View Full Version : Meshtools for 3ds max 4

12 December 2001, 05:09 PM

I just got the meshtools ( for 3ds max 4, but they don't
work properly. Sometimes it kills max with the message:
"-- Unknown property: "setFaceFlags" in Box"
(translated from: "-- Unbekannte Eigenschaft: "setFaceFlags" in Quader")

I got the german version 4.02, could that be the problem?

thanx in advance...

Other than crashes, do you have any other problems ? Because I've never had that problem and I've been using Meshtools for months. Could you describe your problem in greater detail ?

well, they just don't work. Not one the functions work. I think it's beacause of my german version, it has perhaps another source code and the meshtools macroscripts link to the wrong actions. I reinstalled them 2 times, but there is always the same error:
"-- Unknown property: "setFaceFlags" in Box" when I want to use Grow or Shrink. I get this message and then max closes. The other functions are doing nothing, no message no change in the viewport or at the object.

PS: Which mehstools are used in the timelapse modelling videos? He's bringing them up all in the Quad-Menu. Perhaps own scripts?

No, if you go to customise UI you can assign meshtools to a quad. Thats what I usually do.

hummm... :( ... I draged them in the quad menu, but
they don't work. It's just confusing. I did all the things
which the readme says, but they just don't want to
work.... :o

Not sure if this will help, but they should be called "Polytools", because they work with editable poly mode. If you are in editable mesh, they don't do a thing.

tried both, editable mesh and editable poly... and again, nothing happens :o

There's no such thing as a german version of Meshtools.

too bad :o

But now they work :D

Don't ask me why, last night, I tested some crap
in 3ds max and thought to try the meshtools again,
and they worked...

So thanx for your suggestions

(Stupid?)question :
What's the difference between "editable mesh" and "editable polys" ?
What's their limits,...

editable mesh:
you can extrude and I think bevel edges

editable poly:
you can't extrude and bevel edges but you
can select holes in your mesh and close them

these are just the diffrences... listing all
features would take most of the space on
this server :D

JuRrAsStOiL, if you go to the link listed below, you can download a file called epoly2, it will give epoly all if not most of the functionality of edit mesh.

editable poly:
you can't extrude and bevel edges

You can extrude and bevel edges in e poly.
But you have "slice plane" (working so badly that y won't use it anymore)
But it's only ridiculous differences between theses 2 modes.
I don't understand the reason forwhat discreet had separed them.

I think you have a conflict. Try removing all other macroscripts and just keep meshtools. Also make sure you installed it correctly as there are a few tricks to the install.
