View Full Version : how to make those tentacles

most of you might know this pic:

how would you aproach to build the shader of the tentacles?
just a simple refelctive shader (blinn/phong/anisotropic?) with some tuning on the specularity and some transparancy;
or any more sophisitcated mr shader (dielectric) with subsurface-scattering ...

thnx in advance

the "usefulPhen" shaders for mr are not working under OSX (although they are just a .mi file and dont need a OSX compiled .so library)

... trying to get a dielectric material with bump and controllable reflectivity

I start to figure out what I am looking for:
a combination of a blinn and a dielectric material

from the dielectric I would need the LOR (glass volume)
and from the blinn the controll over the surface (reflection and bump)

how do I get there?

get the MIX 8 Layer! My franslutios i think thats how you spell it!

Also i wouldn't use a Diletric material! i would just use a base blind with attributes and textures pluged into the color bump and Spec.
