Great scene and great setting for this character, I've seen him on another of your posts and he looks great in the simple but eyecatching environment under that great lighting. Do you think the scene looks a little dark in comparison to the brightness of the 'sky'?

11-11-2002, 01:20 PM
yes, it is, i just saw it after I adjusted gamma in my comp :(

11-11-2002, 01:28 PM
what can i say my friend, now you have finished him with the the texturing and all. He just looks amazing. Yet keeping a whole simplicity about it. He kind of reminds me of the iron giant, in a very loose sense of course. Looking forward to some more updates and all. Nice web site aswell.:buttrock:

11-11-2002, 02:18 PM
Hi Viollus,

i....i.....i just love this pic!!!
This is absolutely a work of a genius!!

just one thing:
the robot is looking really curious at the cube,
is it because it 's red????
If so, why dont u put a little glow over the cube,
would be nice i think. Just a little glow in the
middle of the cube would enlighten the scene a little,
and a little mor focus on the robot, espacially if the
red would "touch" or better said enlighten the face of
the robot!!!

But this is just the idea of a
which has no idea how to realize his own ideas in his twisted
mind, but tries to give others, which are miles better than himself,
some tips.

I hope u don't mind ;)

greetz H-2-O

PS: really looking forward to an update!!!

11-11-2002, 02:57 PM
the composition is very well balanced. I love the name and the logo... kick ass :buttrock:

11-11-2002, 04:44 PM
Very nice, very nice... I just think that you could work on the robot colors, like making hands little diferent color from the rest of the body to make gestures more redable...
Good work!:applause:

11-11-2002, 05:34 PM
Lightwave render, isn't it?

11-11-2002, 07:20 PM

11-12-2002, 10:49 AM
HI everyone! :)

I wanted to avoid overloading scene with effects, i wanted it to ba as simple as possible, but as you can se I enlighted a whole robot a bit :)

THX :)

Generally it's GI with two area lights, one from back and one (wery weak) from right.

11-12-2002, 05:52 PM
Looks great.
Very nice modeling and lighting.

Only thing I could suggest is to chamfer down the edges on those boxes just a tiny bit... other than that, Great!

11-13-2002, 07:45 AM
Hey nice work! I was wondering if you could tell us all how you got the nice soft glowing edges in your render. I use Brazil also, but I can't seem to get that effect. Keep it up!

11-13-2002, 10:07 AM
Hi ,

its really nice Brazil render..... i wonder whats the render time and settings for this nice render.

11-13-2002, 10:20 AM
Cool, very good, I like it.
seems funny too.

11-13-2002, 11:05 PM
This is just glow efect from max's videopost.

Render time: about 7 minutes (no backbround, rendered separatly)

-Brazil settings:

-Image sampling Controls (P3) -

min samples 1
max samples 2
jitter samples 0,7

-Global Ilumination-

Shade rate - min: -3, max: 0
Sampling control - viev rate: 10, bounce: 1

rest of settings is defoult.

11-14-2002, 02:18 AM

11-14-2002, 02:28 AM
:applause: THat is a very very nice model and character especially since iam a big fan of just robots. THIS is awesome. CAN't wait to see more KEEP UP THE WORK! :scream:

11-14-2002, 02:45 AM
YAY!! Cool design. Got any more images of this guy. Only crit is it's a little hard to make sence of the proportions because of the overlapping in the pose. Awesome teaser image though.

11-14-2002, 03:53 AM
Really dig this character, he reads very well, and I think I like it because it's simple and well made, the scene isn't overally complicated and it's very nicely lit :)

The only thing I would like to see now is more renders :D

You have recieved the CGtalk choice award. Please feel free to display this image anywhere you like :) congrats again, well done

P.S. if you need a different background, please send me a PM with the RGB values.

11-14-2002, 04:08 AM
Great work Viollus, looking forward to more updates.

11-14-2002, 04:08 AM
I like it! And I would like it even more if the cube he's holding was a Rubik's cube. It would make more sense too. Just a thought..

11-14-2002, 04:33 AM
I'm not very good at this.. A bit rusty but here goes

Bardzo Wadne

Jia dopiero zacynam. To jest moi piewszy mieshonc. Fainie jest zobachecz ctosz z polski co to samo robi

Really nice job. I'll look forward to seeming more of your character in action.. Chesc

Oh yes, and the music on your web site is very, very cool.

Also, downloaded the sound file, awsome. It has a reel good feel to it (almost pixar-ish). I can't stop playing it. AAAAugggghh. Is the character only going to be available to max users?

11-14-2002, 03:07 PM
Looks very cool

Looks like he is the little brother to Wiro's robot

Here (http://www.secondreality.ch/gallery/3d/imagepages/buboutside.html)

Good job

11-14-2002, 03:10 PM

11-14-2002, 05:46 PM
I would love to try some stuff with the model you said would be available to download. I think the idea of independantly created mini anims as quoted on your site is an awesome idea. Where can the scene file be downloaded?

Thanks !

But (!) if it's not a problem, could you make him with the cube holding it in the hands and with a face like on the promo pic that strated this topic, and make him BIGGER :) but still on the right side ?

... am I asking too much ?

p.s. will the available model for download be riged ??

11-16-2002, 04:04 PM
Ok, i will make a new wallpaper soon, about the model; yes, the model will be riged, but if you want to do it by your self, there is no problem to delete my riging, and do it by yourself :)

11-16-2002, 05:53 PM
Is the model rigged using character studio or bones?

11-16-2002, 10:20 PM
Just bones, no CS.

This will be just my proposition of rig, i kbnow every one has his own style and techniqe, you may find my roging a little strange, but like i said, it's just a proposition

I basicly used techniqe simmilar to one showen in tutorial on Wiro's page http://www.secondreality.ch/ you can find some greate stuff there.

11-17-2002, 11:10 AM

11-17-2002, 09:02 PM

01-31-2003, 11:26 PM
I have some problems with projects server, but i hope i'll deal with it soon.

Also, I'm about to start family :) so I'm little short with time :)

I started modeling Byte, but it's conceptual modeling, nothing to show rigth now...

01-31-2003, 11:34 PM

02-01-2003, 01:52 PM
dude, that is sooooooooooooo awesome

i love the texures and the lighting

the "world" he is in is quite amazing

great work!!!!!!!

02-05-2003, 11:15 AM

Allright, if anyone would like to give it a try, you can download KILO's model (max version) with complete set of textures from projects main page http://www.kilobyte.republika.pl

I hope you'll like it :)

02-05-2003, 03:01 PM
nail? polish? or just a lot of polish people into 3d?:curious:

02-05-2003, 07:01 PM
Is that max file ver. 4 or 5? I just tryed it with 4 and it wouldn't open. Any ideas?

02-05-2003, 08:11 PM
download section and...nothing ?!?

02-05-2003, 08:18 PM
I have the same problem.

I get 2 missing "things"

1. ViewportMenager.gup
2. boolcntrl.dlc

or is it becouse I'm using MAX 4.2 ?

02-06-2003, 10:59 AM

KILO was created on MAX v.5

BABY: whot do you mean nothing? :)

02-06-2003, 02:39 PM
when it loads it says "can`t find Brazil" fair enough, I don`t have it, click open, it does, and they a lot of things are broken, the rig is broken, the mesh is kinda funny, for example the eye are huge, and the same with the jaw...

the model is very cool.. wonder what went wrong?

02-06-2003, 03:22 PM
i'm lovin this guy, definately my favorite type of character style

02-06-2003, 03:24 PM
Oh, sorry for this, I will try to find out whot is the problem, does anyone else have the same problem?

07-17-2003, 09:05 AM
Great modelling and texturing,
OK, I don't have Brazil,
it's asking for FR as well, which I don't have either,
About the rigging, did you give it a try??
Like moving the body gives strange head-movements,
You skinned?? Why not parenting??
Would you mind if I gave the rig a try?? (bones, no CS),

07-17-2003, 01:07 PM
Are you using Windows 2000?

Because it might be this:

Max & Win2K Servicepack 4 (http://www.cgtalk.com/announcement.php?s=&forumid=59)

Cheers on the model, very cool.

08-29-2003, 12:26 PM
I REALLY like this kind of lighting and the character is very colorful.

07-21-2005, 10:18 PM
