Ive been trying to find info on the web about graphic tool making and havent come up with much. Im wondering if anyone could briefly describe what exactly tool makers do. Do they actually start from scratch with all the math that goes behind making graphics engines or do they work with SDKs that venders provide? How would you learn to be a tool maker, is there any books on the subject?

"Tool makers" just program/script out tools. If your making a plugin for an app, yo use their sdk; if your making a standalone tool, you program that on your own, maybe with premade libraries to avoid re-inventing the wheel. If your making graphics tools, you would learn graphics programming; if you want to make sound tools, you learn sound programing; etc. If you want to be a "tool maker" just learn programming and the areas you're interested in. A tool maker" is just a programmer, making the tools is just a task.
