View Full Version : bleach fanart

A sketch I drew up of some Bleach characters in painter. Any critiques on anatomy would be cool (once I draw in the bodies) and composition. I'm trying to get my characters to look less static. The guy in the foreground is leaning against a pillar (the line). The guy's face on the bottom left needs some work yeah. ^^ And naturally, I'm not going to finish this >.<

well for now i can clearly identify kuchiki rukia renji and that shiro kid...hehehe total fan of bleach...BAN KAII:thumbsup:

ooooh. renji looks . nice! waiting to see updates :D

actually, it's ukitake not byakuya, and hisana not rukia (but they look the same anyways). bleh i'll just name them, they were renji, urahara, ukitake, hisana, hitsugaya, shunsui (who needs to be redrawn)

a tiny update, i can't draw hairlines for the life of me...i think i'm going to start holding off shading until i develop a bg idea and a light source.

byakuya (whose pose is going to be changed), kira, hisagi, and aizen

together (

I don't know the character or the background at all but I really like those sketches :)

I flipped the guy on the bottom to (try to ^^) make the composition flow better. I think that this way it doesn't keep the eye solely on the main group. I also changed the actual character, not that you would know if you don't watch Bleach.

i'm also not decided on their outfits as robes or modern stuff. BTW the coloring is all just so you can see the different parts'll still be the same style as the rest.

i'm thinking maybe i should change the composition so that the guy on the bottom notices the guy in the foreground by himself. uh...TRY to imagine a pillar somewhere near him! >.< ( (

and...some more.

i'm trying to color this for a contest, i don't think i'd win because it'd end up being on the "realistic" side which usually = boring (for me) but it's motivation to finish. it has to be holiday themed.

originally i wanted it to be an outside picture under the moonlight but now for xmas i tried to put it in a fireplace gave me a hella lot of trouble! i can't figure out how firelight affects colors...perhaps i made everything too orange ^^

another problem was brushes...i couldn't seem to find a brush type that i really wanted for an underpainting....ended up using the digital watercolors/bleach and it works really well!
anyways, there will be a lot more props like sake glasses, xmas lights, furniture, etc.

I'm having a problem where some characters appear too large or small...I did this on purpose according to their normal height but it just looks weird ^^

You will, have to just fight it, and keep working it, until, you come up with something that is solid, try shooting reference for you poses, that is if you have a digital camera, and google, pow wows or a yei-be-chi of native americans! You will probably get some stuff with what fire does to the skin, there, holla!

i got some good references from LOTR haha mostly (looked up firelight and that's what i got) so i will be applying those.

uhhh i have no clue what i'm going to do about the two men in the corner, i'm trying ot figure out how ot light them (since they'd prolly be mostly in shadow without another light) so ignore their lighting scheme...i found basically a photo ref for every char's lighting.

i wanted a really busy feel to the scene, so there will be a lot more props to come. dunno about what or where to add things though...sort of random...

thought flipping the pic made it better??

This is awsome! I love your drawings. Great lighting on the pics so far :) Keep it going!!

don't go into detail, until everthing is in place, yur color palette and especially your lighting. Once you solve those, then detail the heck out of it, but only in places that is necessary, you do not want to overdo it! good luck!

well apparently my monitor has been calibrated wrong for the past i dunno how llong (no one's ever complained though...) and everything looks really saturated and dark. i worked a lot on the characters just to have them show up that way...i tried color correcting the pic yesterday but it was just too annoying ^^ so i give up on this piece - it had to be done by the 31st.

thanks for all your help

Looking forward to an update

Hey I really like your drawings a lot! I am a HUGE fan of bleach! A lot of them look very close to the actual characters... Although I think that maybe Kenpachi is a little too skinny. Kenpachi has VERY wide shoulders. Keep up the good work!

haha, i guess no one reads my posts...that i've GIVEN UP on this piece :scream: i'll continue doing more fanart though.

here is some of my other might have seen some of it in my other thread. (there's A LOT ^^)

i was trying to go for a really heavy fluffy royal is my sketch. the hearts will prolly be in the pattern of the cloth.

after some work, i did this but i don't think i like it as much:

and a quick painting.
