Just go to the last post

you're on the right track m8, good one there

once you finish texturing it, then its one fine model

well done, keep it up and keep em comming

Nice one. Do You want to make normalmapped version?

Nice one. Do You want to make normalmapped version?

Yes as you can see i also posted a pic of the highpoly. :)

And here's an update:

There is strange smoothing on the bottom side of main window, besides this - looks fine to me.

the only thing i was wondering about is the big bulky plates covering the main rotor engine. I cant really spot this on your lowpoly version... this is quite characteristic for the kiowa chopper, maybe they are screengrabs from the unfinished verison?

if you look at this maybe youll understand:

maybe they came in many varations?

other than that, its a great model (always wanted to create a small mean fighter/support-chopper:P) and im sure they hipoly will turn out great :D

Yep, got problems with the smooth proxy there... everytime i split somewhere it pops up again, so i'm leaving it for last.

hsi: dunno what you're talkin' about! The link didn't work...

A little modified. :)

Still going to add details both on the highpoly model and later on the nm i ps.

10 October 2005, 06:10 PM
Im not a vehicle kinda guy, so Im afraid I cant give any feedback. and since you mentioned that youre gonna add details to both models, what more is there to say than just wait for a result eh? :buttrock:
but I'd like to ask you, whats this for? just freestyling, or a project of some kind? :D

did somebody take that pic of you sleeping infront of the computer at school?!
geesh, tell me about one of those myself lol :scream:

flow3d: Guess so... :D

This is for my portfolio, no project or anything.

My boyfriend took that pic of me lying in bed. :) So no, i wasn't falling asleep at school, i usually go home before i get that tired! :D

So after getting stuck for a week doing nothing, i'm working again!

The highpoly is finished i think... maybe i still will do some changes and add stuff:

And here is the helicopter body with normalmap and some color on:

The lowpoly is at 2980 tris. And only the body at 546.
BTW, ignore the IFOR text... i just put it there to see how it looked. :D

as far as the highpoly version goes, I dont see the need for it really. It doesnt contain all that much detail, that I think should be in a normal map. Except for the misilie hole thingies and some stuff on the upper sides, there isnt all that much detail to it. Its mostly a smoothed version of the lowres mesh.
so lets see, what kind of details could we add to this? how about bolts and edges similar to the doors, to show of some metal work.
and the back wings (or whatever it could be called) could perhaps need some of thost bolts and edges for sure, I'll try to google an example...
*a few google seconds later*
something like that. you could add stuff like that to all the wings and on the rotorblades..whatever they are called..the spinning thingies that make the metallic monster fly!! :D

and I dont know about the doors, they feel kinda tiny.
and perhaps you could make the border geometry in the middle of the window a bit thicker, right now it doesnt stand out all that much. it would feel a bit more solid if you'd make it thicker, and perhaps add some of those bolts and edges to it aswell!! wohoo :D

oh I just noticed some of the normalmap details on the lowpoly version. I noticed some bolts on the border of the window, but still. I think you could squeeze in some more bolts and edges here and there.

Well, since the doors, the vents and some bolts and the hole things all are in the nm, i still think the hp is necessary. And even a only smoothed verision does a lot i think. But i also think you're very right when you say there is not enough detail, *me trying to cheat and go on with texturing*, and i should have mentioned that i only meant that i was done with the helicopter body hp, and not the small stuff... when i think about it.

And i already started adding some bolts and stuff... didn't go too well as you probably could see, gonna try harder.

The wings will get detail. :D

I didn't think about the door window until you said it actually... i think you're right but my reference pic must have been like the one i made. Anyway, i wont change that now, it's too much work. That's for next time. :)

And here's a view i didn't show yesterday... dunno why..

11 November 2005, 10:15 AM
New improved

Still not perfect though...

11 November 2005, 01:17 PM
Been doing some other stuff for a while, but now i'm working on it again:

Still adding small stuff and maybe will do the cockpit as well.
The texture isn't done yet either.

Currently 3078 tris

11 November 2005, 04:35 PM
As i understand now some screens can't show my pic's because they're too dark!!
So here's some pics that's a little bit brighter. Unfortunatly they don't look as good like this, you can't really se the spec and nm very well. More will come..

11 November 2005, 05:55 PM
Looks good but it needs more dirt on the texture

11 November 2005, 08:44 PM
Yes it's not done yet... :D

11 November 2005, 09:38 PM
Just wondered if you were planning to animate, I made a helicopter and I put it in a vortex you can get some really good effects when you get the copter spinning and crashing.

But anyway nicely done, one crit is the windows they could be made more realistic, but I can see why you have blackended them out

Good so far :applause:
