This is rought concept image of my idea.
I think that sport can be very spectacular.
And extreme sport (snowboarding in my case) can be even more spectacular.
And some fantasy on "extreme theme in future" will be cool I think. When I say "future" I mean some interesting gadgets like turbines on the board, robots as cafe's personnel etc.

Story is about a guy who decided to rail some cafe tables and get smth to drinnk :)

Of course, there will be other characters (humans and robots) and different stuff here. And as the challenge ends in december I guess snow will be fine for it.

Great to see you here Stepan... for sure, snowwboarding as xtrem sport is a really good choice.

Not surely very original... but I'm sure that this originality comes with your incredible style.

I'm just curious to discover how you think to present your piece.

Lemog - thanks, you're right, I'll try to make it original with style, it won't be "just a snowboarder", it will be more interesting :) and spectacular, of course.

I want to to some toon-style image, but with many details and realistic colors and textures.

Cool idea, perhaps you can add more actiont o the frame by having him grabing on to the cup (semi spilling/splashing)? Cool idea, nonetheless

Stepan my friend nice to c u join again... ur MnS enrty was really cool... i'll surely b waiting for some spectacular thing this time too!!... i love snow boarding tho there are no snow in my country, but im verymuch into skateboarding (close ay)... and yeah these xtreme sports cound be really spectacular IMO... lessi what u show us this time... wish u all the best buddy :thumbsup:

Here is just some thougts about my snowboard - it's future one (or from parallel world, remember?)

Many improvments will be made (it's just some parts I plan to do). And in final it won't be ink'n'painted.

very cool design indeed!
one crit though, the two rockets should be able to go forwards and backwards, they are mounted on, not turnable. And since they are not symetrical designed i would assume it's a one way board. And i'm sure with hooverboards people would still wanna ride Goofy/Regular.
Just a very very small crit that doesn't really effect the scene, but i just wanted to mention it :p

Next I'll replace those white cylinders with fuel system. And fix some details too.

Added fuel systems and made side construction a bit stronger. I don't think that board is finished (some details will be improved for sure, more texture work and change some copied details), but now I want to go futher and work on bindings and boots. I plan to return to board after that. Or after I model a-girl-to-ride-it :)

Ok, here it is. This is only about way for possible camera view (not 100% complete!), in final there will be cafe and mountains and rail and many more on the background and everywhere :) And biped will be replaced by girl.

Now I started to model environment so I could decide where exact will be camera and girl and other things.

PEOPLE!
Now I'm deciding about 2 major things - what will be better:

1. Environment is "usual" and board and rider are only with some gadgets etc
2. Environment is "unusual" - everything is ========^^

I think #1 will be more interesting...so other characters in the scene will be impressed with what they see (not everybody even understand what's that :bounce: ).

With #2 the board and rider will look just like usual thing...

yes, I thought about it too - and to make the contrast stronger I plan to make a "hunter's stop" for the scene - I mean a place in deep forest where hunters are gathering after a long day...and they will be surprised with what they'll see before the supper :eek: :

- "it's a plane!"..
- "no, it's ufo!",
- "no, it's a crazy deer, I heard about it from other village hunter!"
- "heeelp, it took our eat!!!"
- "I'm gonna shoot it now, stay away!"
- "but what's that exactly, so fast and noisy?"

Today I was working on trees for scene - still need to refine shapes and add snow on branches, of course.

Technology of creation such trees is very simple - drow a mask, create a plane with that mask on opacity channel and copy it several times :)

But I think it looks good enought for background for my scene. Of course there will be much more trees! And they will be show from another angle.

p.s. that "dawn sky" is just for test :) but maybe all action will took place in the evening - play of lights from fire on riders b... I mean face :)can add some specularity :)

Here is a rought scene plan. It's a Hunter's Stop in deep forest on the far-far mountains. Hunters are coming here in the season after long day, they are hungry (and some angry). You'll see later how do I plan to use this for reaching the point of the challenge.

Your tree is beautiful And you have found a nice technic to model some quickly. But I think there is an inconvenient, foliage of the branchs in the foreground is too regular ; it is obvious on branchs extremity. However, it is not really important if these trees are made for the background.

Yes, Sophie, I agree with your corrections, but as you said "they're made for background" - trees will be in the semi-dark far from camera view.

At the first time I see these trees... I think too that will be a little "just" and too synthetic... but effectively, if it's only for the background, far and dark... effect will be surely very good... well mate, the following pliz :scream: :thumbsup:

But the Idea is changed again - now it'll be really more interesting and breath-taking :bounce: The scene will take place higher than trees, above the endless forest :) the girl rider will be doing the trick at that high, stay close :) And there will be interesting objects in the forest and on the trees and the Mountain, of course. And maybe Sunrise :)

Here is the final idea (I hope). Girl-rider will fly just above tree tops at night forest...but why? Maybe she's afraid? But what? Or hunting?

You'll see it in final, I want it to be a surprise.

Видел твой последний апдейт. Слушай, на мой взгляд у девушки слишком пестрая одежда, она как бы скрадывает объем. И на счет правильности модели с анатомической точки зрения я тоже не уверен. На мой взгляд торс слишком длинный, а грудь маленькая. Остальное вроде бы впорядке.

Trying to make nice snowy fur tree for scene..there will be tens of them..not one will be copied 50 times of course, they'll be different ;)

And it's not a full tree - it's just a top of it - cause the scene will took place high above the ground.

В Максе есть такая штука (по-моему в составных объектах) BlobMesh. Ну или как-то так называется. Она позволяет как бы сливать вместе различные объекты на манер Meta Particles. Для моделирования такого снега как ты хочешь очень удобный и простой интсрумент. Попоробуй.

блобы пробовал, пока только хуже получилось, но все-таки к ним похоже надо вернуться, покрутить побольше - сразу ничего красиво не получается (и с блобами получающийся меш почему-то смотрится плоским на рендере..а тот же материал на любом другом объекте смотрится как надо). А может еще чего придумается по ходу.

что значит руками? а это чем по-твоему :) мне этих елок надо хотя бы 50 более-менее разных..вот я и ищу как можно со снегом разобраться...чтобы и смотрелось прилично и по времени не было слишком долго..а чем конкретно этот вариант не нравится? и в финале по плану особо видно -то этого не будет..т.е. пока мне надо чтобы было видно елку и снег...короче посмотрим :) Спасибо

Если всетаки вернешся к блобам, то уменьши размар исходных примитивов и увеличь их число. получше выйдет. А насчет того, чтобы все едки разними были. Ну, блин зделай вариантов 7 -8 а затем когда будешь раставлять, повораивай их по вертикальной оси, так чтобы в камеру смотрели с разных сторон. Должно создаться впечатление, что все елки разные.

mhmm this looks kinda strange, didnt expect that look of clothing, details looks nice, but like candy (very hand drawn), maybe u should take some clothing references, to look how fabric looks, the board itself looks pretty good, but the suit it self too much motley.

And i think u should make whole low poly model of the man to define proportions, couse now hands seems too short. imagine them when they will bend ;)

Here are some explanations on creating a snowy trees. As you can see I started with zsphere base in Zbrush, then converted it in polymesh, added some deformations (gravity for example) and export to 3ds max.

Then I used a free maxscript by Nik Clark (nikclark.com) to create snow on the branches (it extrudes certain faces and detaches it to another mesh).

This version looks better I think. Of course I need to spend some more time working on base mesh to make it look more interesting.

I have something to say..I decided to change couple of things..the only old model will be snowboard..I understand that I can't make some organic-cloth stuff as good as other challengers so I want to make it in way I can do it good - in mechanical way. There will be trees and there will be rider, no changes on idea (and even that surprise will be made too)

p.s. And there will be somthing to watch at, I promise.

I'm astonished a little, because you carry out superb things in organics, but you are the master of your realization. Well... now, I must wait ome news of your story... keep it up mate... I know that... maybe I will change my story too :scream: hahahaha

Yes, changes..As I don't have much time left - I want to make some fun :) the concept is totally new and crazy (a bit) - it will be some sort of fairy tale with mechanics and funny creatures.

I'll post new sketch very soon (and I started the modelling already).

The only thing left is winter and snow.

29 days left and I started all from the begginning. This is unfinished top floor of the house. With future updates and concept sketch I'll discover you my new idea (it's easier to show it instead of talking about it :) )

The house will be very unusual. This is just a beginnig - just a day of work. Everything needs many refinings.

There will be some kind of village and...it will be much higher than any snowy tree..and..you'll see :)
