Thanks gang, I'm looking forward to this one. However I won't be able to start for at least a week, maybe more. I'm bummed, just too many deadlines.

09 September 2005, 10:05 AM
Hi Cliff,

09 September 2005, 11:19 AM
Hi Cliff, good to see you here again, can't wait to see what you come up with this time. Best of luck!

09 September 2005, 10:55 PM (

Well, since i won't be able to get serious on this challenge for another couple of weeks, I thought I would doodle. My image will be centered around a car chase with some Mini Coopers. Since I just bought one, I thought I would have fun with it. Anyway, this is a rough, rough as usually.

09 September 2005, 11:24 PM (

Rough block-in

09 September 2005, 11:28 PM (

Still rough, I'll add some people in the foreground later. I will concentrate on the evironment first, then move to the MINI Coopers and people. I'm still just playing with this one.

09 September 2005, 12:46 AM
nice concept... keep it up!

09 September 2005, 06:39 AM (

Well, I did say that I was going to work on the environment first, buy I changed my mind.

09 September 2005, 07:12 AM
whoa~thats cool,cooper chase,how could i have not think of that~reminds me of italian job~hehe:scream:

09 September 2005, 07:19 AM
love that brushing, I think you could push this concept a little, good luck

09 September 2005, 10:04 AM
Kick ass stuff Sideache! I love those angles on those Minicoopers And I love the fact that it is a car chase scene, reminds of the Transporter!

09 September 2005, 04:55 AM (

Still playin with this idea when I have time.

09 September 2005, 12:05 PM
hi there! :) Lovely concept, a car chase. I would move closer the first vehicle, so that the dramatic effect would be more spectacular, a scale would read better and u will give to viewer a main point of interest. Like now, every single element on the pic has equal role, what could result to be boring. exaggerate a bit :) and the last car looks a bit strange now coz its not clear where is it come from... is it jumping out of the smoke or is smoke behind him? Is it coming out of the tunnel or is jumping down of the bridge? I hope u'll understand what I've just writen, coz of my bad english :) Great idea though!

Whats up Cliff, I knew I would find you around here. I like the concept a lot. I concur with ninjaassn, bring the first car closer and maybe even crop parts of it out of the frame. Also I get the feeling of maybe more of a contempoary helicopter in the scene instead. Looking great.

09 September 2005, 05:37 PM (

I agree, the foregound car needed to be moved closer - thanks

09 September 2005, 09:38 PM (

A small update, I haven't yet given much time to this competition. i'm trying to meets some deadlines, then i'll give 'er a go.

09 September 2005, 10:24 PM
Sorry bout that SideAche, I ment to post here but didn't. Nice stuff that you have going on here, maybe you can give the compo some air at the top, Everything seems tight, if you are going for that feeling!

09 September 2005, 04:23 PM (

I wanted to define the grill work and lights because that's fun stuff. I'll dirty up the front car later. I'll be refining the environment now.

09 September 2005, 06:49 PM
Cool, can't wait to see the next update!!

09 September 2005, 07:35 PM
This reminds me movie 'Italian job' (or how it was in eng. language version). Very spectacular ;)

Good luck

09 September 2005, 03:49 AM
you rock cliff, I love the composition, moreso on the earlier sketch than the latest update.

09 September 2005, 04:40 PM (

I'm starting to work with the background. Crowd scene on the over pass and a few figures running out of the way in the foreground will be added to the image. I'll dirty things up a bit once I feel satified with the direction. Still searching around with this one.

09 September 2005, 05:30 PM
Looking good Cliff! The detail on the front Mini is looking awesome!

09 September 2005, 07:21 AM (

A bit more detail, I'll add some of the effects later, blurred wheels and such.

09 September 2005, 08:40 AM
Hey man, good going so far.

The environment and the flying vehicles look very futuristic but the minis are contemporary, it seems a strange mix. What would be very cool would be to take the mini into the future too - i'm sure you could find some wicked concept sketches from BMW or whoever makes minis these days to inspire you. You're image could be Italian Job 3...

09 September 2005, 02:08 AM
Hey Cliff!
Look'n nice. I wonder who is driveing it? hmmm?

09 September 2005, 03:37 PM (

I got rid of the copters, they just weren't working. I'll have a bit more time to devote to this shortly.

09 September 2005, 03:49 PM
Much better without the copters, cliff... I still like this concept, it could feasibly be a classic car rally in the future, where they race on the floor instead of through the air!! The lights on that front mini look especially impressive, and the wheel spin on it makes it look as if he's just hit ground and has revved up the engine to get going again... great stuff!

09 September 2005, 04:52 PM
Thanks Sam, You confirmed my thoughts to turn it into a classic car rally.

09 September 2005, 07:10 PM
Good work with the car

Im confused about those cars in the distance. It slightly looks like they are jumping, but also they look like they are running over brown surface? Try to make it more clear that they are jumping in the air and reduce the thickness of the cloud so it would be easier to see where they are coming from.

Are you using any reference with those cars?

Keep going man :)

09 September 2005, 08:30 PM
I agree, Falcor. Now that my concept has changed, I will need to address the area in which discribed. The yellow Mini Cooper is my new car, that's the reference. The other Mini's are drawn from my son's diecast models.

09 September 2005, 10:57 PM (

Close-Up on the main car.

10 October 2005, 04:44 AM (

Tweaking the Concept. I'll start to add the crowd next.

10 October 2005, 09:27 PM (

Beginning to add the crowd in the distance.

10 October 2005, 06:53 AM
i wish i owned a mini  this is exactly how Id drive it.

Nice work!

10 October 2005, 04:03 PM
yes yes.. it looks much better now, without helicopters and all that smoke that just has confusing us about the depth of the image. And nice touch with those sticks marking the road. keep going man! great work :)

10 October 2005, 04:53 PM
wowz, nice sense of depth here. Like the Mini Coopers as well, real Midtown Madness style

10 October 2005, 01:05 PM
Hi SideAche. Nice picture and coming much better every update. Maybe you can change now the Yellow color. Looks like a dead yellow. for me

When i see your idea i think in Italian Job. (Nice Film).\
I'm looking forward to see updates.

xbo :scream:

10 October 2005, 05:38 AM (

It's been a while since an update. Sorry gang, I've been incredibly busy so I haven't been able to participate much. Maybe soon!

10 October 2005, 05:40 AM
Nice, the element of people adds a little more to the image, good stuff!

10 October 2005, 09:03 PM (

Just starting to work on the crowd

10 October 2005, 04:13 PM
hi man! ur progress is blowing me away, its getting so much better and better! the composition, the ambient, everything... only one little thing that I think it bothers at the moment. those cars in the back, which r jumping.. its a bit unclear why r they jumping and that smoke under them is a bit confusing (it looks like that smoke is pushing them up). I think a small jump ramp or something would bring a lot to the pic.. as better reading the whole image, as well as a good element for a final composition I think. Keep up the great work buddy! :)

11 November 2005, 01:24 AM
Nice work I like the background

12 December 2005, 02:36 AM (

Sorry gang, I haven't been able to work on this image for a bit. I got a few free hours today and maybe I can break free for a few tomorrow. I'm not sure if I'll be able to make the deadline. I'm trying to resolve the crowd right now.

12 December 2005, 03:13 AM
classic yet with a taste of futuristic to it~i wana see this finished.u can do it mate:scream:

12 December 2005, 03:55 AM (

Rats! I only had a small amount of time to work. If i'm going to be able to get this thing done. It will have to be Saturday.

12 December 2005, 04:21 AM
pretty nice , cliff

having them cars in the air there in the back is a nice touch

12 December 2005, 09:12 PM (

Trying to get this thing done!

12 December 2005, 03:43 AM (

Vintage car racing is still practiced in the future. Here we have Mini Cooper's rally racing through the streets of the city.
