View Full Version : YOUR SKETCHBOOK SEP 10-11): Post a page from your sketchbook

09 September 2005, 07:20 PM
Hi guys, Roberto here.
I am going to try an experiment.
The idea is for people to post a page of their sketchbook.
The only rule is that it had to be drawn last week.

The cool thing with these threads is that it if you post often, it will give you a motivation to
show your sketchbook work either on this thread or next weeks threads.

So lets see some sketches!

Ever since I got my TabletPC, my sketchbook has gone almost completely digital. Haven't had much sketching time this past week, but I managed to pull this one out of my butt in ArtRage while taking a break from coding a website.

OK... I got a new sketchbook and have been waiting to show somebody. I was trying my hand at a retro pinup girl (studying other artists styles) and a random creature sketch that I didnt quite finish. Please let me know what you think.

very nice scetches! :) but... I got two questions @Brutal Monk and slangford: what kind of pencils do you use? o_O

@slangford: i love that style! very clean :D.

Thanks Tim... I really appreciate that. The pencil I used to do those sketches is a "sanford col-erase" pencil. Its basically just an erasable colored pencil. I usually start a sketch with it so I can do final line-work with a regular pencil.

Oh well, I normaly use noname pencils for quick doodling but for detailed works i use a Dutch pencil called "Bruymzeel design pencil" or something like this ( i dont know Dutch language). THis pencil have a really nice dark colors I specially use 4B. For sharp and more detailed things i use H or 2H nonamed pencil... But if you want qualitative pencil use "prismacolor" pencil

I especially like the pin-up demon girl. It's really got the '50s pin-up feel to it. :)

Thank you! It's truley an honor to hear you like it. That is exactly what I was going for. I was trying to focus on the Bettie Page era and Im currently working on painting this sketch. Though it is my first true attempt at digital painting, I've got high hopes for it.

Hello to Everyone,

These are some of the sketches (doodles) I have done recently. I may come up with a story line with some of these characters. This is some of the weirdest stuff I have drawn.
Comments are welcomed.

Thank You,

@slangford: thanks, I'll look after that kind of pencils. nice idea with that starting-scetch-with-colored pencils... think that can be a great help to take the completely chaos off the scetches.

@brutal monk: thank you :). that's exactly that what I was looking for. thank you very much for this tutorial!
