Ive been trying to make a decent one for a while now with no luck. Any body have any tips or a shader they can share?

Try using the Lumas shader in the luminance channel of yoru material and switching on the anisotrophic option in it (turn off color and specular channels for this approach), then modify it's color etc, add some fresnel reflection. Alternatively you can just use the Danel material, and do the same as you would with the Lumas shader
