View Full Version : Baking an sss shader fails.

10 October 2005, 10:44 AM
I'm trying to bake the misss_fast_skin shader and it seems that as long as the misss_fast_lmap
(lightmap node) is present in the network, as it should, the batch bake fails.. When doing a regular render, the result is correct and everything works fine..

Any suggestions or does anyone know this to be a known limitation?

Thanks in advance.

The misss fast shaders are view dependant, meaning that they're calculated based on the camera's viewpoint. Because baking doesn't use a camera, it just doesn't work as far as I know.

Maybe, if you render the scene first, save the lightmap, then uncheck the 'write' option on the lightmap node, it may allow you to bake it because it's only reading the file and not calculating it.

Still, even if it works there will be errors on the resulting texture anywhere that wasn't visible to the camera you rendered from.
