Well here it is...the final big piece for my demo reel. I want to thank everyone that helped me out and gave me support while I was creating each these characters. Without your critics and help this would not have been possible!

Without furter adieu...

The Hunt

Any other crits are still welcomed although there is not much I can change at this point I will keep your thoughts in mind for future projects.

brilliant, give yourself a pat on the back from me, well done.

the only thing i would think about changing at these late stages would be the lighting. the shadows on the tground look strong, but the lighting on the characters looks a bit blown out, and you dont get enough of a feel for the volumes, i would try giving the scene one stong shadowed yellowish light from the source, then a blueish 35% illumination omni in almost the oposite direction, but the modelling and composition is awwwwsome.

Thanks sir,

Lighting is something I deffinatly need to work on.

write 100 times "i must not bully the polygons, they are my freinds" after class.

First of all, you should be proud of this, there are a lot of different elements here that are very cool; the fact that you've included humans, animals, and terrain cohesively into one solid piece is awesome. I can not recall ever seeing all of those in one place ever in these forums.

The only thing I would change is the girl's pose; she looks awkward and mannequin-like, compared to the fluid and exciting animals. More dynamism would go a long ways here - tilt her shoulders in toward the cat-monster, spread out and curl her fingers some, make the spear more threatening and integrated.

Great work!

Thanks Adam!

I really appreicate the compliment.

The girls pose-- I agree she might feel a little stiff. I was trying to go for "surprise" so that is why the polearm is not in a fighting pose however. ;) I will try and loosen her up a bit before I do the final render.

Thanks again!

Whoa o_o Cooool. Hehe as was said, it's impressive you've got all those elements in there, it also has a pretty elemental feeling to me in the other sense, atmospheric like :) The palette is nice and cohesive and everything seems like it should and does exist in the same world, I find that really hard to do personally. One thing that strikes me is that god forbid, it maybe seems a little crowded T_T And really all of the elements here are vital, hrm. Maybe you could raise the bird a little higher over the beasties, might help create a little more room.

Think the lighting crit is a good idea, but that's another thing I'm terrible with so yeah hehe.
Roll on the alluded to final render, please!

very nice twitchy!

how about a wire and a highres version of that scene (highres as far as image size not polygons)

yay! i likey!

Ok folks =) here are some detail shots and the wireframe + 1 high res of the entire scene.

I worked on the lighting today, tried a couple different things, a GI light ball, Mental Ray and I just couldn't get a result that pleased me more than just a software render. So I tweaked that out some more and added some blue tones to the shadows. I'm going to step away from it for the evening and look at it again tomorrow with fresh eyes before I render the turntable animation.

Thanks everyone for the support and help. ;)
