View Full Version : Win XP/3ds Max video playback problem

Okey dokes, I will post this in the Max forum as well as it involves Max somehow, but in a nutshell:

Win XP Pro, SP2
P4 3.0
2 gig ram
Quadro FX1100, driver (latest drivers)

After starting Max, my video playback for Windows related video files (avi, mpeg, xvid etc) gets mucked up. My computer literally freezes for about ten seconds as it loads the video file, the file plays back very slowly/stuttery and when I shut down my media player the computer freezes again. I have tried 4 different media players, all with the same results.

When I say freeze, I mean I can't move the mouse or do anything else.

This does not happen with Quicktime .mov files, techsmith files or .mjpeg files from my camera.

It only seems to happen after opening Max. I have noticed that NVidia have Autodesk down for an older driver on their website. In any event, I used the NVidia Maxtreme driver for Max.

This is getting intensely annoying as I can't creat preview animations from Max or watch video files if I have used Max in a session, unless I shut down and restart.

Any ideas?
