I that old thread I have search how to override all my current material shader by a new specially AmbientOcclusion Shader by using the Render Layer Function of maya 7. And I've done that because , i've wanted to fine tune my lightning set in order to bake finaly that ambient/shadow pass to a texture for real time game texture convenient. I doesn't know if it's an issue from the LightEngine3D ( plug-in Ray Diffuse But I just use the Software Renderer because the "Convert file to texture" does not work in Mental Ray Renderer.

As I have already test, I can't do a "Convert to Texture File" on my object because maya return me this error:

// I select my Object that I want to bake ( Shadow/Light Map and Ambient Occlusion Map )

select -r Sol_TraceB_2 ;

// Then select the white Lambert (with Ray Diffuse connected to out.color )

select -tgl LambertAOandShadow ;

// Launch the command "Convert to file Texture", and then this error appear :sad: :
// Error: Unable to bake lighting for LambertAOandShadow, there are 2 shading groups connected //

So I f you've already experienced that type of problem, or even if you'll have a good workflow process to bake Ambient occlusion, and Shadow map in software... tell me :thumbsup:

Have you even try the rayBake command...?
