LATEST UPDATE - 11.15.2002 -

Well here it is, the first ever CG talk animation challenge...COUNT ME IN!

I have chosen to animate using the "MOVER" subject matter, though like Jason Schleifer, I have a twist on the subject matter too!

Here is a hint as to my idea: "Ole!"

Sketches, Boards and Leica Reel to be posted shortly.

Ahhhh! Mr. llama is participating. I'm unaware of ever seeing your work (especially since your web site is COMING SOON). Heard rumors though. I'm looking forward to seeing some work.

Something about a duck, some cabbage, and a tire swing. I didn't ask any questions. :)

Seriously, I heard you was a really good animator from others in the forum....but you know how rumors are. ;)

Who said "WAS" ? :shame: ;)

11 November 2002, 06:18 AM
Oh, 'was' meaning 'are'. :)

Nice save :applause:

Here is the main subject of my "MOVING" animation...not your typical "mover", but he does try to move something awkward!

damn I need to get a 16fld disc

11 November 2002, 12:27 PM
Go, go, go!
Great sketch, I wonder how you're going to turn that into sectioned geometry.
I assume he's going to move a.. bull?? Are bulls allowed?

11 November 2002, 02:05 PM
Is he going to move someting, or is he going to be moved?

11 November 2002, 02:44 PM
great sketch.

interested to see how you model him let alone animate him.

11 November 2002, 02:47 PM
Cool sketch. How you plan on animating the cape as sectioned geometry?

Very appealing character, I especially like how his eyes are covered up.. Is his pride going to get him into trouble?
Lookin forward to seeing the plot line...

UPDATE 11.15.02

Here is the character for my "MOVER" animation in 3D. Spent a couple hours the last 2 nights creating him. I will create his props and simple environment tomorrow, as well as tweak this guy, I need to iron out his proportions more...

Let me know what you think...comments and crits welcome...

11 November 2002, 11:06 AM
dig him bud  tho his leg looks to be one mesh :curious: hehe

Anyhoo yeah, looks to be fun to animation, what will he be moving?

11 November 2002, 12:37 PM
Itīs so fascinating with good lowpoly models. I really like this one.

I have two suggestions. I think you sould tweak his basque some, so it actually looks like a basque and not mickey mouse ears. If itīs a basque you were aiming for, otherwise do your thing.
How would the shoulderpads look if you divided them in the middle, so they would have a slight curve?

Where did the blindfold go? Or maybe I just missed it.

11 November 2002, 03:33 PM
I can't wait to see it animated.
Great conversion from your scketch.
Why has he got 4 fingers only?

11 November 2002, 06:18 PM
Great low poly model. I can't wait to see this dood animated. Proportions look good to me. The upper part of the legs (quads) looks kinda funny cuz it's bent on the way down due to his pants but other than that the model looks really great.

Bent...this guy looks awesome. I can't wait to see some of the animation. This will be awesome.

Well the last few days of threads have just been lost.

For information regarding this issue read these:

As I am not about to repost my old animation and rhetoric, I will post later today with an updated version of the animation.

Real life resonsiblities, work at BUNGIE and clog dancing recitals have been eating into my schedule yet again...but fear not, the animation is almost complete!

True that the challenge deadline was yesterday, but as a moderator, I cannot win any of the mentioned prizes - so this is just for fun. And what fun it is!

12 December 2002, 02:16 AM
LLama, dont let the clog dance recitals get ya down.

Doesn't matter that you're past the date, I know a lot of us are waiting to see your stuff so keep it coming. Take as long as u need to, just make sure we get to see progress.

that said, put the sake down for the night and hurry up

Where's the update? Too busy with work? Looked like it was gonna be funny. :D

12 December 2002, 09:46 AM
It is 1:45 am here and I am working on stuff for work. I wish I was finishing this peice.

I should have it done by weeks end...or sooner if I can solve this dilemma at work.

Thanks for asking.

12 December 2002, 05:07 PM
First things first of course. :) If you ever do finish it or continue to work on it I'd be interested in checking it out. Until then....Happy Holidays.

12 December 2002, 05:52 AM
Hmm, don't see your rough anymore. I checked it out before and it was coming along well. Hopefully with this extra month you'll finish him up!

12 December 2002, 08:31 AM
