after a little texturing spree in photoshop...here's what I came up with. (the bump is a bit low-res, need to remake it later)

Rendered out a little test...will probably have to animate the crack bump-map later to give it more realism. :wip: :D

A little preview of the animation...looking quite finished now...
cant think of anything to add.
I didn't model the car, got it from 3D Cafe (thanx!) :D :D :D

Nice work buddy, but the quality makes it a little hard to see this at its best. From what I can tell, nice crack! Might consider how the crack doesnt push the ground on the pavement? that is if it is pushing outward from the crack.

That was very nice , I love how the crack forms.
The footage was a little bit too blurry though.

thnx for the replies...it's actually mostly vertical movement...Isn't quite visible in this preview.
(I dont like the Sorenson codec, divX is much smaller and better quality)

that still doesnt work for me... it saves as a 35kb file, first thought this might be a link to an uploaded mov but it isnt... cant u upload to another server?

I agree with the other posts, this is looking real good. How are you animating the trees? The palm in the center looks especially well done.

Great work 3dsmax5 looks Very cool... i love the secondary animation. it gives it lots of realism...

How did you get the trees going, it adds a lot to the shot?
Go on, you can tell us...
I'm guessing that maybe it was a windy day, and you started the footage with a freeze frame, then ramped up the speed to normal?
If it's faked motion, then it's very good.

The palm tree is from the footage...the others are CG trees made with onyx treestorm. About the animating crack....Its a mix map with the bump map and a fading gradient, if you know what I mean. :p
