Hi Alex!...good luck for you!

Thank you, guto.

My concept is the following:
-A "Vale-tudo" fight. The referee, in a critical moment, is not in a good position. One of the fighters seems to be in a bad position too, but after many punches on his face, he grabs the opponent arm with strenght and hate! The result of the combination of these situations has not a happy end... Take out the children... It's not gonna be beaultifull!

Hi Alex, welcome to the contest, good luck dude. The concept is strong, like Vanderley Silva, hehehe. Are you'll make some sketch or will be start with modeling? What styles you'll to use, cartoon, realistic? I'm impatient to see your entry dude

Hello, guys.

I'll try to do it realistic. I want to learn Z-brush, the zumbi editor, and this is a good oportunity.

This is an reference of an armlock I got in web:

This one below, my friends here at work tried to do the pose for me to take an angle reference. The "Armlocker" is Marcello Carvalho, a jiu-jitsu expert! The giant russian is our internship kid, Rodrigo "Ruiveleza". The other one, trying carry Marcello is my husband, Marcio Bukowski.

I'm gonna post a first layout concept later

Nice image Hope you have enough time to finish. Are you a girl by the way Alex sounds a guy to me.

10-18-2005, 09:22 PM
I Think you could do it cartoony and realistic.

I think you could rotate the camera just a little bit, just to give a drama.

P.S.: I'm not his husband! He was joking. That little cute piggy!

I'm working on the pose. I think the referee was looking scared before. I tried to make him more "inside" the situation. I changed a little the fighters. I'd like to have sritics and sugestions about this poses.

Hum... I think I like the first one more than that...

The desperate mood of the referee was more into the spectacular context of the challenge I a afraid to say.
I am not sure... anyway, keep up!!

I am sooo curious about the character design! Do you sketches or something already?! :bounce:

10-22-2005, 01:32 PM
Well, Alex, this looks very nice.
The models are now less skinny.

The referee was looking scared before indeed, but I think he is too serious now. Maybe he should look at the same time surprised and concerned. This is suposed to be 'spectacular', isn't it? ;)

Other thing I've noticed: (about the red fighter) the arc made by the legs could look more like the arc made by the back, putting more strength on the move, really pushing the arm of the blue one.

Just some sugestions. :)
Very good work.

10-22-2005, 02:59 PM
I think i disagree with them about the referee...
A Referee of a Cage Fight, cannot be scaryed about anything! I think in this new pose, he seems to be in a regular pose, but he cannot see what's going on, because an arm is being broken and he just can see the victim's back.

The fighters can be improved on their position

10-22-2005, 05:24 PM

This is why the referee is not focused in the action:

This is the user view.
Please, I need critics and suggestions!

Oh, man! I was really interested on this one until you posted this last image! I mean, I have no prejudices at all, but first you were husbandS, now this pic...

About the image, it would be nice if the referee was closer to the fighters. It would make a nicer composition and his expression could enhance the "spetacular" mood.

The pose is a bit static too. Sometimes in these kind of fights, there are armlocks in mid air! The red fighter would be pulling the victim way out of balance and breaking his arm, while in a full arc position, with no contact to the ground, sweat flying and blood spreading in a very motion blurred way - although blood with cartoony characters don't match very well, I think. Anyway, that would be really spetacular!

I'm also very curious about the character design!

Keep keeping,

Excellent Concepts Alex ! Look forward to seeing more ...

10-23-2005, 12:17 AM
I agree with ZNP about the mood of the referee and the bending arc of the red figure.
Maybe he expressed the same ideas I have in a better way.

10-23-2005, 12:21 AM
This has the potential to be really cool. Problem is you have 3 characters plus an environment to finish in just over a month. No small feat. I hope you make it, this could be cool.

10-23-2005, 02:35 AM
Great Concept

Good luck!!!

10-23-2005, 03:00 AM
I too think the red fighter should be in a more precarious position. Mabye on one foot getting ready to fall back. And then the ref. could have his hands up and trying to move out of the way. You have also set yourself up for a great expression on the blue fighter's face as he is trying to use his head as leverage.

On the whole I think you have a good concept and compostion. Just need to walk it out.
