Well, well, well
Hello every 3D-ist in this challenge.

I've just moved one of my 2D concepts to this section... Hope you'll like... and me have enough time to achieve this pic He He

I've used Lightwave for box modelling and ZBrush for details refining.

I love your idea man :)

09-07-2005, 03:50 PM
Looks great! You should make the stack your character is standing on look even more precarious. I look forward to seeing more!

09-07-2005, 03:59 PM
That is simply a great concept!
Looking forward to see more.

09-07-2005, 04:00 PM
Great concept (also a terrific sketch, btw); much more of a "fantastic" spectacular than some of the other concepts I've seen.

Good luck on it. :)

09-07-2005, 04:20 PM
I really love this concept! It is one of the very few truly spectacular concepts I've seen in the 3D section so far.

Perhaps a stronger curve in the stack the magician is standing on would make the composition even better.

PS the modeling of the character seems to be coming along nicely too.

09-07-2005, 06:07 PM
good stuff!

You'll have to PM me to let me know how you do the 'stealing-the-moon' trick :scream:

09-07-2005, 06:27 PM
good luck with the 3d, I am planning on doing 3d right now, don't know for sure though! Great model so far!

09-07-2005, 06:49 PM
Your sketch is fantastic. I really, really look forward to seeing more. If your final renders live up to expectation it will be truly 'spectacular'.

Good luck

09-08-2005, 02:25 AM
I didn't know you did 3d too. Nice concept and nice start. Good luck on this entry too.

09-08-2005, 02:47 AM
Great Idea. The model is moving along well too. This should be a good one.

09-08-2005, 06:57 AM
el-vio, damHerbert, andreas_V, ArtisticVisions, Kjello, mookid2005, beelow, brother_of_veg, ace4016, Pgraphics ... a great thank to you all  :)

Well I'll try to do my best, especially with the stack and the global rendering. I just hope to have enough time to complete both 2D & 3D.

Here's some quick atmosphere, light and mood tests

09-08-2005, 02:49 PM
Hey spacenail.

that´s a beautiful idea. If you get the mood and atmosphere into 3d, this image will be awesome.

good luck my friend.

09-08-2005, 06:16 PM
this is a good one ,one of thoughs you say "i wish i had thought of that" the concept sketches are really nice no crit so far man except push and perspective of the building and the shape of the clouds towards the point of action a bit more.so the eye is led in to the character

09-08-2005, 06:33 PM
wow! thats one of the best and most original entries ive seen so far.

09-08-2005, 07:01 PM
Looks very good. I'm amazed at the quality and speed of your work.

09-08-2005, 07:27 PM
Fahrija : hello !! It's been a long time since we met in a challenge ! Mucho thanks for the encouragement :bounce:
ROWAN : yes you're totally right ! I'm thinking about replacing the building by smoking chimneys !!! About the perspective, it will be a bit distorted.:eek:
Seven : thanks mate :)
AdamHerbert : there's a trick !!! ... like Disney's Tron : I draw the whole thing on paper and apply the 3D effect on the picture... He He He ... I'm joking... Lol In fact, I try to work as fast as I can. This time I REALLY want to finish a 3D pic for a CGN challenge.

Btw ... I promise to take time to have a look at your threads :wise:

09-08-2005, 07:36 PM
Very good idea, I like it !!
It's very nice, poetics and funny, good work !

Good luck guy !! :bounce:

09-08-2005, 07:44 PM
Very creative idea, I really like it, will be an absolutely beautiful image.

09-08-2005, 08:24 PM
Nice idea and progress but my only crit would be that the amount of items he is standing balanced on are inadequate. For a LITTLE bit more believability, you ought to have him balancing on more things and have them get tinier and tinier as they get further away (nearer to the earth's surface) and this will add more visual interest as well. You could have several different types of items that he is standing on too. Right now you have good variety but I want more! More things to stand on. The chair also should be smaller because it is so far down underneath the magician (things grow smaller as they get further away).

I wouldn't have suggested all of this if I wasn't extremely impressed and excited to see this image and imagine where it is going and what it could be. I hope to see this turn out AWESOME! Its very cool so far.

09-08-2005, 08:41 PM
That’s a great image already , I really like the atmosphere you’ve captured :)
Part of me loves the space you’ve left on the right and part of me wants to look into the blue mists and see a detailed world below…Great job :)

09-08-2005, 09:03 PM
ShkYo, HammaJamma : thanks a lot :)
gardogg : Wow... many thanks for this kind comments  Of course iwill take care of yours advices. Anyway this is actually a very rough picture... And i still have plenty of time to refine details, objects, etc...
father13 : thx also. As i mentionned before, there will be smoking chimneys, roofs, ...

09-08-2005, 10:42 PM

The idea just makes fuses pop in my brain! It's exellent! I liked the stack better in the original concept drawing, though the idea still is very nice.

Thanks a lot mates

Well I can feel that I won't have enough (again) to complete the 3D.
Many reasons for that : too much amazing works in this contest ! lack of time ! feeling depressed... no I'm joking :D Anyway I first had this idea for the 2D contest, so I'll use some models to find the good angle and lighting.

Good luck to you all !!!

P.S. : Greeble is a great plugin for 3DSMAX
