View Full Version : Non Facing Ratio "Outline" Shader

I'm trying to make a ramp that basically strokes the outer edge of the surface with a black line that gradually fades off to white as it converges at the center of the surface. This would be similar to the "facing ratio" fade effect that's possible, but I need it to be more like a mask that is always opaque on the edge, even if part of the edge is facing the camera. Is this even possible? I suppose it would be like a mental ray toon shader's line stroke, but buried within a non toon-shader shading network.. I need this effect to help resolve my transparency network so it's never transparent on the edge of the surface. By edge I mean the outline of the alpha.
