These are a couple of studies I did. The first one took about an hour and a half, and the second took me two hours (much longer than i'd hoped to spend on it). They're both from photographs. I'm not all that happy with the second one, but I don't think i'm going to change anything on it since these were just for practice; I'll save my time for a more important piece.

Hope you find them interesting.

Nice work! They are a little too smooth for my liking though, I take it all done with soft edged brushes? I think some sharp detail work with a spackled brush would look really great.

Hey brendan, looks good for a study. I really think you should finish some of these pieces, either that or make up your own fantasy scene using the same techniques, but rendering them fully

Elsie>>Glad you like em. Too smooth huh? Especially the second one right? I used a relatively hard edged natural brush. Guess I just overworked them a bit. And yeah, sharp detail work would be the next step for a more finished piece. I'll try that out sooner or later.

Chris>>Thanks man. Yeah the goal is a finished detailed piece in this style, but I think I've still got a little more getting used to painting like this first.
