Hi everybody. I'm trying to make a homage to one of my favorite games character ever. Based in some cosplayers pictures, and the original arts by Shinkirou, former artist of SNK, I start painting a picture of her. I blocked the entire drawing yesterday, and I'm posting it now, to get critics and coments from you, before I continue. Feel free to make your comments.
Some references I'm using:
The rough painting.

I think it's a great start. :)

Thanks dudes for your comments. Finally I got some free time to continue working on my project. Here's the result of some hours of painting and fun. As always, I'd appreciate coments and critics very much.

hi jramauri ! You have to change the characters left hand -it's way too long in my opinion -look at the reference image you have :)

zaki79 - In fact her hand aren't too long, but were out of proportions anyway. I've alredy fixed that, and I'll post next update soon. Thanks for your comment!

I think she needs a face-life, her eyes and nose should be moved to the top right a bit, and let that hair fall over her eye.. good start! i'll be watching this..

Here goes a slight update. It's just to correct my main anatomical mistakes, and give you a better impression of what's is going now. Many thanks for your comments, fellows.
$imon: she really needs some improvements in face. I'll do them next days. Thanks.

very nice and beautiful. her right eye looks a bit swollen though, all the best with the corrections.

Thanks Carlsden. I think I should be more careful when I did the sketch. Her face really was a little messed. But I've made some stretches and squashes on it, and looks a little better now.
I've done some smoothing on colors, and I guess the next update will be the last too, because I think this picture is getting very satisfactory, considering my level. And I like to try another things now (problably in the same subject, video games or anime characters).
Any critics or comments are still welcome.

An update. In fact is far from what I really wanted. But I can't expect that I will do a fantastic painting in one of my first tryings... I intent to do more images of Mai, but I need to study a little more about digital painting before trying. If anyone knows good websites about this matter, please let me know.

jramauri, itīs actually pretty good! I like how smooth and clean you made it look, thatīs a good quality as a painter, dpending on the style of course. The only thing I think you could have done better is the face and the hair, oh and the background. Somehow the face seems a little odd. And the hair doesnīt have the quality of the rest of the painting. but the arms and legs, the rest of the body are really great. Iīd love to see you post more work. And maybe you could post soem kind of tutorial as how you managed to get the smooth look on the blending of the colors. :)

Arielmedel: Many thanks for your nice words. I know, there are some structural problems with my image, but I guess they are difficult to solve right now. Since it's one of my first works, it's more interesting to me take all crits I received in consideration for my next works. I observed that most of crits are concerning with my drawing itself, few crits were made about painting (except for hair, I know it's not good). So I need to be more careful in next works.
About posting a tutorial... Well, I'm newbie, I don't think I really have something to teach. But you can find incredible tutorials in Enayla's homepage: www.furiae.com (http://www.furiae.com). She is really a master and ou will be pleased with her tutorials. I have to spend some time reading her tutorial about hair, because is a hard thing to do correctly.
About posting new works, don't worry, I intent to do MANY pictures in 2006!
