Hey michael, you've definitely been busy, eh? Great to see more stuff from you (though I cant really see most of it-upgrade your photobucket account!) The horse & knight you posted on the 5th is really good. It reminds me of the movie Excalibur where everything was covered by a mysterious fog. Can't wait for more.

A really good work!
Especially on the lighting (underwater)
And your spectacular 2D is very good (brushes)

01-16-2006, 03:59 PM
i think this is the fourth days, i eventually can see the first page arts. Tos are marvelous style!..
just a bit "unsure" on that sexy gal proportion wif wooden slipper. But the coloring is closer to realistic... Really a huge leaps coloring skills!

THe 1st piece high tech building is pretty cool too. Maybe u can forget bout dat chopper in the air. I kinda feel that is a warm place to live in nor a war place. (save ur time on dat too..hehe)

Ok, all the stars will goes to the THE FOG's KNIGHT WARRIROR. have u give it a tittle yet?!
Dat's the Coolest art from Mike in this new year!

Did you use Bengal for inspiration?

That samourai girl look familiar too.

But hey, nice work :)

01-23-2006, 09:00 AM
yeah~ i'm sure i've seen that, bengal's stuff, very nice used of colors~i got the inspiration for the ibuki piece from my capcom artbook, the samurai girl has a lineart, posted it in the anatomy forum, yes i was trying out aleksi's technique but its not even close.:scream:thanks

01-23-2006, 09:09 AM
Oh yeah Aleksi, that's it...
Yeah, Aleksi is too damn good.

01-23-2006, 09:15 AM
aleksi spiced up the background using artrage,i've tried using the program but its prety hard to control the brush strokes, besides there's no layers to play with.

01-23-2006, 10:34 AM
hey sh@ke,

time to just say it again: you rock!

and as concerns artrage: check out artrage2! ( It has been pumped up with new features (inlcuding layers in the registered version - but also things like freely rotating canvas in the free version)...

01-23-2006, 10:40 AM
This is Mike's online GALLERY...
Waoh...3 hours each for the above 2 action figures. this is something i can't neva getting closer to!

I like the princess monoke. Only the Giant Wolf head & front legs needs vary contrast to see the legs is behind the head. Overall the mood is der!

This is sooooooooooo entertaining...I wish I could've been there from the very beginning to root for you...darn!

Is that the way of the Oriental warrior? The chestplate makes his head displaced on his body like that....but it seems familiar...I do believe that is the case.

I really love the rich orangish/red colours in this piece though...

And I have to admit that your Underwater Romance has been in my mind since you last posted it last it finished?

Your progression is always visible... already strong, your art follow it's road, and it's a good road... seem to really feel good in this universe... born in your imagination, and like that, your art take all it's measure...
...somewhere, I'm certainly a little bit jealous man :scream: just continue...

02-15-2006, 10:31 PM

Love your work...

02-19-2006, 07:25 AM
Well, Micheal, I tend to be slow to find what I like as far as compo goes, I like creating interesting comps with, my perspective guidlines that I tend to follow, hehe! Maybe I am just getting burnt out, may take a break from drawing for a week! Hehe, Ur starting to get good with textures, nice!;)

02-19-2006, 12:17 PM
mike...very good improvement in this latest Princess Monoke..

i think the shirt need to be loosen... It looks so tight to make her boobies so solid~...Materials looks like Tube.
anyway, i am jst kidding.

u knw u r a caring entertaining painter.. hehe.

The Princess's feature looks much younger n sweet too~
The Wolf eyes maybe can give a little highlight. Wolf's eyes looks "bright" in dark atmosphere... (if not mistaken). Perhaps, i jst wan dat Big wild wolf to turn out more interesting & Spiritual thru its eyes..

02-22-2006, 02:59 AM
BlinCk - thanks alot mate~i'm glad u like them:)saw alot of ur speedy in the speedpainting thread~those are great~i do hope to see some finished work from u someday
beelow - thanks mate~yeah~i get ur point there, thats the methods i used to do the perspective guide too,but occasonally~i used 3d as the guide.
dinodog - thanks my friend~yeah u r right about her tops~i'll see what i can do to make her top loosen up alil bit~and yes,he eyes of the wolf as well

here's a piece i did last nite~a 30 mins+ speedy actually but i thought of finish it when i have time~will post the wips here.

02-22-2006, 03:29 AM

I luv this speedy art!

I think its painter mike? or photoshop? Dino, mike told me its practice that he can do it in 30mins.......that to me is the hardest part....yep....practice...hehehhe

02-22-2006, 06:17 AM
bloody double post....

02-22-2006, 06:35 AM
Mindboggling!.. How can you do that in 30 mins?

Shake i want you to do some heavy duty artworking ... stick with one piece for atleast 150 hours.. Ok Thats my typical challenge picture time scale. Yet they still suck.

02-22-2006, 07:21 AM
dinodog and maranello55 - thanks both of ya~haha maybe he clock has a problem:scream:i did play around with some brush in photoshop as well as in painter~actually my 1st time using painter~was feeling rather sick lat nite~took mc and got home earlier ,slept like hours and got up at nite~couldnt get to bed and i started doing that one just for practice:)

falcor - thanks mate~lol yeah i could use some solid hours to paint that one when i'm less occupied,i did thought of finish that angel no worries,it'll come;)

here's alil upate on the mononoke's,added some kodama's and made an update to the spear

02-22-2006, 08:22 AM

i'll be posting the final image soon~hopefully by today

02-24-2006, 10:19 AM
Fisrt impressive work.
I like the main character. But I think the wolf is really too much realistic for the rest of the picture. Or maybe it is more the girl that isn't enough realistic for the picture (bg is also really realistic). You've got very big contrast on girl, (teeth, mask) but something more fade on the bg.
So the picture seems in 2 ways. Avery artistic and great girl and more technically impresive bg and wolf which looks like scan of real photos.
I crit, I crit but it's because I really like the composition of the picture and want it to be better again. I'm completely unable to do such work :scream:

02-25-2006, 10:25 AM

Yeah maybe I need to do 3d mock-ups, I tend to take the long road when I should work 3d as my tool as, well. I really like this one, and a 1st time painter user nice! Do u like using the program??
I really do hope that u finish this one, keep it u m8!

05-16-2006, 12:25 AM

hi guys, its been awhile since i last checked into my own wip threads.
authentic, beelow, enthombed, kelandra and cyborg, thanks alot for the compliments, comments and feedbacks.was unable to proceed with the stuffs i posted here since i lost my entire folio in that portable hardrive on that theft incident occured last month.i'll try to proceed with what i have left here especially my favourite horseman and at the same time~i'll produce more works and keep this thread alive, thanks again for all the supports and the encouragements from u guys.

07-07-2006, 12:59 PM
I had this very strong impression that the girl in your avatar was Mononoke-hime, and it appears I was correct!

Great work here, nice, loose and efficient style. About the Mononoke picture in particular, the environment looks wonderfully lush. A suggestion would be about the wolf, I think he could stand out a little more, possibly by having some of that backlight showing through his fur's edge in places. :)

07-07-2006, 07:49 PM
GREAT work
would love to see more updates on those horsed knights!
Keep it up

01-04-2007, 08:48 AM
