View Full Version : Sculpture-Hammurabi,biomech beast

Hi guys, this is my first thread in the 2D section, although this work is a sculpture :)
The design is pretty much inspired by Doom 3 ( I started drawing it right after playing that game,) and also, I looked at Carlos Huante's design for inspiration.
I am pretty much trying some new techniques of sculpting with this piece(havent done any sculpting for like 8 months now.) I tried mixing color for the super sculpey and also got some new tools that were made by my nice sculpting instructor at VFS.
I will not paint this sculpture, atleast not yet. But I will eventually spray it with primer and do a monochromatic color.

the sculpture is about 15" high and 13" long, made with super sculpey + fimo.

This is what I got so far, I will keep playing with making the texture on the skin and smoothing out the metal part more.

I can also post the working steps if any of you guys interested in them.

and yes, I will make a 3d version of this dude as well.

I totally love it. The details do the trick. At first I looked at the drawing an I thought, well this is not scanned very well and therefore it looses alot of it's quality, but then I saw the model and I was amazed. For the first time of my life I had the "I cant belive my eyes" moment, when I just could not belive you had also posted pictures of this sculpture. The sculpture is just superb quality, the details....

Dude That is sweeet!! You definitely inspired me to do more cool stuff like this! You've always been a good sculptor..Maybe on the mechanical stuff you could use some smoothing tools or even use cut out plastic.. just to give it that hardbody feel. When i saw your first few sculptures.. i knew you're gonna be a superb modeller.. keep it up!

I stumbled upon this thread from one of your posts in the 3d section. Holy cow, that's great details there. Astonishing work man. How long did it take for you to do that sculpture?

Now all you have to do is just laser scan it into the computer and you would have done the 3d part of this project in 2 minutes. That is if you have one:applause: he he..

I used to do portrait dolls in fimo and I can really appreciate the detail you have in this piece. Great work! Your detail work is mind boggling.

Tools can make all the difference. I used to go to my dentist to see what the latest dental tools were that he had. I really got some cool ones from him.

I hope that you will show us this when you are finished. And also any other sculptures you do.

Niiiiice
Can't wait to see it painted. Are you going to bake it? Can you fit it in the oven? also, what's "bulking up" the fimo and sculpey, foil?
