09 September 2005, 11:38 AM
I'm on it! :D

09 September 2005, 02:10 PM (

Here's my first concept sketch, whee! It's based on the old stories of the world being flat, but I could make the ship more futuristic. I could also change the angle so you see someone looking down from the ship past the edge of the world into the fiery pit. This is just the first concept sketch though, there'll be many more!!

09 September 2005, 02:24 PM
Hah, u too, welcome to Club Worm!

very nice concept, milady!

09 September 2005, 02:49 PM
Tis a DRAGON, not a worm!
Maybe I should take a drawing lesson....or change the name to 'dragoon'!

There you go- it's a dragoon! Happy? I'm working on another concept as I type...type.. type away.

09 September 2005, 02:49 PM

Interesting start, Theresa... and certainly spectacular... unless you're on the ship of course. Then it'd just be a bad day at the office.

09 September 2005, 02:53 PM

09 September 2005, 02:53 PM
A boat at the edge of the waterfall =o
That's what I was making to.

And I thougt I was original

link to my 3 consepts

09 September 2005, 02:54 PM
U got a cool concept there too, comlock, nice angle

09 September 2005, 03:05 PM (

Here's a new concept: Climbers find out that Mount Everest is actually the largest volcano in the world which threatens to destroy most of Asia and parts of Europe. This concept can be changed around too...

09 September 2005, 03:19 PM
Hi ! Theresa! glad to see you again! you have cool concept ! I like the dragon one!

09 September 2005, 03:21 PM
Hey, nice concepts so far. I like the last one.

I will visit Everest Base Camp in a few weeks from now. So letís hope your concept doesnít come true.:D

09 September 2005, 03:25 PM
Nice to see you doing the challenge. I just found out about it last night. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!!! :)

09 September 2005, 03:26 PM
For the record, I could tell that it was a dragon and not a worm (I think Squibbit needs to brush up on his "How a Dragon is Different Than a Worm" manual :D ).
Also, I think Dragoon was a type of Knight, but maybe that comes from playing too many Final Fantasy games.

I think the Sailing Ship concept is pretty strong - I wonder how spectacular it would be if it was from the sailors perspective, though.

Best of luck, paperclip.

09 September 2005, 03:30 PM
Hey Theresa, great concepts. I especially like the first concept.
Keep 'm comming young lady, you've made a great start.

09 September 2005, 03:31 PM
Do you think that it's too common of a concept, the boat-on-the-edge idea? I mean, someone else has already come up with it!

More sketches coming........

09 September 2005, 07:40 PM (

This one is another version of the first one, cut closely and looking down into the fiery pit. I'm going to come up with new, different concepts before too long. Excuse the sketchiness of this one, I promise the next few will be better!

09 September 2005, 09:44 PM
This view is no doubt very spectacular. It's a pitty that the idea of the edge of the world is lost. It could well be a waterfall. The idea of standing at the edge of the world is what I liked about the first sketch. Maybe do the same view, slightly higher angle and wider shot. This will establish the grand feeling of the edge of the world. :wip::wip:

09 September 2005, 10:29 PM
great concepts! gonna follow this one.

09 September 2005, 11:38 PM
Queenie, here's the colored version:

chromatically aesthetic tumbleweed!
Back to the recesses of my mind I go..dum dee dum...fee fi fo fum...

09 September 2005, 11:41 PM
:D ... tumbleweed is our friend, our only companion in quiet times...

09 September 2005, 11:45 PM
That's profound, man.

09 September 2005, 08:50 PM
Love your concepts so far, especially the sailors at the edge of the world (WHAT?!! The world ISN'T flat?!!)

Keep going, girl... can't wait to see more!

09 September 2005, 09:47 PM
Hi Theresa!
I like the everest sketch, it looked really good, but IMO this idea about world's edge is more spectacular.... maybe you could try the opposite, looking slightly up instead of looking down, you could show a part of the ship coming out of the edge and some terrified sailors looking down...the dragon/worm/dragoon/cockroach going up to catch them.... well, just an idea, good luck anyway!!!

09 September 2005, 12:32 AM
Hey, Elmasfaeo! I didn't recognize you at first with the new avatar, I love it though, like a cooler version of the old one. Well played.

I really like your idea for the perspective, I'm still trying to think up a few different concepts before running with one. I've also recieved some projects from college so I need to work on that as well. Ah, the life of a student.... :D

09 September 2005, 07:19 AM
Theresa, best off luck on the challenge. I'll try too follow your progress !!

09 September 2005, 07:30 AM
Some spectacular things here theressa!

Good luck clip. :bounce:

09 September 2005, 07:46 AM
Note 1 ... Found ya :scream: .

Note 2 ... nice concepts

Note 3 ... errr....have fun :bounce: .

Your friendly bubble.

09 September 2005, 01:31 AM
Hey Dimi, Sergio & Richard, thanks for dropping by! I'll have a couple more concepts up tomorrow, I've been busy....

I'm moving on monday, but I'm free for the rest of that week. (6)

09 September 2005, 11:13 AM
Hi there Theresa, nice to see you!

Your first concept is awesome, love that idea! please don't give it up because someone else allready is doing a ship on edge of waterfall thingie, although the main subject (ship about to fall) is very similar, your concept is totally different and has great potential IMO.

Keep it up and good luck!

09 September 2005, 06:02 PM (

Here's my second to last concept sketch- the next one will be coming before too long. In this sketch, dinos move in with humans and all the different races of people and animals all learn to live together peacefully. There is no more dissent or war. I would change this concept to include far more animals and some sort of spectacular signing of an agreement amongst all the living beings on earth could be going on. It may turn out to look completlely different, but I originally thought of it as being rather peaceful. Dinos would probably leave the picture altogether!

Shadow Seraph
09 September 2005, 06:28 PM
i like the latest update... it seems to have a very cute feel to it so far. i'm curious to see what you will do with the environment, that i think will really bring it all together. wondeful work.

09 September 2005, 06:50 PM
Hmmm, I think the boat concept is more spectacular... but this one has potential too I think.
Maybe have this big dino play with kids, acting as a giant slide or something...

09 September 2005, 06:55 PM

hammurheed maggoooot

09 September 2005, 07:25 PM

Holy crap, I've been trying to post a reply thru this dagjammit*&%$##!!! thingymabob for a year!!!

09 September 2005, 08:00 PM
Hmmm, I think the boat concept is more spectacular... but this one has potential too I think.

Maybe a dino going over a waterfall?...

Nice work so far.

09 September 2005, 08:58 PM
hi paperclip :)

I really like the one with the dino ... the composition has a really good flow to it and its just the cutest dino ive ever seen :D

*votes for dinos*

09 September 2005, 09:00 PM

edit: Hell na I just read your post what you posted about my fro, that's some funny shyT!:D

Waahha...where..I don't remember writing that! Was it in this thread??

09 September 2005, 10:13 PM
Yeah I think is on the second page or so!

09 September 2005, 10:51 PM
So much for my memory! I'll see if I can't slip in a fro somewhere...:D

Maybe the ship can be carrying a shipment of cute dinosaurs when it suddenly goes over the end of the world? The captain of the ship could have a FRO!

09 September 2005, 04:45 AM
the thoumble wheats are pretty awsome , what you are going to do with them,
hard to see what's going on the sketch, I would like to see some more
good luck :)

09 September 2005, 08:35 AM
really liked the first concept:thumbsup:
good luck Theresa!!!

09 September 2005, 09:38 AM
The captain of the ship could have a FRO!Could a captain have anything else? :O

No, he cant have anything else. Go with the fro... yo... :S

09 September 2005, 03:18 PM
Hey... no update since Sunday? C'mon! We hungry art critters need food!:D

09 September 2005, 03:59 PM
love your sketch style mate! keep it coming!

09 September 2005, 04:02 PM
Your last concept could become awesome! Love your avatar, its hilarious!

09 September 2005, 04:27 PM
Slacking again mrs T?

09 September 2005, 04:32 PM
very nice work so the boat concept a lot.just my opinion.another ideas are cool too.

09 September 2005, 03:34 PM
hi therry,

I like the second concept very much. Gives you many room to paint weird environments with a lot of depth and interesting species. I allways love to see little human characters over big bridges made by nature. (like in the new king kong trailer for example). Gives the scene a touch of adventure.
Maybe I would decide to switch to widescreen composition. I might fit better with this topic.

How ever you decide Iīm looking forward to watch the progress.

09 September 2005, 04:24 PM
interesting idea.... keep it up man!

09 September 2005, 06:14 PM (

Well, having had such nice feedback on the first concept, I decided to do another version of the first concept, hence the 'funship' and the slug monster. This version would be more fun to play around with, I could put lots of little stalls onto the ship and there could be 'mutant' sailors...the possibilities are endless!

09 September 2005, 06:45 PM
nice update.more funny.I like it.cheers.

09 September 2005, 06:50 PM
the look on that monster's face is phenomenal, don't touch it

09 September 2005, 06:56 PM
Yeap, its even closer to your personality.

(you know , mutated happy sailing all that):bounce:

09 September 2005, 07:10 PM
How about a giant salt shaker strapped to the side, 'just in case of oogie boogie monsters'?

09 September 2005, 07:19 PM
It could work....:bounce:

09 September 2005, 07:32 PM (

Time to send the mutants to the end of the world to vanquish the oogie boogie slug monster!

09 September 2005, 07:45 PM
Wait! they know its flat?

so how do they know about the monster???:bounce:

09 September 2005, 08:27 PM

Good point.

Back to the drawing board! :arteest:

09 September 2005, 09:37 PM
Cute :P

They know there is a monster the same way they knew there were monsters in the mountains...

09 September 2005, 10:23 PM
I think I'm gonna change the monster, I want him to look a little less slug like and a little more intelligent & sly....

09 September 2005, 10:41 PM
Just wondering... if this is the edge of the world... how big is this monster... and does it stand on any ground... if there's any at the edge of the world :)
I think the challenge will be to make it not look like the edge of a waterfall.

09 September 2005, 11:07 PM
Maybe I will have it looking like the side of a disc and the monster clinging to the underside of the disc, like some sort of bat like creature, with the water pouring down around its head??

09 September 2005, 11:17 PM
Bwahahha! That slug is great! But yes, he may need to be slightly more apocalyptic.

09 September 2005, 12:04 AM (

Does it look less like a waterfall now? I made the creature a little more creepy and I made him cling to the edge of the world....I'm going to play around with this some more, I'm not quite happy with it yet.

09 September 2005, 06:22 AM
told ye to leave the monster alone now it looks just sad, tsk tsk ..

09 September 2005, 09:11 AM
It is merely on another layer! :D I love working digitally....

I think I wanna try another couple of concepts first before moving along too much with this one though. How about when bunnies take over the world....and infest it with sweet stuff so that all the demons in the world are driven out?

Too impossible?

09 September 2005, 09:38 AM
Too impossible?

easy

09 September 2005, 09:46 AM
Might be kinda cool eh, the bunnies could have really over the top cute stuff like bags of sugar and mini easter eggs avalanching down on the dark demoney creatures?

09 September 2005, 09:40 PM
Might be kinda cool eh, the bunnies could have really over the top cute stuff like bags of sugar and mini easter eggs avalanching down on the dark demoney creatures?

That is definetely in the realms of reality:thumbsup: . Bunnies are my power animal, the most ferocious animal of them all (as Monty Python has pointed out). Would love to see how that would turn out. And with the current concept....the salt shakers don't work anymore if the monster isn't a slug, get that slug back in there. Keep the updates coming:bounce: .

09 September 2005, 07:40 AM
How 'bout a giant killer bunny at the edge of the world!! :bounce:

09 September 2005, 05:49 PM
I have so many ideas and so little talent! :cries:

Don't worry though...something will come to fruition! Until then, here is something fun:
It's a GIF- keep watching!

09 September 2005, 06:11 PM
Hey there, Theresa Wrinkles, what's the difference between #5 and #6, I like that one best so far though :) funny monster, more spectacular :) mutant sailors also sounds very Kewl with a a capital K :) waiting for more :p

09 September 2005, 08:35 PM
#6 has a salt shaker strapped to the side to attack the slug monster with. :D

09 September 2005, 12:14 AM (

Bunnies tossing creatures off the end of the world to feed them to the slug beasts! There would be a lot more detail there than there is now, I'd slowly build in lots of candy and cute mountains in the background, the slugs will be cool and the flames will be fiery and the demons will be black with glowing red eyes!
What do you say?

09 September 2005, 02:48 PM
Just... wow... (how we'd on the subject of bunnies?) :bounce:

09 September 2005, 03:00 PM
haha!! cool :D Spectacular indeed :p

09 September 2005, 01:23 AM
ROFL, P'clip, you certainly win the 'Most Entertaining' award! :D :scream:

Cheers! :)

09 September 2005, 01:51 AM
Tee hee hee! This just keeps getting wackier and wackier!:D

09 September 2005, 02:20 AM
what can i say: nasty wabbits, very evil. poor falling beings. may squib fly by and save a few of em, or i will come and do it myself. scary slugs that are fireresistant. might be a new gen of them or maybe even spacesnail has to do with em? but then, could they be bad? isnt good or bad at the end just a matter of where you're looking from? oh dear, hahaha, and all because i just found u and wanted to wish you good luck and loadsa fun. and i wanted to go sleep, do u know what kinda pictures i gotta fight now? hahaha, slugdemons and armageddonwabbits. oh dear! ;) keep on goin Theresa, and have loadsa fun!

09 September 2005, 10:06 AM
Wow, quite a few replies! I'm liking this concept, only problem is that it looks too flat, I'm going to work around this using the magic of perspective, colors and lots of prayers... I think I've found my concept, yee ha!

09 September 2005, 10:59 AM
Really cute design for original idea, the color will show the "spectacular" of the picture

09 September 2005, 06:43 PM
Gah! I feel behind already!

My scanner isn't working, so until it is, I can't post my rough sketches on paper. I'm still trying to nail down a good composition.

Thanks Jabberwoc, I appreciate your encouragement, it sure helps!

09 September 2005, 12:46 AM
Gah! I feel behind already!

Believe me, you're not the only one!:D
Just keep rolling on. December is further away (and closer!) than you think!

09 September 2005, 06:40 AM
Theresa, can't you just take a pic with your digital camera?

You're not behind, just "keep oh-oh-on mo-ving..."

09 September 2005, 08:53 PM
hi there theresa :) interesting ideas and sketches! but my vote goes to the second one, where those 2 climbers r and a lava. They should be a bit more petrified, but other than that I think it has lots of potential. Nice contrasts between warm and cold colors, peaceful environment and chaotic lava, etc. Good luck with the challenge :)

09 September 2005, 06:42 AM
we're waiting for update's... where's my whip... :)
Is your scanner still not working? :(

09 September 2005, 07:27 AM
Hey there, cool concepts! Good luck

09 September 2005, 06:50 PM
:wip: we :wip: wanna :wip: see :wip: some :wip: more :wip:

10 October 2005, 11:38 PM
wacky bunnies get my stamp of approval! :)

10 October 2005, 06:24 PM (

Well... after quite a while of nothing, here's something! Building somewhat on the bunny idea. I wanted it to look sort of ethereal and sickly sweet, to contrast with the freaky bunnies. Can you tell what's going on at all?

10 October 2005, 06:30 PM
dat bunny almost looks too scary

10 October 2005, 06:33 PM (

changed the slugs so it balances a bit more. I still don't really like them. When I do the final work, this is going to look rather different. YOu know how it is!!

10 October 2005, 08:37 PM
That bunny looks psychoooo! Very disturbing .

10 October 2005, 08:43 PM
Cool bunnies and style!
You need to improve the water effect, the slugs don't seem to be under water.
Perhaps make the picture higher and wider (to the right) so the rabbit isn't in the
center of the picture. The picture feels little claustrophobic.

Good Luck!

10 October 2005, 12:43 PM
Hi paperclip. They are so funny keep it up. Remember me all the time to Monsters Inc. COOL! :bounce:
I'm looking forward for your next updates.

xbo :scream:

10 October 2005, 02:27 PM
hehe, that's funny, I like it! :)

10 October 2005, 10:35 AM
what happened to the edge of the world? (I liked that!):scream:

10 October 2005, 12:17 PM
Ahem. I liked the volcano the best.

11 November 2005, 08:52 AM
haha, now this is a rather syko delik solution, almost hurtin the overtired eyes, dunno whats hurtin more, my stomach cuz of laughing or my brain cuz of a pinkshock. lol, nice toonworld anyways, and funny bunny piece, what can i say?!? :scream: nuts, simply nuts :p keep it up Theresa!

11 November 2005, 06:31 PM
bahaha that's awesome. the humor... the laughter... 3 x :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Hey everyone!

Thanks for the great comments, you have no idea how much they boost my ego. :D . I came around to let you know that I just won't have time to finish this, as much as I want to. I don't have my wacom with me during the week and I'm always busy on the weekends. I'm sad about it too.......but I will certainly enter the next one.

Sorry to let you down, but I'll be back for more.
