Hi everybody,
I couldn't stand it to stay out from this challenge, so... I'm IN!!!
I have something in my mind regarding the 'spectacular' scene... and I'll post a sketch very soon.

Good luck to everybody, and may the challenge begin!!!

09 September 2005, 09:05 PM (

I think that the most spectacular event on the earth is a child birth...
To be more spectacular, I invite you to be witness to the birth of an angel.
I know, you should probably say, this subject is taken… the birth theme… hmmm… I don’t want to copy someone’s idea, the modeling and the concept will be different.
Also there is a possibility to change the theme of my spectacular.
As for now here is the sketch of how I see this event…
Sorry for my sketch (I’m not a good 2d sketcher), so I hope you understand it.
Good luck to everybody!!!

Hey :)

Don't mind at all. Good luck to you! Funny thing, that sketch of yurs was very close to what I had in my first thoughts as well. However I've modified it slightly. It'll be fun to see how we progress with the same idea.

Good luck again.

I like the concept. This could prove to be a fun one to work with. One thing I think you might want to think about is whether a doctor would be delivering an angel or would it be another entity. Also the environment. Would it be a doctors office? Think about the whole light aspect you have there. Maybe an enviroment more suited to allow the light to enter the room and envelope the angel. I like the premise, I'm interested in seeing the results. Keep it up.

09 September 2005, 11:32 PM
Thats pretty good. Maybe Angles aren't born like humans? What if they aren't ever children just born as is. Or they do grow, but they are "created" somehow, spawning from celestial egg's or something.

09 September 2005, 07:10 AM
I think this idea is very intriquing, a birth of an angel. Will he be delivered by human doctor?

09 September 2005, 02:17 PM
::Blomstergutt:: - Thanks.
::Wildekyote, OvidsMuse, Yongkiat:: - Thanks for ideas... hmmm... you put me in 'trouble'... the idea with the environment and the person or thing that will do the delivery is great, right now I'm thinking to put the whole action in another place (not hospital)... and the entity witch assists the birth... will be... another angel.
Because I'm a lousy sketcher, I think it would be better to do this directly in 3D.

Cheers and good luck  .

09 September 2005, 03:48 PM
Yeah another angle would be good. Perhaps there are little balls of light flying around druring the birth, souls waiting to be turned into angles? Really can't wait to see where your going with this.

09 September 2005, 07:33 PM
::OvidsMuse:: - Thanks :thumbsup:

09 September 2005, 07:39 PM (

A little update... the child head is starting to get shape ;)
Oof, it's going slowly, I'm a bit rusty... :(

09 September 2005, 08:43 PM
Are your free formmodeling that baby? Ohh baby!

09 September 2005, 09:29 PM
Yeap, OvidsMuse, this is a freeform modeling... I did't find a suitable reference image, so I'll try to model it like this.

09 September 2005, 09:37 PM (

Another update, and the last one for today, because it's late...

09 September 2005, 05:55 AM
I dig the concept. Very original (or at least something that wouldn't have occured to me). Is the face going to be a human like face? I ask because your head topology looks a little weird to me

Anyway, I'll be coming back.

Check my entry

09 September 2005, 07:00 AM
Hey Arthur... good idea this new born angel... it's certainly so pretty... I can't wait to watch the result... best wishes for continuation

09 September 2005, 07:10 AM
::Lemog:: - Thanks
::Nemirc:: - Thanks, and yes the faces of the characters will be human like.

09 September 2005, 08:04 PM (

The head is almost ready... ;)

09 September 2005, 07:48 PM (

09 September 2005, 11:10 AM
So, this is the head of the angel? It's agood work. Keep working.

09 September 2005, 05:43 PM
I am curious how you made the head. Can I see a wireframe? :bounce:

09 September 2005, 06:29 AM
Hey Dude, coming along nicely i see... but i agree with nemirc, i think its the nose. Babies are so hard to model as they have wired shaped heads and little button noses.

09 September 2005, 06:20 PM
::simovici:: - Yes, I think this is the head of an angel :) .Thanks for encouragements :bounce:
::nemirc:: - Your curiosity will be satisfied ;) the wire will be posted soon...
::eddieellis:: - Yeap, you've right... I have to change the nose a bit.

Cheers

09 September 2005, 06:23 PM (

And as I promised, here is the wireframe for the head.

09 September 2005, 06:25 PM (

I started the body... for my little angel ;)

09 September 2005, 06:32 PM (

The whole body parts are puted together.
Sorry, almoust the whole parts... the wings are not there yet ;)

09 September 2005, 06:42 PM
Hey el_newty, very good idea, and great start. Keep it on.

09 September 2005, 08:40 PM
::claudio:: - Thanks :thumbsup:

09 September 2005, 09:16 PM (

And as I promised, here is the wireframe for the head.

Thanks :)

I was wondering about how you would make the mouth, looking at the previous topology. It makes sense now ;)

09 September 2005, 08:46 PM (

Update to the body parts (hand and foot)

09 September 2005, 08:49 PM (

Now my angel has wings... :)
He will be able to fly when he will grow up ;)

Good luck to everybody!

09 September 2005, 06:57 PM (

Wow, monstruous work with the feathers...but it's finished.
OK, here is an update with the newborn angel ;)

09 September 2005, 07:36 PM
Hi there :)

Out of the Christian inpired themes I like yours best.
Nice concept, could be quite spectacular (?)

I like the feathers, I think they're coming along.
It's probably like doing poly hair, alot of work? :argh:
As for the baby I think you have a nice base shape.

But what I do notice is that he can benefit from more modelling and detailing (?)
His face can still get more detailed cheeks, a more shaped nose and chin.
Hands are looking good already :)
Also there's just a lot of detail that you can still get into as the polys get more dense.

But I think it's on its way. Good luck to you.

09 September 2005, 08:19 PM
Well Arthur, that's comes nicely... as your concept... we feel well the originality...

Just 2 points... nostrills appear a little too raise... and the fingers of a baby are generally more roved.. that all for the moment.

Good courage for continuation

09 September 2005, 08:21 PM
::Spin99:: - Thanks for your reply.Yes in deed I will have to shape out the cheeks and other details... The beauty about polys is: you can split them to define details, and split again, and again... :) Yeap you have right, the feathers needs almost as much work as poly hair doing.

Good luck

09 September 2005, 08:24 PM
::Lemog:: - Thanks a lot for encouragements and for your good remark. I'll try to fox it ;)

Cheers

09 September 2005, 05:39 AM
I think that this is coming along well. However, the baby looks like it is huge for a newborn. To give a sense of the baby's being small, I would suggest that you scale down the body. The head should be bigger compared to the body. I'd recommend looking at pictures of newborns for reference. Also, I would like to point out that it looks like the baby is wearing a diaper! I assume you are avoiding modeling "private parts" on a baby and I don't blame you. However, you could make it a girl and then not have to worry about too much detail. One way or another, I'd definitely say that you need to remove the hump that is between the legs. It looks like a disease of some sort! Good luck on the texturing! This baby should look great in time!

09 September 2005, 05:56 AM
::Gary:: - Thanks for your reply ;)

Just a few things has to be mentioned:
- yeap you're right with the proportions, I'll have to resize the body
- I'm not avoiding the "private parts", this angel will be male :) but it's not finished
- there's a lot of modeling work here: nose has to be remodeled (I'm not confortable with this one); has to redefine the topology of the face to make rounded cheeks and of course it has to be... male ;)

Cheers

09 September 2005, 06:04 AM
Very nice updates :D
I dig the wings a lot. Any ideas how to cover the "tube's showing areas" for them?

09 September 2005, 06:40 AM
::Nemirc:: - Thanks :thumbsup:
I'm glad that you like the wings...

09 September 2005, 05:19 PM

But... I don't see any updates?
We want updates!

Can we have an update now please :)

09 September 2005, 05:46 AM
::Spin99:: - Hmmm... updates... yes... they will come soon ;)
For now I'm cought with other problems and I don't have time for the challenge, but let be optimistics 'cause from Thursday on... I'm back in bussines :)

09 September 2005, 06:45 AM
hey my friend coming along nicely i see.. keep up the good work

09 September 2005, 06:48 AM
Well... I await impatiently your come back Arthur, good courage

09 September 2005, 07:10 AM
::Eddie:: - Thanks for your support ;)
::Lemog:: - Thanks and your patience will be recommpensed :)

Cheers and good luck to everybody.

09 September 2005, 06:15 AM
We are still waiting for updates to your scene. :)

09 September 2005, 09:57 PM
::Simovici:: - Patience... :)

09 September 2005, 10:00 PM (

I'm back on bussiness... :)
OK, I had to change the topology of the face because I wasn't confortable with the previous.

09 September 2005, 10:03 PM (

And of course another update... I added some more details.

09 September 2005, 01:30 AM
Wow, that's a big belly O_O

And I am still having a hard time trying to figure out your nose topology :D

09 September 2005, 01:54 AM
I think that the area above the nostrils would look better if it was pinched in a little/ Also, the structure around the eye gives alot of shadow, making him look like a little old man! You might need to puff out above the cheek bone a little to give him a younger face.

09 September 2005, 05:38 AM
You're back with us... good news Arthur...

just few comments, there's always the problem on the level of the nostrils.
It would be necessary to make a stronger hollow on the eye-level.
The part before mouth is too flat.
The nipples are a little too high compared to the fold of the belly.
Good continuation... :wavey:

09 September 2005, 04:18 PM
::Nemirc:: - Ha ha ha... yes.. it's big... :)
::Mookid & Lemog:: - Yes the nose looks a bit funny (I'll try to fix that), also you noticed that the mouth is flat (it will be no more ;)), the nipples will be replaced and I intent to recuce the belly (it looks to big)

Thanks fellows for C&C's.
Cheers and

09 September 2005, 05:45 PM (

After some C&C's... here's the update ;)

Cheers and good luck!

10 October 2005, 03:26 PM
wow... he is a big boy isnt he...

10 October 2005, 05:17 AM
It's better for the body... remain you the modifications on his head now... :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

10 October 2005, 05:37 AM
::Eddie:: - He he... yes, he's a big boy ;)
::Lemog:: - I'm glad that you like his body ;). About the head... oooff... it's difficult to give him that angelic look...:banghead: but I'll try my best ;)

12 December 2005, 01:11 AM

12 December 2005, 10:54 AM
