09 September 2005, 05:17 PM
hi Gerardo and good luck !
09 September 2005, 02:59 PM
This is the idea that i am working on, still missing some elements in the bottom part, maybe i am going to add some people, i donīt know yet, the idea is an espectacular event that happens every 100 years , the waking up of the ancient dragoon which emerges between clouds and this event is waited for the settlers of this kingdom, (still need to review the history) suggestions are very welcome!.
09 September 2005, 03:05 PM
good luck Smooth!
09 September 2005, 03:17 PM
Very good idea!
Concept looks promising, should be a great image!
Good luck and have fun.
09 September 2005, 03:22 PM
Looks interesting, look forward to seeing further development.
09 September 2005, 03:56 PM
Nice, its good to see some eastern dragons for a change! It'd be cool if you could do the image in the same style as those old japanese landscape paintings, with the very phallic shaped mountains wreathed in curtains of mist.
09 September 2005, 05:33 PM
incredible concept, hope it goes well
09 September 2005, 05:34 PM
I enjoy this idea very much I love dragons...just make it spectacular cheers!
09 September 2005, 06:34 PM
 Incredible conceptual pic thus far....this looks great.
09 September 2005, 06:38 PM
Very cool concept, good luck.
09 September 2005, 06:42 PM
a fantastic concept! exactly the right amount of spectacularity!!!
you could add a waterfall at the background! Just a thought... that will give a great feel of magnitude to the picture - and also a place for the dragon to move out of. Crap, my english needs some polishing! :argh:
09 September 2005, 06:44 PM
Wow, great... I liked how you drawn the water...
Nice job, keep it up :)
09 September 2005, 06:48 PM
love the concept and you can't go wrong with dragons!
09 September 2005, 07:29 PM

superslug,andreas_V,brother_of_veg,Runefall,Opelfruits,the_fgdf,Kid Mesh,ar LutiK,ar LutiK,Climax,3rd user,jddog: Tanks for all the good wishes!!!:bounce:
Miezis: i am planning to add waterfals in the near mountains(donīt worry my english need more polishing than yours!!:D )
eYadNesS: i think to make the dragon emerge from water, but i choose clouds (i have to draw them better) maybe the water is going to be a better idea for the dragon I am going to see that it happens!!:)
archerx: i hope, i never make one!!
09 September 2005, 04:00 AM
Wow, the dragon looks cool. It's a very promising piece. Keep on posting

09 September 2005, 01:17 AM
starting to model the tree, basic model in max and the rest in zbrush, with displacemnt and normal map, i use scater for the plants a plane with the texture and the opacity map, the grass is made with hair and fur tool in max 7 and the foliage of the tree is made with speed tree plugin, still needs some retouch and other elements are missing, well this is for now i have many things to model!! sugestions are welcome
09 September 2005, 01:38 AM
Hey Gerardo ,
The foreground trees and grass look excellent, the colors and textures seem just about right. Great job all round here.
09 September 2005, 02:05 AM
Thats a pretty neat idea, i like that huge dragon comming out, but in your sketch... he seems a bit plain... no.. thats not the word.... umm.. dynamic.. when i saw your sketch, i thought it would look way more badass if he was doing some sort of corkscrew motion as he was comming out of the clouds.. and really spread those huge wings would look pretty intense i think..
either way man, good luck, I think you will do pretty good either way. :)
09 September 2005, 02:07 AM
That is going great guns. I was wondering how you did that grass. Was it a plugin or what.
09 September 2005, 03:02 AM
The tree and the foliage look extremely realistic...Such a wonderful image you have.
09 September 2005, 03:06 AM
very very nice, I love the amount of leaves, good work!
09 September 2005, 11:06 AM
thats definitly one of the best trees and grass!
09 September 2005, 11:10 AM
Yeah! Nice work man. Like yunisirees said... very good.
09 September 2005, 12:50 PM
mmoir,Yongkiat,H N Phan,yunisirees,claudio_jordao: thanks I am glad that they like.:bounce:
LiquidSpider: donīt worry about the dragon is only a bad sketch, is going to be more "intense", thanks for the suggestion.
ugnmoooo: the grass is made with shag and fur extension in max 7.:)
09 September 2005, 01:33 PM
This is really a stunning scenery. I hope you can keep a lot of the rythm of the first sketch - the graphical approach in laying out the shapes works really well here
And that tree is of course very good too, I will follow this for sure.
09 September 2005, 01:38 PM
very nice result on the tree and the foliage !
09 September 2005, 04:45 PM
yup really great result on that tree!
good work so far dude
09 September 2005, 03:34 PM
i love your tree man.........Just Amazing:thumbsup:
10 October 2005, 01:00 AM
it has spent long time from last upload, it is possible that I do not have the necessary time to finish this challenge, i am going to start a new job and my free time is very little, anyway I am going to follow submiting my slow progress.
ok, i add a big tree, and a little bridge , still have to work in some texturing, and other parts and i am going to add maybe more trees in some parts, well this is all for now, crit. are always welcome.!
10 October 2005, 08:59 AM
impressive modelisation and texture. Congratulations.
10 October 2005, 10:17 AM

10 October 2005, 04:20 PM
Wow, very nice foreground. I hadīt seen this one in awhile, but the image strcuk me at first as being a real contender in regards to the topic. Iīm really curious as to how youīre going to model that dragon :).
10 October 2005, 04:44 PM

10 October 2005, 04:30 PM
a long time from my last post, here is the lighting of the scene, i have add more elements, and a big waterfall in the background, i have to add more trees and plant, this is only to show the lighting, i am going to put a compositing with textures tomorrow, like always crit are very welcome.
10 October 2005, 07:23 PM
WoW! this looks so spectacular :scream:
I like your idea very much, it looks better and better! I look foward to see it finished  Keep great working!
10 October 2005, 10:58 PM
greate work. i have an importand question help me on it.
how did you build mountains? did you use any plug-in?
which software do you use for your work?
please answer me and help me on my forum.
my id = siamak_cgm (you can search siamak roshani and find my forum)
i will be happy.
10 October 2005, 03:58 PM
rawwad,siamak_cgm: thanks, the software used is max 7, render with final-render, the mountains are modeling in z-brush and retouched in photoshop(adding more detail in the rocks) still have to be colored and i have to add some trees in the top, i am going to check your forum. cheers!!
10 October 2005, 05:34 PM
I like the landscape, you choose a good shoot too!
10 October 2005, 06:29 PM
wow...Cool,your back again !! Good to know...Cant say anything about the image,it's wonderful:thumbsup: Keep it up
10 October 2005, 02:06 PM
I have to work in the waterfalls, and in the right side of the image, (the little tunnel)i am working in the position of the dragon well.... still much work to do and the crit are very welcome!
10 October 2005, 04:00 PM
Wow... Indeed spectacular... :scream:
Really truely awesome to see such a dreamy (and creamy ;) ) idea for this theme...! Really original execution of the theme! Really cool to see 'you're the same guy as the one with that very awesome GSO-entry'! :scream:
The detail and peace in your image are really awesome... Man... When does the next plane to that place depart? :D
Only crit (well... you asked for crit, so I give it), is that the background may be a bit tóó desaturated. The real background may be so gray, but I think the stuff along the waterfall may have some bits more color. Especially on the left where that road leads to a house on the dept-level of the waterfall, the color shifts a bit weird (that road is still full of color, that building is very desaturated...).
Have tons of fun and lots of luck! Your (one of) the best!
10 October 2005, 05:02 PM
Dutchman: i really apreciate your words and crit, is true, the background and the house, is to gray, in fact i have to add color to the rocks, and the house, for now is only a test to see all together, now i am fighting with the dragon!! again thanks for the crit!!.
10 October 2005, 07:26 PM
It's a really beautiful landscape:thumbsup:
10 October 2005, 08:11 PM
Really beautiful work. My one crit would be the size of the oak tree on the right side. It looks maybe a little small in comparison to the one on the left. It looks like it was shortened to allow the viewer to see all the buildings in the background, but maybe it could be made to be something else. It just threw off the depth and perspective for me when I first saw it. Either way the image is coming along very well. A great piece.
10 October 2005, 07:17 AM
Wow -the enviroment is amazing. Very Fantasy look You have achived..;P Serious only Crit I have -> the Sky it's the wakest part of this image. Can't wait to see some dragons out there! - cheers
10 October 2005, 09:30 AM
amazing work so far - what hardware u use if u make mountain in zb :) it must be a lot of polys :] ? can we see some wires ? and one more - do render the scene with separate layer ? your pc must me a monster :) w8 for more.
10 October 2005, 02:01 PM
Novacaine: thanks for the crit. i think the problem is in the dof effect the left tree is a giant tree this is the idea but the problem is the depth of the scene, i am going to work in this!
the_fgdf: thanks! the sky is only a test, i am planning to add decent clouds!!
hindus: i am going to add some wires of the mountains, the background (rocks and waterfall) have aprox 500.000 pol. my pc: p4 2.4c 1gb ram ddr 400 geforcefx 5900xt, and i render the elements in separate layers and compose in photoshop.
10 October 2005, 02:08 PM
Hi, waouwww, nice upadte here, lot of time i didn't comes, your tree and background are really really cool!! :bounce:
Waiting to see more man!! Keep it going!!
10 October 2005, 04:49 PM
Really nice modeling I think everithing is Just perfect. I relly like that the background is kind of desaturated. I think that will push the dragon to the eye of the viewer. Could you post some shots closer of the stones? I want to give miself an Idea of how you texture it. Did you import the trees fom vue? or are you using another application for the creation of plants and trees?
10 October 2005, 07:40 AM
This is great
One crit, if you can try to vary the color/texture of your leaves in the left tree then it will look much better.
Good work, keep us updated :bounce:
10 October 2005, 08:51 AM
Dude, I die a little every time I see your thread. Such beautiful work.
10 October 2005, 01:48 PM
SuperXCM,vrf: thanks i hope to finish in time!:bounce:
danielkenobi: i am going to add a close look, but the stones only have a basic rock texture i am planning to make a decent texturing, the rock have extra details painted in photoshop, the trees are make with speed tree plugin
Nomad: this is a great idea you are a good observer!
10 October 2005, 04:17 PM
here is a close shot of the rocks they are not textured correctly, only have a basic rock texture, i am planning to add color, and extra details in the final texture.
10 October 2005, 05:11 PM
Txs for the render of the mountains. I was refering to the rocks that blend whith grass, that are closer to the camera, betwen the trees and the wood plataform. Really nice mountain by the way, it has alot of work on it, did you use Zbrush to make them?. :)
10 October 2005, 05:12 PM
wow! nice update mate! your poly rock is awesome! good job! can't wait for your update!
10 October 2005, 05:30 PM
omg :o great
10 October 2005, 05:50 PM
wow the rocks are impressive. Hope you got a good machine for final render because it must be long.
10 October 2005, 07:05 PM
danielkenobi: yes, i am going to add this rocks too and i use z-brush for the mountains and a normal map for the extra details. cheers!
monsitj,hindus: thanks for the comments!!
authentic: yes very looong time!!
10 October 2005, 07:11 PM
danielkenobi: yes, i am going to add this rocks too and i use z-brush for the mountains and a normal map for the extra details. cheers!
monsitj,hindus: thanks for the comments!!
authentic: yes very looong time!!
10 October 2005, 07:35 PM
ineed some help to choose a good dragon position i have this 3 alternatives i donīt decide yet, the suggestions will be of much aid!
10 October 2005, 11:46 PM
mmm I really like the third position. I would probably put the dragon more centered, but that would leave a very empty space on the right top corner. But right now the atention goes to that corner were it is only the dragon so the viewer dont put alot of atention on the rest of the composition. The left tree is taking you alot of space I can see. I would go probably for the secondone moving a little more to the right the dragon.
10 October 2005, 07:08 AM
The Interesting idea. Good luck.
10 October 2005, 07:34 AM
I like Dragon number 2 for he really looks like coming from the deeps of that valley. But number 3 has better positioned wings! Perhaps you could do the third Dragon bigger to make clear from where he comes and to add more spectacularity.
Good work. Keep it up :applause: :applause: :bounce:
10 October 2005, 08:49 AM
Yeah! the third one but as Woole said, bigger, great modeling in the rocks! wow thats a huge amount of polygons you should have a mega workstation uh?:D keep the good work!
10 October 2005, 10:51 AM
Hey, man great progress, Really cosy atmosphere, I like the third one, even though it distracts a litlle bit composition of image but it still looks most dynamic and beautiful imo, good luck!
10 October 2005, 04:04 PM
ok, thanks for the suggestions i resize the dragon and add other alternative more similar to the sketch, suggestions are welcome!!
10 October 2005, 04:14 PM
I kind of like nr1, it shows how huge the dragon is... :)
10 October 2005, 04:30 PM
wheres my jaw :) amazing and specular :)
10 October 2005, 06:31 PM
your detail of the scene both color and model is fantastic , but I notice that it look static , maybe you can add effect such as wind blow the tree , or something that show the impact from dragon , dont' know , and sorry for bad english:bounce:
10 October 2005, 07:33 PM
OMG this is looking awesome! :applause: Eagerly waiting to see how it would look like by 5 December.
10 October 2005, 08:40 PM
monsitj: yes i am thinking in some like that i hope to look good in the final image
Digital_Rebellion: thanks, i hope so.
makaron: i think the same, but i donīt decided yet maybe the first is better, i am gong to see if anyone think other thing respect this 2 options. cheers:thumbsup:
10 October 2005, 10:15 PM
wooow..okayy someone call a doctor cause this is sick..at first i thaught this was a matte painting... RESPECT:eek:
10 October 2005, 10:52 AM
Hey Gerardo, I could tell that your work is truly amazing and things like that... but instead, I'm just gonna look at your image, and let myself go there... maybe lay down under that wonderful tree, and be delighted with this spectacular moment.
10 October 2005, 02:07 PM
Great progress man
I`m more in favor of the secoond dragon pose beacause we see more of the wings and it creates a more powerful view.
Keep this way :bounce:
10 October 2005, 02:11 PM
Gee, very impressive work, congrats man! I do think the first one will be more efficient and spectacular, though the pose of the second is really cool too.
10 October 2005, 12:50 PM
nebezial,claudio_jordao,Nomad,thierry2005: thanks for the comments and suggestions i am going to choose the first option, to follow the sketch idea.:)
10 October 2005, 11:53 PM
i think this is going to be the final position, for the creature, i have to start the modeling in z-brush and add all the details, i am not sure about the tentacles but for now is a test, crit will be apreciated.
11 November 2005, 12:01 AM
I dont really like the tentacle that is grabing the stone, I know that maybe you put it, to make it more integrated with the environment but it doesnt seem like a dragon any more, now it looks more like a pokemon creature.
11 November 2005, 12:34 AM
Wow...at the begining i thought it was a drawing....very beautiful work...if u achieve the same kind of detail of env on the Dragon too...well..this is truly spectacular...:)
11 November 2005, 01:50 AM
Thanks for such an inspiring piece so far Gerardo!
The grass in the foreground seems a little too specular maybe And the beast appears to me a little static atm... I'm sure you've great plans for him tho... Keep it coming:buttrock:
11 November 2005, 09:40 AM
absolutely spectacular! I love the environment so far!
11 November 2005, 09:57 AM
oh man why the hell i didnt saw this one before!!...a** kicking work dude!:scream::applause:..very impresiive
11 November 2005, 09:59 AM
Fantastic. Without the wings your creature works better. Its much bigger now and fits better in the environment.
Iīm looking forward to see your zbrushed version :D
11 November 2005, 10:15 AM
If this isn't spectacular scene,,then i dont know what is.
Imagine,,walking arround, minding your own tourist bussines, taking nice photos of ancient quasi china architecture,,
admiring beautyfoul nature, and spectacular waterfalls, and without any warning, gigantic
serpent dragon like creature emerges from deep canyon.
It is spectacular.
11 November 2005, 10:54 AM
i just love it !
I just think that the monster could get a little more details an texture. Maybe a wet and slime one.
But hey ! FANTASTIC WORK !
11 November 2005, 12:05 PM
Im oficially jealous of your entry! trully inspiring stuff!
Crits, what crits?
11 November 2005, 02:35 PM
Great details man... I really like your style:thumbsup:
11 November 2005, 03:42 PM
now Iīm waiting for the dragon to emerge in all his glory... in detail...
11 November 2005, 04:59 PM
mmmmmm. thats a beautiful escene:love:, is the only thin i can say....good work:buttrock:
11 November 2005, 11:53 AM
Wow, the environment is outstanding.
11 November 2005, 12:42 PM
my Favorites work:thumbsup:
11 November 2005, 02:03 PM
Looking realy good.Interesting creature you settled on ,love to see the creature progress.
11 November 2005, 02:23 PM
danielkenobi: yes, but it is not so important that it is a dragon, and yes probably be a pokemon creature!!!
melkao,ilusiondigital,adel3d: really thanks fo the comments!!!:D
maurodelia:yes, the dragon is only an sketch.
11 November 2005, 03:09 PM
Very very very cool image!
I like the composition and creature design!!! The only crit: I think you need to add some bright color spots to your scene. Maybe some flowers on the ground and red/yellow lines on the creature skin. Just to make the image look more interesting and to catch the viewers eyes on something.
But anyway - cool! As already was said - it looks very much like mattepainting!
11 November 2005, 02:47 PM
Awesome, this one is the best comparing with another three before, waiting to see it in 3d
11 November 2005, 05:11 PM

11 November 2005, 06:55 PM

11 November 2005, 03:43 PM
creature modeling, and a quick composition, now i am working in the texture, crit are welcome.
11 November 2005, 03:53 PM
I loved your entry! Very detailed, composition is excellent, and overall is very cool!!:applause:
But I think that the creature is like a snake/worm and was better when it was like dragon or something like this. Put some claws, or perhaps wings... Good Luck!
11 November 2005, 03:56 PM
A wonderous creature this dragon is that you've created, Smooth.
For the texture, my thought is to give the dragon a different hue than the enviroment to really make it stand out and draw the viewers' to it.
11 November 2005, 04:09 PM
Your creature is really really great . Congratulations. Hope it 'll work with texture. Nothing to crit really; Just not fond of the arm taking over the rock but it's a personnal opinion, nothing shocking.
11 November 2005, 06:38 PM
īThe dragon is coming along really nicelyt! This one is definitely a conteder.
11 November 2005, 06:13 AM
The creature looks great .Can't wait to see the textures and what colors you have in mind for it.
11 November 2005, 07:42 AM
WOW alsome image man, composition looks great, can't wait to see more. Will the dragon have teeth?
11 November 2005, 09:50 AM

11 November 2005, 09:43 AM
One nicely done dragon! Hey I kind of like them too, hehe! Beautiful overall result:arteest:
11 November 2005, 10:46 AM
This is definitely in the final row of winners me thinks...:bounce:
11 November 2005, 01:08 PM
DJ_Fleury: i try with the wings but i donīt have good results, and yes is an snake creature more than a dragon is not importan for me... is an extrange creaure, tnaks for the crit.
ArtisticVisions: tha texture is coming in a moment....
authentic: yes, maybe i am going to remove the tail in the rock..:hmm:
thierry2005,DimitrisLiatsos: thanks for the comments and good wishes!!
11 November 2005, 01:18 PM
this is the texturing for the creature, i put many colors so the creature stands out of the background, i am going to addt the composition very soon, crit are welcome!
11 November 2005, 01:29 PM
very nice stuff
11 November 2005, 01:38 PM
like the colors, the blue eyes make him look like he have intelligence... :applause: like he thinks, hmm.. I have an urge to destroy, where can I start...
11 November 2005, 01:55 PM
Great dragon and the texturing is awesome. Is it getting any teeth?
11 November 2005, 04:54 PM
great dragon, the texturin is just great. and the escene is looking good:thumbsup:
11 November 2005, 09:18 AM
Very cool concept! Texturing is great!..
Hoping for some teeth also?
Keep it up!
11 November 2005, 11:11 AM
nothing to say, just wanne clap my hands for you :applause: ...
11 November 2005, 04:46 PM
I don't speack to much english but I whant to tell you..
the image is amazin.. and the concept... but I think the Dragon
need someting more spectacular...
I think is more spectacular seeing the dragon comin out, than seeing stand it there...
just stay there...
the size... I realy need to see a bigger dragon... even If I just see his Mouth and the eyes coming out... well.. the complete head.. and the Claws Pushing up... that! could be more spectacular... the acction...
well.. hope you understand mi english.. jejeje...
congratulation on this amazing work
11 November 2005, 09:08 PM
Great texturing and lightning in this bug-snake, waiting the composite
11 November 2005, 01:16 PM
visualact.com,makaron,melkao,mac_andre,ilusiondigital: thanks again for the comments, the update is coming..
SONIC-X,MichaelMotion: i try but i donīt like the result, i like a more Pacific creature.
okjoss: i try to resize the dragon is the only thing that I can do at this moment, but i think that it is not necessary that there is a violent action to be spectacular, I want a pacific scene, I want to give him a different approach to the spectacular theme (sorry for the english i hope you understand) anyway i am going to put now a composition with a more big creature i think that is a good change to make the moment more spectacular, thanks for the crit. and suggestion.
11 November 2005, 01:24 PM
i have added two sizes for the dragon, i donīt sure about wich is betther, i think the big increase the spectacular effect to the scene, suggestion will be of much aid, i have update some elements in the scene more trees, plants etc. still missing the waterfall effect i have to work in this and the background mountains, dof effect.. etc
11 November 2005, 01:38 PM
They are both great, at the moment I d say go with the bigger one... but either one is great!
11 November 2005, 01:39 PM
I think the dragon to the right, the bigger one is best... :bounce:
11 November 2005, 01:40 PM
whoops double post!
11 November 2005, 01:50 PM
It's difficult to say, but I think that first is better, it looks more kingly, anyway both looks great.
11 November 2005, 07:48 PM
definily the size help the dragon.. now is caching the atention..
No te preocupes por el ingles.. el mio es peor
definitivamente le ayuda el tamaņo...
tu punto de vista es muy bueno tambien, al querer una escena mas
tranquila pero siempre espectacular... muy bueno
11 November 2005, 09:37 PM
Hi Gerardo! Me is again checking your thread! ;)
First of all your progression is greeaaaat! Your image looks really fabulous yet! :bounce:
Second of all: I think that first image would be the best composition. In the second one the dragon is tóó heavy 'there'. People that are looking to the image will - however you place the dragon - first see that dragon. Also, in the first image, the dragon seems to have much more ways of movement; he can very sneaky 'attack' if he'd wish. So picking the first image will bring more 'spectacular-ity' in you imagination - when you think deeper of the image...!
Have lots of good luck! :)
11 November 2005, 02:16 AM
Cool man. that looks awesome..
Hey mi preferencia personal seria la de la izquierda, me parece mejor compuesta, no creo que mas grande sea sinonimo de mas espectacular, pero bueno es cierto que las dos imagenes están muy buenas...
11 November 2005, 03:24 AM
awesome, gosh i should drop by th 3d challenge more often, the 2nd one seems alil too cramp up with space, the 1st one have a better compositional value.keep going mate~i dig where u r heading:thumbsup:
11 November 2005, 11:07 AM
I prefer him bigger. A little crit, I think his color is too much like the bg color.
11 November 2005, 11:19 AM
I'd say the second one is much better, not only for the size but also for the shape of the dragon. In the second one the dragon seems to have better stability and that increase his impact on the scene.
Great picture anyway
11 November 2005, 02:38 PM
hey man, you don't get tired, making cool things to this spectacular escene?:banghead:
11 November 2005, 05:04 PM
It looks stunning, mystical. Keep it up!
11 November 2005, 12:47 PM
really thanks for all the crit and sggestion, I chose an intermediate size for the dragon not too big and not to small, i am going to put the update in a moment. thanks!
11 November 2005, 12:52 PM
well this is the update, i add more details to the background and other parts, still need some rotouch maybe in the fog and dof effect i think, wel the seggestions will be welcome!
11 November 2005, 01:02 PM
I really like the mood of your image and the depth in the image is excellently done:thumbsup: . I like the sky as well. I think the dragon blends in too much with the background and I think the skin could be slightly darker.
Anyways , you have done an excellent job on this.
11 November 2005, 01:34 PM
yes, but in the big version of the image is more dark try to look the full resolution image, the small image in th thread is more desaturated i donīt know why, anyway i am going to work in this thanks!
11 November 2005, 01:35 PM
That's very beautifull
11 November 2005, 02:16 PM
mmmmmm:shrug:aaaaaaaaa....what a....... you are a........i mean wow:eek:
11 November 2005, 02:28 PM
This is just awesome.Congrats with a beautifull scene.
11 November 2005, 03:29 PM
Great comp, I think the dragon's eye looks am.. dead.. his look looks stupid a bit, maybe you should rotate his eye so he would look at something, for ex. at building, on the left. Good luck:wip:
11 November 2005, 03:32 PM
I really like they way the creature's color mimics the rocks. It helps amplify your story that he is as ancient as the stones. In your original sketches you have water streaming off him like the waterfalls around him. I liked that. Maybe some googling on breaching whales could give you some nice water effects to add.
Very, very beautiful!
11 November 2005, 05:28 PM
Uf great image, mate.
Only one crit, the eyes and mouth of the giant monster.
Chau amigo Gerardo y mucha suerte
11 November 2005, 05:48 PM
This is an amazing image - congrats!
I agree with Glenn about the good with having the creature almost rock colored - very nice!
Maybe you could make a bit more DoF for the background cliff and forrest to imrove the sense of depth even more. But frankly, it's beautiful as it is
11 November 2005, 06:00 PM
I got 2 suggestions ya might wanna try with the time left -
1 - try adding some quick tiny people standing on that "balconi". it could really make a difference with the sence of scale.
2 - I think the creatue is too "stone - shaded", maybe ya went for this on purpuse, but I'd seriusly suggest trying it with SSS. I think it could really improve it.
11 November 2005, 08:08 PM
helloooo.... man.. wow... nice pic
only crit is the leaves on the big tree look all the same..
11 November 2005, 11:00 PM
Haha it's great - beautiful!
Zman has right Adding some people may put even more life to our image. Why not to try!!
11 November 2005, 06:25 AM
Wow... beatiful piece. This is definitely one of the nicest 3D images Ive seen so far. Definitely stands out. I like the softness of the mist toward the bottom of the waterfall. Such a nice touch. Hats off:applause:
11 November 2005, 08:06 AM
i really like the shader for your monster and his eyes make him alive!!
congratulation for tis nice piece of work
11 November 2005, 11:32 AM
nothing to crit... just watching and
11 November 2005, 12:17 PM
Great, great work - i really love the idea of this one. Suits the word spectacular down to the ground!
Great environment (leaves on the left look a bit repeated though) and awesome monster. The lighting on it makes it look huge and really elegant. Fantastic work!
The only constructive things i can say are that you could use some people standing on the balcony and perhaps a small flock of birds in the sky. They can help establish your already superb sense of scale.
I also think the monsters' eye looks a bit strange. I think a dragon's eye or some other kind of reptile eye wouldnt suit it either. Maybe look into glossy, filmy aquatic eyes?
Keep up the great stuff.
11 November 2005, 06:16 PM
This has become one great image. Wonderful colors and composition. The monster texture is just wonderful. Thumbs up!!
11 November 2005, 08:13 PM
thanks fo all the comments and suggestions, i made some changes based on some of the suggestions, i change the eye position i think now look better, and add some people, change in the leaves of big tree, and make the creature more dark in order to separate it of the background, still need maybe some adjustments, well I hope that the changes they like, suggestion and more crit be welcome!
11 November 2005, 08:17 PM
change in the leaves of big tree,
Yeap, that was a good choice....
11 November 2005, 09:44 PM
WoW, Great working here, I see! :applause: Enviroment is fantastic, i like dragon too, but his eyes not very much. But I must say this is one of the best spectacular enteries!
11 November 2005, 02:17 AM
One of my favorite entries so far, great stuff Smooth-criminal!
11 November 2005, 03:01 AM
This looks better every time I see it. Beautiful. I must agree that it is truly "spectacular"! I agree with the comments about the eyes, though- the monster is so elegant and realistic, the eyes look almost cartoony, and give it a very docile look. Maybe that's what you're going for, though... How about some water dripping from him?
11 November 2005, 07:51 AM
I must say, this is quite possibly my favourite 3d entry. I love the composition - its just so damn easy on the eyes, and the sense of scale and the lighting is just perfect. The background is almost photo-real too.
It looks loads better with the improved leaves and the addition of people. Im really struggling to suggest improvements!
Im gonna have to be really picky now!
Maybe add a tiny bit of specularity to the eye
As dvelasco said, some water running off him would make him fit in with the environment more
Perhaps put a small family sitting on the grass in the foreground? Not sure what it would do to your successfull composition, but it might help establish the foreground scale. Those large pots by the tree on the left are kinda hard to judge the scale of. That way, you would have foreground, middle distance and background.
The people on the balcony seem a little too black. I know they are facing away from the light, but the ambient light would illuminate them a little bit.
Perhaps raise the railing to chest level so that their hands can touch it. Because some of the people arent touching the railing, they look a tiny bit 'stick figurey' in their pose.
Even right now, id say this is superb as a final image, but it would be ace if it would be pushed a tiiiiny bit more!
11 November 2005, 01:21 PM
sergioKomic, rawwad, beelow, dvelasco :thanks for the suggestions again, i making some of the suggest. i hope to update today.
Andy H: thankf for cit. i try with the birds but i donīt like the result, are too small i think.. well i am adding 2 childs in the foregrund over the rock,.. still have to make the water effect in the creature, but no good results for now, if you have some technique for make this quick will be apreciated.:arteest:
11 November 2005, 02:01 PM
 (first reaction) (second reaction)... Amazing...
11 November 2005, 06:02 PM
another update, i add 2 childs over the right rock, to help the sense of scale of the image, i givi to the creature a little more wet effet to the skin, is more visible in the full resolution image,(still need to work a little in this part)add a little lighting in the top of the left tree, and correct the railing of the balconies,i think the next update will be the final image...(i hope) the crit. and suggestions well be apreciated.
11 November 2005, 06:09 PM
Very strong image you have done and I like the addition of the people , they give a good sense of scale to the image. :bounce:  The dragon looks much better than the last time I saw it . Good luck with this.
11 November 2005, 06:34 PM
Great update .You put life to this image. It's much better now- keep it up!
11 November 2005, 07:06 PM
Great update! All of the problems are fixed now!
I cant find anything constructive to say now!
If i have to be ULTRA critical, i would say that you could use a few birds in the BG, and that the path on the middle left of the image is really bright and draws the eye to it.
Id say youre about ready to submit it any time now
11 November 2005, 07:51 PM
this image looks so so so so soooo good now... :bounce: impressive and majestic...
11 November 2005, 02:00 PM
