first idea for the pose for the main focus of my image, the background will be filled with a worn torn landscape with a battle going on in the distance
09 September 2005, 12:40 AM
the second pose, I am leaning more toward this one
09 September 2005, 04:40 AM
still modeling as I type this, just a quick update on the gun model as I make it
09 September 2005, 04:43 AM
nice model so far.. dude whats the story behind your concept im a little interested..
09 September 2005, 04:49 AM
the concept is set in a war torn environment, as the battle rages on behind the little boy he stops to stare at a small flower that has managed to survive the chaos and brutality, tears roll down the child's cheeks and a small hint of a smile cracks to one side of his lips as he ponders upon the sight of this flower.....what's he thinking? Why is such a young child in battle? Is he on the good or bad side? So many questions can and should arise in the minds of the viewers.... which I hope it does.

great concept and great modelling so far! I kinda think I would like it better if it was a more futuristic post apocalyptic type of scene where the lil kid is holding some laser pulse rifle or something. Anyways, looking forward to future updates.
09 September 2005, 10:19 PM
finished the rifle model, may add a scope later, haven't decided yet
09 September 2005, 10:23 PM
actually when completed the image will kind of hold a non distinct timeframe, mixture of weapons and vehicles from the past and present and some futuristic designs, for better visuals and make the image more thought provoking
thanks a bunch, Shane !!!

The concept is nice, so is the modeling. Unfortunately I'm a weapons freak, and I don't think you chose the best weapon for the concept. This is a US M4 design, it is used by operatives of special forces, so it's not too common on the market, especially, with an attached grenade launcher. I think a russian made rifle would be a better choice. There are some parts of the world (Africa), where a lot of teenage or even younger boys are crawling around with those guns. Sad but true.

yeah, i initially thought of an ak but the M4 looks beefier and can really throw in an extra touch of confusion as to the timeframe and location for the concept.
thank you for noticing that detail of it, profg :wise:

You are welcome. If I was too harsh, don't get me wrong. That gun is most impressive (I've recognized it :)) Good luck on the challange.
09 September 2005, 09:39 PM
didn't think it was harsh in any way at all. And thank you again for the comments on the modeling. I would love for more people to critique my work and I can handle straight brutal honesty on my work and appreciate it more, thanks again profg
