View Full Version : MAGAZINE PAGES RIG for page listing

Hi there,

would you have a good tip for setting a good rig for animating realistic magazine pages as if a finger (thumb) lists through the magazine? It must look realistic so some sort of experienced and used technique would, i guess, be a good guide for me ...

I was thinking of bledshapes or simple bend deformer. However, if you have a much better solution I would appreciate if you could share it with me soon ... thank you.

oh by the way this book has to have at least 100 pages to list through in detail ...

Actually I used hair curves for last book I did.

I dont know if it will work for this finger listing,
cause I used hairs in 2d, only on XY plane,
so I extruded curves for pages.
This kind of setup works really good for book simulation
and some limited listing but hairs are often protruding
each other whatever collision sttings are. Only high stiffness
saves it but you dont have a fine paper anymore.
In your case I dont know, maybe some hair-joints-ik but
seting this up for 100 pages can be a pain.
Offcourse this all can be done much simpler as you said,
make a good animation of one page and go from that.

hmm .. i see your point. Good one, BUT I do not have Maya Unlimited .. just Complete.

I was thinking of sofbodies but then any dynamic dont give too much control unless, of course, I know what I'm doing ... so i guess blendshapes of some deformers is my only way.

thanks for the tip
