11-25-2002, 04:03 PM

*really* nice! the mood is fantastic!
i wonder if the left shiny housefront would look a little bit better with reduced brightness. ( but maybe your loosing depth..)

11-25-2002, 04:49 PM
Excellent Smithers! Fetch me that landscape!

11-25-2002, 05:05 PM
All CG? Can we get a wireframe? Veerrry NICE!

BTW, what package?

11-25-2002, 05:12 PM
AMAZING! i would take me years to create an environment that big! awesome and very realistic!

11-25-2002, 05:18 PM
Modeled and rendered in LightWave.

It's actually part of an animation so no photoshop retouching. The files are at home and I'm at work so I can't show you the wireframe. Hopefully and can post it later on.

11-25-2002, 05:26 PM
Just great!
And I love the colors.

11-25-2002, 05:35 PM
love it! beautiful image.

11-25-2002, 05:40 PM
Very impressive indeed, I'm still wondering if some areas are photos or not heh, means you done your job well.. May we see some wireframes? When it comes to photoreal work I must insist on seeing wireframes b4 I give an award and submit you to our upcoming gallery :) just one of those things... So the minute you get home post them up

Very very coool, the hot air ballons really add to the effect of the fantasy effect. Nice job.

11-25-2002, 06:24 PM
Woooow....that's one fiiiiiine looking still  ...damn....really beautifull...

11-25-2002, 06:34 PM
i love the sky. it doesn't look like it is done by a grid with textures. Is that a procedural sky? How do you make that?

11-25-2002, 06:39 PM
Here's an Open GL screen shot.

Sky was done in out of the box LW Skytracer so it's fully animatable

Reminds me of a futuristic WW2 London landscape.

Explanantion The balloons remind me of the blimbs London used to stop bombing runs. Though incomparison these ones are not as large. And well the futuristic-ness of the buildings.

I like it.

11-25-2002, 06:46 PM

Nice piccy.

The bright reflection in the water seems to come from nowhere. Where is the sun supposed to be positioned? Must be very low on the horizon line. Furthermore the reflection starts right on the bank of the canal/river and doesnt allow for any light to be blocked by the buildings on that bank.

Perhaps you could do more to enforce the time period aswell... it probably has to be done with silhoettes which makes it hard. The dome on the right looks like something from the 21st century. It has a silver aluminium look which seems wrong.

11-25-2002, 08:28 PM
very nice,
but change some of your cloned cathedral-towers,
no city has two of the same,
(this came up as soon as I saw the pic, sorry)
besides of that, really great,

11-25-2002, 11:17 PM
Awsome... I like it...

A small technical note... the moored balloons seem to be caught in a wind blowing to the left, but the smoke is blowing the other way.

11-25-2002, 11:39 PM
Would really like to see the animation of this one (Very subtle hint ;) ) :bounce: :) :)

11-26-2002, 12:34 AM
I would definitely like to see that on my desktop... pretty please kurt?!

11-26-2002, 12:56 AM

I'm going for a turn of the century pre technology look.

I woulda picked it as futuristic London. But hey.

I love the mood of the image!!

I'm working on a user profile on Kurt....I should have it online this week...this guy is soooooo talented:buttrock:

11-26-2002, 02:28 AM
I'm going with XTRM3D on this one...
:scream: Give us a wallpaper! :scream:
It's that good!

11-26-2002, 02:33 AM
Wait a second!:surprised

Turn of the century London?
Which century?
At first I thought we're talking industrial age... Now I've noticed something that looks suspiciously like the Millennium Dome.

11-26-2002, 03:35 AM
Looking mighty fine there. The bright building on the left stands out somewhat, might try and lose it. Could help composition I guess... It's 4:36am, so I'm not sure of anything at the moment.

Totally OT, about your (Kurts) site. I only request one thing: a way to turn off the music. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeease

I'm wondering, can you show us the detail thats towards the horizon?

I'd love to see how detailed it is.

11-26-2002, 07:52 PM
zzzRByte, my thoughts exactly! I thought thats what the scene meant to be, the river reminds me of the Thames alot too, cept the turns aren't as sharp as London's river
