Latest Update: Final Image: Ultimate Race (

09-07-2005, 11:26 AM
This looks like a great topic to work on and is going to be lots of fun.
Still have not managed to finnish a challenge yet ,but I'm getting close.
This will be the one.

09-07-2005, 01:27 PM
I have been going through some of the entries and I must say you guys are very imaginitive and creative. This is going to be one tough contest.

Every one has done so much in such a short span of time.

It's great and good luck to all.

09-08-2005, 02:29 AM
Good luck on finding a concept. I'm having trouble picking one idea:p .

09-08-2005, 05:44 AM
I still have to come up with an idea-not so easy to be original with an idea.Could not last night, had to work.I have an idea! Maybe a scene of two zouped up cars doing a dragrace on a public road- going very fast.A Ford Focus in front and the other has to be a VW or a Opel.

Any ideas eney one.

I've always wanted to try and model a car.

09-08-2005, 07:31 AM
All the best dude for this challenge:thumbsup:

09-08-2005, 01:17 PM (

Here is a pic of my Focus-will ad a carbon bonnet and some vinyls of course.

The other car will be a Civc done up.

Found some nice blue prints on the web.

09-08-2005, 01:59 PM
Interesting concept on the race topic... and espcecially in a public area... why not use some concept cars ? just a thought...
good luck !

09-08-2005, 02:23 PM
Hey Corrie,
The auto race sounds like a good idea, your car isn't going to be quite so shiny and clean as the photo I would imagine. Maybe you could have a rabbit or squirrel running for there lives to get out of there way.
Good luck to you.

09-08-2005, 02:32 PM
Concept cars sounds interesting, maybe cars that looks mean ,something that would fit into a 2000AD scene in MegaCity or something a bit more refind?

Some road kill would be a nice touch.

09-08-2005, 02:40 PM
Concept cars based on your focus could be pretty awesome maybe just characterizing them. Interesting idea though

09-08-2005, 03:46 PM
Concept cars based on your focus could be pretty awesome maybe just characterizing them.
:bounce: yeah you can come out with some very 'pimp my ride' style... :wip:

09-09-2005, 10:27 AM
I want to make them realistic looking but with chrome mags and such.

I was thinking of having them race on maybe a bridge or a suspended road high a bove close to the clouds and in the distance you can see land and ocean - throw a few seagulls in.

I dont want to make it to complecated cause I have not modeled a car before, so this is going to be trial and error for me.

09-10-2005, 12:20 AM
Well, sticking with cars with wheels would be pretty good if you goign with concept cars. I think making a way newer model of some cars would work. Try out lionTRs car modeling tute for a guide, its pretty fast, you can model a car in about a few days (2-3, but of course it depends on your expereince and such) and from there, modify it and work on the materials (shouldn't take much time). After that, you'll have plenty of time to work on the enviroment and composition. hehe, time management is the key. Maybe for the scene you could capture the two cars at a tight turn as one sort of runs into a few tables and charis set out in fornt of a restaurant and people running and of course the intense motion blur:bounce: . I hope the effects and the action in the scene turn out well, would really make the scene turn out well.

09-14-2005, 08:05 AM
Have you already decided the concept realated to cars, If yes post it soon, Can't wait to see the concept. I was just wondering a scene where the car goes directly inside the river from a high way or something, just a suggestion dude:)
Hungry for update:bounce:

09-14-2005, 08:51 PM
Hi Sonic;
Looks like you are gonna do a car too, it's very exciting! What software will you be using?
I wish you all luck and I will keep an eye on this thread!
Vrooom, Vrooom!

09-15-2005, 05:57 AM (

This is an idea to futher my scene with 2 guys racing and then there is a earthquake and the road and town falls away with the one stopping and the other cardriving of the ledge.

09-15-2005, 06:11 AM (

Ok this is another idea where there is this road that just stops abruptly into nothingnis. Now the deal is this-there is these people that loves drag racing ,but the ultimate thrill is this bridge at the edge of the world where if you race down there that the one that wins drive of the bridge he will apear on a little side road in the dark forest next to where the bridge starts. The one that looses will fall into oblivian never to be seen again.
Kind of a twighlight zone thing.Or urban legend.

Tell me what you think.

09-15-2005, 02:27 PM (

Here i have modeled a wheel for one of the vehicles sofar.Need to model another wheel for the other car.

09-15-2005, 10:30 PM
Whoa! Is that a wheel? Great design and very nice details, like the chrome work too!
Are the tyre displaced? looks sharp and nice!
Looking forward to seeing more here!

09-15-2005, 11:46 PM
cool A ! if the wheel looks this detailed i wonder how detailed the cars will be! and nice idea there !

09-15-2005, 11:56 PM
Nice wheel for sure, i love the chrome shader you've used.

Keep it up man

09-16-2005, 05:32 AM
Thanks for the comments guys.

varma the tyre is not displace but modelled.

The wheel is modelled in Inventor 10 and rendered with the native renderer.

09-16-2005, 05:45 AM
Hey nice tyre dude:thumbsup: very nice details

Keep up the good work:)

09-16-2005, 09:14 AM (

Here is the other wheel for the second car.Now all I need is the rest of the stuff.

09-16-2005, 11:20 AM (

And here is another wheel.

09-20-2005, 12:01 PM (

Here is my bridge model for my scene.

09-21-2005, 07:36 AM (

Here is the bridge with some terrian added.
As I was looking at the scene I started thinking-not always a good thing for me cause it usually lands me in trouble.

That my scene is going to look to empty.
So I was thinking of changing it a bit.
The changing it a bit part I am still thinking about a bit, which will land me in trouble most probably.

It needs to be more spectacular!!!

09-21-2005, 07:42 AM
I was thinking, what if I add some planes to the scene that shoots rockets at the cars as they race or they could even be trying to get away from the planes.

Or the cars could be racing and the planes are police that have a no tollerance policy towards racers and are trying to take them out.

Let me know what you think-some thing to spice it up a bit.

09-21-2005, 11:00 AM
Looking at your wheels, I'm looking forward to see the rest of your cars.

By the way, you should have a signature with a link to your challenge entry - then it's easier to find you...

09-21-2005, 11:36 AM
Thanx for the comment Sabrina

I think I got the link working-lets see.

09-21-2005, 01:45 PM (

I'm going to make the two car look more like dragsters from the future.

Here is the start of my engine model for the two cars.

09-22-2005, 09:15 AM
Hi SONIC-X. CARS.... I love it. I be close to your project. Have sun fun and keep it up.

Good luck.

xbo :scream:

09-22-2005, 11:24 AM
2xbo- thanx for the support. Keep an eye out there is lots of stuff coming.

09-22-2005, 11:26 AM (

Updates on the engine.

09-22-2005, 11:28 AM (

Nother engine update.

09-22-2005, 11:47 AM
Awsome engine there, how many horse power? Or was it Dragon power?
Keep on!

09-22-2005, 11:54 AM
Well it is a 15 cylinder multi valve with 3 banks = 350 BDP (BRAKE DRAGON POWER)

Just kidding around!

09-22-2005, 12:29 PM (

Some more modelling.

09-22-2005, 07:53 PM
Engine looks rocking dude:thumbsup: Nice details

Keep up the good work:)

09-22-2005, 08:45 PM
Good looking engine and some clean presentation - looks like a product vis in a way... anyways, carry on, we want to see where this engine goes :wip:

09-22-2005, 08:48 PM
Nice engine model, lot of details and clean :)

Keep up the good work mate

09-23-2005, 05:37 AM
Looks good, really like the renders. I think for the bridge you should give it more of a circular path with a bank farther back instead of only straight like that. As for the helicopters shooting, I would probably just have the helicopter chasing them with a few police cars far behind as one car makes the jump and the other car sort of tries stopping turned perpendicular to the road. Being that its a bit in the future, maybe the helicopter could be attempting to shoot an EMP device down at the cars to shut them off (no point shooting a missile at them if they are going to die anyways from the jump, missiles are expensive:P ). Keep it up:thumbsup: .

09-23-2005, 05:57 AM
madshooter-Thanks dude.

JamesMK-The sofware I'm using is Autodesk Inventor (parametric modeller for engineering) and the engine is rendered with the renderer that ships with it which is for presentations.

Goul-Thanks for the support.

ace4016-Once have all or most of the vehicles done I'm going to have a relook at the terrain because I want a nice close up of the two cars.I was thinking of having the front car half of the bridge and the other one braking sideways. The emp sounds like a good thing.

09-23-2005, 07:10 AM
Car modeling comes very good mate... surely a very spectacular way in your concept... wishes for your continuation. Then, I will follow this mechanical thread

09-23-2005, 07:42 AM
Thanks lemog - I'm busy modelling as I'm typing this.

09-23-2005, 12:01 PM (

Here is one view of the suspension.

09-23-2005, 12:33 PM (

Here is another view of the suspension.
Used inventor 10 renderer and standard materials that ships with it.

09-23-2005, 05:31 PM
Hi SONIC-X. WOW .Whats happening here. I was lost in the World just for a few days and i see your Thread. COOL Stuffs man.
Well as i can see you are also a machine. I found 2 people in 2d and they are also machines. KEEP going.

Just my first 2 critics for your Suspension.
The upper arms.... they are not strong enough. Be careful with that. Chace also the colors for the screws.
The second one is. Your break. Looks no natural and looks like a toy a little bit.

For the rest mmmmm i will see more.

Go go go man.

xbo :scream:

PS... i forgot the second engine is the best. In my opinion.

09-24-2005, 02:13 AM
hehe, your doing modelling Lemog style (Modelling everything as it is in the real world even though it will most likely not be seen in the scene:p ). Curious if Inventor allows textures being that its really an engineering app. I may have to use it, one day:P .

09-24-2005, 08:05 AM
Hi Corrie, great mechanical modeling! It should be spectacular in the end. Cool work there.

Good luck with it:)

09-24-2005, 08:18 PM
You are doing some impressive modeling work on the details here. Great job and I'm looking forward to see all these details pulled together!

09-26-2005, 05:58 AM
Tkanks for the interest and the crits I appreciate it.

I dont whant to put in to much details on the brake 2xbo cause youl only see little of it if any in the end.

09-26-2005, 06:28 AM (

Here it is starting to come together a bit now.

09-26-2005, 06:31 AM (

09-27-2005, 12:47 PM (

Here Ihave started to model the exhaust system.

09-27-2005, 12:50 PM (

You can also see that I have started with the rest of the chassis.

09-27-2005, 12:52 PM (

Here I have finnished most of the exhaust system and the indents on the chassis for the housing.

09-27-2005, 12:56 PM
Thanks Lemog and LAURO_MX for your support- glad you like and will try not to dissipoint.I work on this every chance I get and love seeing the model grow.

09-27-2005, 02:41 PM
Great details man . I hope we can see all this one in the final image .

09-27-2005, 03:41 PM

auwa, awsome machine....w 30 cylinders! That's THE engine ! wow :D
I hope i could hear the noise of a such enormous engine a day.

It's great, but there is exhausts tubes only for 10 of the 30 cylinders, just need to add some more :D ( it's just a technical detail, forget it if the engine is masked in the end)

09-28-2005, 02:03 PM (

This is an update on my chassis frame.

09-28-2005, 02:05 PM (

And a nother view of car and chassis. Now I'm going to carry one with the rest of the engine and the rest of the tub.

09-28-2005, 02:19 PM
Goul- there is actualy only 15 cylinders, but I'm going to make the centre row not work like a normal internal combustion engine of to day, but say that the centre row works more like a piston compressor feeding the other two banks forced induction style- futuristic sort of.I'll add some more parts to the centre bank/compressor unit to distinguish it from the rest- like a sort of a inlet system with some wicked filters ect.

Realy glad you like it ,lots more comming-keep an eye out.

09-28-2005, 04:54 PM
Your modeling is a great deal faster than the race itself :) amazing details. In fact, I'll buy the first 2 of those cars that roll out of the production pipeline. Can I use CGTalk currency? (hope there will be one soon lol ...). Already subscribed to the thread and following closely! Good luck!

09-28-2005, 07:49 PM
Goul- there is actualy only 15 cylinders

Hehe ok :D ...

Well yeah a compressor will add a more agressive look at the whole vehicle.
I will check for the next updates, will be interesting :)

09-28-2005, 08:14 PM
Hey SONIC-X, this just looks great man! I'm especially taken with all those details:thumbsup:

09-29-2005, 06:38 AM
Hi. thanks a lot SONIC-X . i realy like you. its realy cool, and exactly is what i needed.could you please give use a close shot of a wheel where it join the body.its my problem. i want to find out how that area in work. and again please dont forget in all view, i mean top,left,.... because i want to build it based on your model (if you allow me.:scream: ). and again thanks a lot. wish you good luck.

09-29-2005, 09:56 AM
Thanks you guys for the support.

Digital_Rebellion - I will let you know when the production line is starting-(still in R+D faze)

Goul - Keep aneye out.

DaddyMack - I love details a lot.

ali_rahimi_3d - I'll see what I can do.

09-30-2005, 05:52 AM (

It is great to know there is people interested in my entry.

I'm a bit tied up right now so I have not had time to post more work ,I have some updates.
Maybe later today.

10-06-2005, 11:06 AM (

At last I found some time to post some progress.Luckely there is still some time left and I try to work on my scene every day eccept on week-ends(week-ends are always bussy).Modelling wise there is not to much left on this car. Then I'll start with the other one.

10-06-2005, 11:08 AM (

Here is a different view.

10-07-2005, 07:38 AM
Ah, an almost completed car:) . Great work:thumbsup: . Will you stick to this toon rendering or go to a more realistic look?

10-07-2005, 07:43 AM
Always a very attractive model and modelization... always more... :scream:

10-07-2005, 08:53 AM
daWinky-Hi Sabrina I am trying to find more time to finnish the rest so I can get to some other elemants of the scene.
The toon shader is actualy what the modeling inviroment looks like that I am modelling in.I'm going for a realistic look at the end. Thanks for the support.

Lemog-Thanks for the support and good luck with the angel.

10-07-2005, 09:16 AM
Now thats a car you don't see every day!

Nice design, Hot Rod sci-fi car,....

Incredible details... always a great pleasure for my eyes... thanks mate

10-10-2005, 07:25 AM
Very impressive detail. Like the machinery and the detail of construction allot.

10-10-2005, 08:36 AM
Nice car dude , I like it, make it real!
good luck!

10-10-2005, 09:13 AM
hei man! cool updates here! the mechanics modeled look very realistic! good work !

10-11-2005, 10:56 AM (

I started playing with some textures here.Rendered with max scanline and skylight + 1 hdri map.

10-11-2005, 12:13 PM (

Just to show from two sides with tyre and rim.

10-11-2005, 02:37 PM
Man, those details ARE spectacular!!!

10-11-2005, 03:41 PM
Man you seem to be an expert in car building, surely you could build one for real and a stylish one with that! Excellent work:thumbsup: :)

10-11-2005, 03:58 PM (

Here is all of the car that I have modeled so far textured. Now I have to model the rest of the body panels but I don't whant to have them hide all of the detail.

10-11-2005, 04:01 PM (

Here is a close up of the front so far for those who like details.I will try to finnish the rest of the car tommorrow cause It is now time for me to go home.

10-11-2005, 04:08 PM
Very beautiful rendering... very pleasant... great mechanical moment

10-11-2005, 04:12 PM
Amazing stuff right here !
Didn't see that thread before !
I'm happy to know it now ! great mechanical modeling and the renders are great too !
I will follow this thread !

10-12-2005, 05:49 AM

10-12-2005, 05:55 AM
Awesome work dude, very nice details:thumbsup:

10-12-2005, 07:06 AM
As always amazing details:thumbsup: . Like your texturing!:)

10-12-2005, 09:50 AM (

Here is a sequence to show the progress on the body of the ca so far and to show a little bit how I model in Autodesk Inventor.

10-12-2005, 10:39 AM
hmmm,. then you will not be able to dee all the details under the body??

or will you be showing detail images on the final picture??

i think there was one screw missing...
sorry, just kidding :D , very high detail.

10-12-2005, 11:10 AM
I know another guy like him, which takes pleasure to make details, to show them, and then to hide them. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: hahahaha :scream:

10-12-2005, 11:37 AM
Wait guys,I'm going to find some way to show the details in the scene-don't know how yet.

I sometimes get carried away with the details when I model in Inventor because it is quite easy to do things in it and the machine I'm using(belongs to my work) does not bog down easyly.

10-12-2005, 11:43 AM
Wait guys,I'm going to find some way to show the details in the scene-don't know how yet.
a cutaway as my D520 ( ?

10-12-2005, 11:46 AM (

Here is some more updates. Here is the lights added and the bottom grill and O, thats all for now.Lets work some more.

10-12-2005, 11:52 AM
Lemog-That cutaway looks brilliant. It is not a bad idea mmmmmm!

10-13-2005, 08:33 AM
Hi. realy cool SONIC-X. i realy like it . good luck man

10-13-2005, 09:10 AM
I know another guy like him, which takes pleasure to make details, to show them, and then to hide them. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: hahahaha :scream:

Who is it ? :)

You talk about U at the third person ?

10-13-2005, 09:53 AM
Who is it ? :)

You talk about U at the third person ?

yes, we are some guys, in the history... to do the same thing :scream: hahahaha :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

(sorry for the spam Corrie...)

10-13-2005, 09:57 AM
I love cars.. if they can go fast.. and this car just seems to beg about that... :bounce:
and the colors is good to.. like the blueshade... :)

10-13-2005, 11:29 AM
ali_rahimi_3d-Hope you found those close-ups usefull.

makaron-I also love cars and this one is super fast. Thanks for the support.

And thanks to ever one else watching this tread.

10-13-2005, 11:32 AM (

Here is the next installment. Now this car is finnished modelled.I'll try to make a nice render of the car later today.

Tell me what you think of the car.

A closer view is needed ! In a big resolution please !
Thanks for your work Corrie !

10-13-2005, 12:59 PM
Wow SONIC-X... I'll make mine the words of gpepper... the details are truly amazing. Good luck.

10-13-2005, 02:13 PM (

Here is a rendering with the shaders.I'm still going to play with the shaders a little bit once the car is in the scene.I'm bussy rendering a nother angle which I'll post when it is finnished.

All comments are welcome.

10-13-2005, 02:42 PM (

Here is the other angle.Enjoy.

10-13-2005, 09:49 PM
Rocking as you always do dude:thumbsup: Absolutely no crits:) Car looks real cool:thumbsup:

This car render is my new wall paper:)

10-13-2005, 10:50 PM
It's really fun seeing all those pieces coming together, hope you can keep as much
those finer details as possible! Great shader by the way!

10-14-2005, 04:59 AM
Absolutely awesome mate... fantastic "together" result... beautiful rendering

10-14-2005, 06:01 AM
amazing engine on wheels !

10-14-2005, 06:54 AM
madshooter- I'm honnored that you like my work to use as a wall paper.

varma- Thanks for the comments.I think after the 3rd try I was happy with the shader.I might tweak the color maybe later on.

Lemog- I'm glad you you like it.

gpepper- Thanks for the support.

10-14-2005, 08:47 AM (

OK. I know I'm posting alot of renders of the car ,but I'm having so much fun.
This is for Lemog and Madshooter, a cut away showing some details.

10-14-2005, 10:02 AM
Auwa, that's a real monster

Reminds me some super-stock races, but with a car :scream:

10-14-2005, 11:50 AM
Marvellous Corrie... this cutaway works perfectly

10-14-2005, 12:17 PM

Actually I am honoured that your work is on my desktop dude:). I can say to my friends that I know someone who can model beautifull cars:)

yess thats excellent mate! .. just let the race begin !
cheers! and wating for more cool updates!

10-17-2005, 09:14 AM
The car is fantastic!

But, are you still doing two cars racing of a bridge.:scream:
if you are then maybe the level og detail is a bit high,
I'm guessing the body of the car will not be transparent in the scene.:wise:
will the other car be the same style??

10-17-2005, 10:32 AM
Héhé... you like beautiful mechanics ? hahaha

ihhhh.. hit the brakes and tell Lemog... yup... and speed :bounce:and beautiful cars... so I got it all here...

10-18-2005, 09:47 AM
I've waited all the time to see your great detailed work put together. Now I see that it was worth waiting...really amazing car:) . Great model!

10-19-2005, 07:14 AM
Thanks all of you for your kind words and appreciation of my work cause it makes me feel I'm doing something right for a change.I've had trouble with my internet connection for a few days which was extremely frustrating.I'm looking at ways now to fitt the car in the scene so it can look right but not getting what I like yet.

Thanks again.

10-19-2005, 09:25 AM
looking very nice man, i really like your car shader and all the mod detail

good luck for the work in progress:)

10-19-2005, 12:59 PM (

O.K. this is just an idea for now to see how I can lay-out my scene. The front one wins the race and carries on ,on the bridge(which only allow the winner to cross)urban legend or something. The second car will plummet to the valley below. The third car was stopped by a police chopper that shot it with a e.m.p. device making it stop.
Emagine there is a chopper for now.
I have to make the third car pay some how because only the winner gets away unscaved.Maybe I should have the bridge disipearining from the start aswell.
Any ideas welcom.

10-19-2005, 01:03 PM
O yes,I'm making other cars soon for the other two.I'm still looking for the perfect camera angle and set-up so I can get the most of the detail of the front car with out not showing the rest of the objects in the scene.

10-19-2005, 01:42 PM (

This is another layout.

10-19-2005, 01:48 PM
I love the concept for now, but the angle of camera is not super with my taste.

I wait the next ;)

10-19-2005, 02:13 PM (

Here is another.I like this one alot or something close to this.

10-19-2005, 06:10 PM
Hi Corrie, could u please give us more camera angles? Still don't like any of them a 100%. As for the last one (1129731234_medium.jpg), IMHO, the car on right maybe needs to be facing down a bit as well, otherwise it seems to be floating in, straight towards me. I preferred the other 3 angles over this one. I'm sure u'll find a much better one in no time. Great work, I'm still mesmerized by the car models

10-24-2005, 06:31 AM
Thanks again for the support guys.I,ll have a look at some other angles to.Been away working for a few days so today i want to do some more modelling.

See ya later.

10-25-2005, 01:48 PM (

O.K. I haven't posted any progress for a few days cause I have been a little busy. But here is the second car so far.I'm going to do one more soon since there is still bit of time left.Tell me what you think of this one.Once I have all 3 cars I will deside which to put were, front, side ,back ext.I still need to find the right camera angle.

10-25-2005, 01:55 PM
More square design than the first one... but interesting too... good work Corrie

10-25-2005, 02:15 PM
wow  you did a lot of stuff until my last visit, cool to view all your steps on the car model session ! Very good work

10-25-2005, 02:23 PM
Great job dude:thumbsup: no crits:)

10-25-2005, 02:24 PM
Yes it is alot more squarish ,was thinking of putting it at the back on the bridge.

10-25-2005, 02:32 PM
Mmmmm hmmm! Nice/interesting model you ve got there, Dirty it up a bit please?

10-25-2005, 04:06 PM
amazing modeling man and very cool textures and rendering:)

10-26-2005, 12:20 AM
Amazing material work, gotta love those shaders!
keep up!

10-26-2005, 06:17 AM
I see you began to work on your layout, some interesting points of view. Hard to decide between them, but I think I wouldn't prefer the last one - looks to flat:curious: ?!
By the way - very nice design on the second car, but this was no surprise after seeing your work on the first one...

10-26-2005, 06:39 AM
Lemog ,jddog ,madshooter ,melkao ,varma -Thanks again for support and interest.Having you guys commenting on my work makes the challenge all woth it.

sergioKomic-I still have to figure out how to do that.

daWinky-I need to try some more angles still ,any sugestions welcome.

10-26-2005, 07:00 AM
sergioKomic-I still have to figure out how to do that.

Well the easy way would be to make dirt(y) maps on photoshop and map them on the polys, if you need any tips , just ask! :deal:

(tho you could learn much mor from Lemog or jd.....)

10-26-2005, 07:07 AM
Beautiful final model Corrie, love it all. If you go on to the mass production, I'll book a model for my garage hehe!

10-26-2005, 08:06 AM
Well the easy way would be to make dirt(y) maps on photoshop and map them on the polys, if you need any tips , just ask! :deal:

Thanks I'll keep that in-mind when I have finished modeling every thing and start looking at all the textures.

10-26-2005, 02:26 PM
sweety! :) really, cool motor...

10-27-2005, 08:28 AM (

Here is another camera angle.

10-27-2005, 08:46 AM (

Here is another one,I have added another car also.I like this one more ,there still has to be a chopper in the sky aswell.

What do you guys think. This one or what.

10-27-2005, 08:53 AM
Its becoming much more interesting corrie, Id make the leading car come closer to the camera... (exhageration is my middle name)

10-27-2005, 08:59 AM
Last comp is really interesting... as Sergio... the leading car more closer... and certainly little turn, just both of degrees...

 good way...

10-27-2005, 10:57 AM (

Here is another angle which I like and I think could work.

10-27-2005, 10:56 PM
Interesting concpet and i love your car design, great modeling too, keep it coming

10-28-2005, 03:49 AM
Final choice is yours mate... but in this last picture... the gate appeat too much front of us... if you want to keep like that, I think that will be better to turne "little" the cam... that will be less disturbing I thing... here, at first view, the scene appear cut at the middle... this mood increasing with the pillar... just my thought Corrie... :)

10-31-2005, 09:02 AM
Wow:applause: :applause: The scene is shaping up very nicely dude:thumbsup: Yeah i agree with lemog just turn the camera a bit and give a nice perspective view aslo don't forget to give the motionblurrrr...
Keep going dude waiting for your next step:bounce:

10-31-2005, 05:56 PM

great progress.. I think you can still play with the camera angle alot more.. make the cars seems as though they're coming at the viewer, or maybe flying over our heads..

11-02-2005, 07:16 AM (

Here is an update.I have modelled a new bridge with a bit more details and slapped some textures on it.Changed the camera angle which i think I'll stick with.

Let me know what you think.

11-02-2005, 07:50 AM
Yeah good angle on that one. I just think the two cars behind the front one are positioned too much the same way relatively to the front one. Some variation would be nicer I guess. But coming along nicely man!

11-02-2005, 08:25 AM
Camera angle looks cool now:thumbsup: I agree with thierry2005 about the position of two cars, maybe you can show one of the cars getting off track little towards the camera with heavy motionblurr just a suggestion, keep going dude you are almost there:bounce:

11-02-2005, 09:04 AM
I'm sure that angle could work.
And I bet there's a hundred other angles that could work too :D

At any rate, as long as you get some motion and dynamics into it eventually, it'll look great.

11-02-2005, 12:37 PM
Agree with similar cars positions... more random and different... about camera framing... no crit... you can run like that for me :applause:

11-02-2005, 01:48 PM
I really like the last comp with the first car coming near the camera:thumbsup: - I agree with the others about a little more difference between the car positions... This comes together very good:applause: !!

11-02-2005, 01:59 PM
thierry2005,madshooter,JamesMK,Lemog and daWinky.

Thanks for following my thread.I have changed the other car positions and is trying to render the scene with the two finnished cars in.Bit heavy for the machine.

11-03-2005, 02:52 PM (

Here I have started to work a little bit on the inviroment-still early stage.
I'm going to add rocks and shrubs ext.
For the background i was thinking to have the bridge come out of a tunnel and have a sort of a cliff on the right or some thing.

Any crits welcome.
And thanks all for the support.

11-03-2005, 03:36 PM
Hi corrie, I d personally have the water cover the bridge's end. (altho you did a good job with the concrete). Its developing well, but you need tohurry up eh?

11-04-2005, 06:01 AM
Nice modeling. I think you should only have about 3 cars in the scene, 4 seems a bit busy. also, I would try going for an angle that evenly spaces them out in the scene. Maybe sort of low view on the other side with the winning car coming into it (but not centered to the screen), and the falling losing car plummeting to his doom somewhere towards the side and the car that stopped off in the background. I'm not thinking much so that was probably a bad idea, but maybe it gave you an idea:p . Good luck finding the right view.

11-04-2005, 07:06 AM
Hi Corrie,
some good ideas for the environment, I'm curious to see more!:bounce:

11-08-2005, 09:43 AM
personally have the water cover the bridge's end.

yep I'm agree with segio comment, and with some fine reflection on water (so you will cars too) good job

11-08-2005, 10:15 AM
Just some thoughts for you mate...

If we think that your race is futuristic... you don't need to have a natural background, not ?
And why your track is cutting like that, not to oblige these guys to plunge under the water... why that can't be something normal in the race, and we can find in lower part an another track, which can permit to the cars to continue the race after jump...
...and why to doesn't have many stairs of many shapes of tracks... as these certains toys of slot racing, with many stairs... that can increase the spectacular futuristic way of your composition...
...and for the far background, that can be earth ground, water or space... something in the same way than you cars design...

just my 2cents Corrie...

In any case... always good work and interesting thread. Keep it up buddy :wip:

11-08-2005, 10:16 AM (

Here is a little update.
I'll do one next with the end of the bridge in water and see what it looks like.

11-08-2005, 10:25 AM
Hi Corrie,

nice job with the textures - perhaps the water texture needs some break-up, it's a little too regular. For me it is a little strange that the bridge is on solid ground, there can be many reasons for this, but on first sight you await the bridge is a by-pass over the water...:)

Looking forward to see a render with your amazing cars...:bounce:

11-08-2005, 02:22 PM (

Here is the front of bridge in the water.

11-08-2005, 03:42 PM
Ok, forget my previous crit:) ! This looks much more convincing to me...Good work, Corrie!

11-08-2005, 03:50 PM
Ahhhhh. now were getting somewhere!

Nice water, the bridge now has meaning Bravo!

1.I agree with lemog ,maybe show us the edge of the next bridge that they jump to.....

2. create a ramp, where the cars jump from (not a flat surface but a rising one)

11-08-2005, 03:54 PM
Thanks for all the crits every one ,muchly appreciated.

The second bridge is actualy a ghostly bridge, twillight zone type thing. The front car actualy keeps one ridding on to this bridge where the looser cars plummet to the bottom.

Well that is the idea any way.

11-08-2005, 03:56 PM
ala Indiana jones "leap of faith" ?

Good idea!

11-08-2005, 04:01 PM
:applause: yeah, great up-date... ! Waiting for some reflection in water... :wip:

11-08-2005, 04:40 PM
nice updates. i like a lot the water and the plants:thumbsup:

11-09-2005, 08:17 AM (

This is just a quick test composite of tsome of the elemants to see what it looks like together and to see where problem areas are.Still lots to do.

11-09-2005, 10:13 AM
Excellent design of machines! Machines is the most interesting in your work.
The foreshortening not so is pleasant to me. I liked a variant more when machines flied on the spectator!

11-09-2005, 02:32 PM (

I like this angle more ,actualy the most.
I was thinking to make it more interesting to have the front car to start dissipeering from the front and have a ghost trail behind it.

What do you guys think.

11-10-2005, 08:28 AM
In the previous update I found your ghost bridge kind of confusing :curious: - it's not so obvious where you are going with this...I agree that you should have your amazing cars near the camera:) the current pov seems to be good, perhaps still a little flat...but I'm curious to see your next updates...Keep on the good work, Corrie!

11-10-2005, 01:48 PM
nice textures on the cars and bridge, but i think that the illumination still needs some work:scream:

11-11-2005, 12:36 PM (

OK, same car but I have desided to change my renderer from the scanline which I was using before to MentalRay.
So I have to retexture everything now.
Here this car is retextured and the blue paint is now a metalic paint (complements CGTalk material Library)
I'm so much more happy with the result even with all the settings tuned down a bit.

All the old shaders were SimbiotMax shaders and I have not been able to get them to work in MentalRay.

11-11-2005, 05:25 PM
right renderer change.... looks much better:thumbsup:

11-11-2005, 05:37 PM
strange, haha
I just got a sudden urge to go out and find a sportscar, nicked it, drive as fast as it can go... :wip:
you fault... SONIC-X... this car looks exellent now... :bounce:

11-11-2005, 06:39 PM
looks MUCH better now, keep it up

11-11-2005, 07:08 PM
Awesome car, lots of details on this one and your last render looks better.
I agree that the last cam angle has more action and motion.

11-14-2005, 08:34 AM
Thanks you guys for the support and encouragement.

I think MentalRay is going to work much better for me here.

11-14-2005, 08:42 AM
Stunning work man, beautiful rendering and texture on an incredible model:thumbsup: . Mental ray is giving good results! I'll try to find my way in it one day, but it seems so vast from the size of the manual...

11-14-2005, 08:56 AM
New render way is very good... thanks mental  that's increase your models detailing...

About environment... just acknowledge something (and I really don't like to say that kind of thing... I'm so sorry...) I don't like it... not the realization... but I don't think it was very adapted to your race... your future race...

For me, when I watch this track... that make me think to a decay between a simple old time and your future cars...

To put your incredibles cars in a real futur environment can certainly increase the spectacular... I think that the risk of falling can't be the only way for spectacular...

I'm persuaded that the environment must take an important part of the spectacular way...

Maybe do you remember a previous post of mine, when I suggest you a new story, a another background, more space, more futur, more flying, more race... I think that this kind universe can works more with your futuristic cars...

I repeat it... your cars are fantastics... you must have for them a great environment... and I don't think that something too much nature as we have in our country must be the good solution...

It's just my own feeling... maybe it's a error of me... many days I think to your creation... I just post today... cause I can't close my mouth more... I've always the same advice.

I hope this post will be not a too much big deception for you... I just try to help you a little bit, and also, to be frank with you my friend

Anyway, final choice is yours Corrie... and I will continue to respect your work... :wavey:

11-14-2005, 09:37 AM
Thanks for the crit Lemog.I apreciate honesty very much .I'm not much of a nature person and enjoy the fantasy word I live in so much more.Just give me science fiction and gadgets and I'm happy. So I have been thingking also this week end about the enviroment. The cars also do not fit nicely in the current enviroment.

So I also thinking some space type place with lots of nice colors.

11-14-2005, 09:43 AM
I'm happy you take my comments like that... I'm sure that's will be better that you must follow your universe in this case... that certainly give us something "really" spectacular... plunge into your imagination... and run mate

11-14-2005, 07:15 PM
Somehow I missed your last update...and that's a pitty! Great rendering, the change to mental ray was a very good decision:thumbsup: . The car looked so good before that I found nothing to crit, but this is a great improvement!:applause:

11-14-2005, 10:17 PM
^^^ I agree!! this MR metal shader is just soooooooo much better. Good move - cheers

11-15-2005, 01:38 PM (

Righto! Since I'm changing to a more futuristic theme I have started to model a sky city.It is still far from finnished but you can see I'm working on this when I get a chance.I was thinking of having a few of these cities in the background and maybe have only the two cars racing in the forground.Behind all this would be a planet offcourse.

This should fit better with the cars.I hope.!

11-15-2005, 05:33 PM
Skycity looks great dude:thumbsup: No crits for now, waiting for more updates waitng to see it in the racing background. Keep up the good work dude:thumbsup:

11-15-2005, 05:40 PM
 hoho... and the city too... excellent... :wip:

11-16-2005, 05:27 AM
I think it's a good choice and a very good orientation for your project... now, it's you... it's your universe... and it's visible... your city comes to be great with this interesting design... come on Corrie... you're on the good way... follow it

11-16-2005, 10:54 AM (

Here the City in the sky is finnished modelled.

I must say it was a lot of fun modelling it.

Next is to pull it into Max.

11-16-2005, 11:03 AM
It's really splendid Corrie... I don't know why you want to do the bridge before... your city is incredible... 1000000% better man

11-16-2005, 11:49 AM (

Into Max it goes and firdt test render.

11-16-2005, 12:08 PM
hiya SONIC-X..thats an incredible looking city there mate! very futuristic and cool!

11-16-2005, 12:15 PM
You decided too amazing my eyes at each update Corrie... just continue like that, you impressed me

11-16-2005, 01:00 PM
Thanks a mil you guys for the support and kind words.I'll try my best to impress you guys.

11-16-2005, 01:01 PM
Thanks a mil you guys for the support and kind words.I'll try my best to impress you guys.

...and that works

Well... stop spamming now... working

11-16-2005, 01:16 PM
a very cool design of the city indeed:thumbsup:

11-16-2005, 02:22 PM
cool have really worked on that!:buttrock:

11-16-2005, 02:44 PM (

Here I played with some texture quickly.I'll have to do some proper uv maping or something cause the texture looks funny on some places up close in high resolution.

11-16-2005, 02:51 PM
Depend of the distance with the camera... and the light... with some parts with different colors or variation, that can be sufficient, maybe...

11-19-2005, 12:28 PM
Hi corrie,
I like your wheel...!:)
Nice modeling. That makes for me has a map of Quake 3. I like very much this universe. But how you are going to insert your car into your map?
(Sorry I speak french!)
Good luck!

11-19-2005, 02:29 PM

 Awesome Dude, Wow looks great:thumbsup: Texturing looks real cool. Keep going I'm waiting eagerly to see the final image:bounce:

11-19-2005, 06:10 PM
Hi Corrie,

I just see your change in environment now and I'm a little speechless:eek: ...what a difference to the last version, incredible good ,man:applause: ...Now you have an environment that can coexist with your wonderful modeled cars...I can see that this fits your imagination and interests much better. I'm looking forward to some more spectacular updates now...:bounce:

11-20-2005, 01:11 AM
Last update looks great! I like this structure, fantastic idea. Keep it up! :)

11-20-2005, 07:39 AM
i like Your idea very much Sonic ! keep up the good work ! :)
