I am a little confused here. I thought there was just one...
But there are TWO?!
What's the difference between Softimage 3D and XSI???
(I've seen XSI and it's also 3D, no?)

there are 2 '3d' programs that the company 'softimage' makes....
softimage 3D extreme 3.9
softimage XSI 2.01
They are quite different with XSI being the newer of the two. Sofimage 3D extreme is quite old but well liked and tested.
XSI is brand new and hasent made it into to too many productions yet.

SOFTIMAGE|3D and SOFTIMAGE|XSI..... It's like the difference between 3dStudio (DOS) and 3dStudioMAX or Alias Power Animator and Maya.

Thanks both, but can u give a few differences, or is it a too long list. If it is, can u still give me the most important differences?
So if XSI is better than 3D, right???
XSI can do everything 3D can?

XSI is the future and the old softy 3D is the past.

But the west is so expensive!!!
Is traveling that far worth it?
Are there many emprovements btween those products?

lets say XSI is the near future of 3D and soft3d is way way long past in all aspects

XSi is basically the same as 3.9 - just everything has a different name and is in a different place.. ;)
JJ!! XSi is the way forward for non-linear animation (had a play with XSi 2.0.1 OMG does it rock!!!)
