet...great work
deaderthanred - lol, that's one creepy carpet
Zyrinx - nice, I like the tree shadows on the store front
InesD - wow you haven't missed a day yet, good luck keeping that res. Who's Martha?

As I promised here are my comments
overcontrast HA!! that is funny! clever idea and nicely executed. My rug is also haning from a string.. but it really isnt magical nor did it suffer such ill fate as yours... I like how you did your building in the backround.. much nicer than me.. I need to stop thinking 2D equals flat.
se7evnthcin Fire on a magic carpet.. well thats accident waiting to happen.
Jannis your carpet looks good. I am not so sure about the heavy clouds maybe if you made htem softer, or more transulcent. so ewe can see your nice rug better.
Bishoplynx Great expression on the dudes face. He looks terrified and rightfully so. The guy on the backround is kind of flat on his carpet and at the angle the carpet is in it looks like he would fall off. Still great job on the guy on the front he is awesome.
Lunat1k Different style, very sketchy and ambigious. If this was your intention you succceded but if you want it to be more clear you might want to add some stronger lines or more contrast.
beaux Hi :wavey: welcome to the daily sketch, its a fun time. Wonderful little sketch. You capture the innocence of the moment very well.
DanielR Now thats a sketch! Very good work, I love the expression in the guys face.. I need to use photoshop to hide the fact that I cannot draw.. I probably should sketch more and get better at that first.
pandazzled Ah cool! a carpet that changes shape. I like it, and it doesnt look that flat tome. You did a good thing making the far side darker and shaded from the front side, experiment with making darker shadows and more contrast.
Vahn Ha great sketch, It looks like he is having a hell of a fun time.
budji funny idea. I dont know how to post attachments. To post your image just click on the little square icon when you are posting and put int he url of where your image is.. when you make a new post or edit an old one you have a bunch of options on the top. Click on the one that looks like this http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y36/inesdonovan/insertimage.gif
deaderthanredOh no its a carnivoros carpet... :scream: what a scary thought... I like your idea and that the carpet is burping :D.. burp.
Zyrinx cute idea, the little kid seems to be having so much fun.
Al Morrow Yeah I havent missed a day yet! yey me.. thanks for your good wishes :D my next goal is to participate daily but make quallity sketches and get better at it. Well thats the whole idea.
Martha is no one. I just wanted to say that the carpet is not magical it just belongs to a random person and it just seems magical because the wind is making it fly.
01-06-2006, 06:48 PM
Thank you InesD for the help.

Thank you for the comment, Ines. The end result wasn't quite what I intended it to be. Next time I'll try to put more effort.
